GGuest UserThe hotel is facing Porthminster beach and you need just 5 minutes to walk to the beach. Very good place for children. It is not in the heart of the town but it’s only takes 15 minutes to walk to the harbor since this is a small place.
The room seems to be decorated recently and looks clean, with enough plugins on the wall.
If you windows are facing the beach, you will have a wonderful sea view, and enjoy the sunrise over the sea. But it also means a lot of noises in the daytime as it is by the roadside.
The services are limited, the facilities are old, the floor creaks, as many similar peers. What more could you expect with the room rate is relatively cheap? Apart from the noise, I’ve got nothing to complain about.

GGuest UserOk I'll start with positives. The location is literally adjacent to St Ives railway station and the beach so if you don't like walking the hotel is great for this. Hotel itself is on a steep hill, walking downhill to the main port/shops is about 5/10mins.
Now the hotel. First impression of reception desk is great, looks clean and new and the reception staff were very friendly but then it went downhill from there. The ”luggage storage” room was a room that anyone could access particularly with the back door of the room wide open to the back of the hotel and yard. So i would be concerned leaving anything valuable.
Our room was 313 on the third floor.
Ridiculously warm with a basic tower fan for cooling, there was tea and coffee facilities that were good. The standard quality of the room was poor. Bedding was poor quality very uncomfortable only one pillow..if you could call it that. I would advise management to supervise housekeeping more and do room checks as the cleanliness was poor. As you entered you were greeted by a weird smell of damp. The view of the one window was great of the sea and beach but marred by the dirty seagull poop window and worn mouldy window frame, dirty dust on the sill. It's not hard to clean a window and window frame or get a maintenance person to reseal the edges of the window or put a temporary rubber sealant till a new window frame is fitted.
The bath tub panel had a crack hole in it which could cause a cut if I wasn't carefully paying attention and a used soap in the shower. Orange yellowing in the grouting around the bath/shower. Limescale bathroom foam spray helps with this. This room desperately needs to be refurbished or renovated. I highly recommend watching Four in a bed or The Hotel Inspector in how to manage your rooms.
The other room was room 11? backed onto the courtyard. A little better high ceilings, airy and cool looked like it had a repaint but again the shower room had a strong smell of urine.
Other than that reception desk staff friendly, when mentioned the urine smell they got housekeeping to clean again, just a shame it takes other team members to slack somewhat on housekeeping and let the team down. More supervision is required. More maintenance.
Look don't be put off by this review like I said location is great. Just be really specific with your room choice ie, renovated room-show photos you've seen on website so you know what room you're getting.

玥玥上Sea view room, several windows with great views, simple breakfast provided (worth about 12 pounds), the food in the hotel restaurant is also good, there are many people every day, there is an Italian buffet on Friday (15.5 super cheap), a lot of dishes, just They are all very filling dishes, so they are cheap. You don’t have to worry about customers eating too much, but it is more than enough to try them all~

Tthe_wonkIt was excellent. A lot of unreasonable bad reviews about this place but the cleaniness was fine, facilities more than adequate, and the staff was friendly. The on-site restaurant was excellent as well, again great staff, and the food produced looked like the chef took it seriously too. i.e. homemade tartar sauce, homemade sweet chilli sauce, fresh battered fish. Good beer selection on draught too.

PProper21Really loved that it was so easy to check in , an ideal location with a beautiful breathtaking view , the room was worth the price it was immaculate and had everything we needed , staff were very friendly and accommodating . The reception staff member even took our bags to look after for a few hours after we checked out to avoid us having to lug them about . Compliments to the staff

This place feels much more like a warm, welcoming family guest house than a typical hotel. The wonderful couple who run the house were incredibly friendly, kind and polite throughout our stay. From the very beginning, my wife and I felt genuinely welcomed and looked after.
It honestly felt like staying at our grandparents’ house. We were treated almost like their own children, and that personal warmth made our three-night stay truly special.
The breakfasts were absolutely delicious. The lady prepared wonderful breakfasts for us, with her husband helping as well, and every morning felt very personal and homely.
The house itself was spotless and perfectly clean throughout our entire stay. The location is also excellent — Carbis Bay train station is only about a three-minute walk away, which is extremely convenient for exploring Cornwall. We also had no real problems with parking. The Wi-Fi was surprisingly fast and reliable too.
Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The combination of the beautiful house, perfect cleanliness, great location, delicious breakfasts and, most importantly, the kindness of the owners made our stay memorable.
Thank you so much for making us feel at home. We will definitely be back next year!

The owner and hostess were wonderful, and the room was so clean I slept like a log. I'd love to come back with my family next time.
If you're looking to experience a British B&B, definitely book here. I give it a 10 out of 10. It's a great value for the price and cleanliness compared to other places. Personally, I thought it was incredibly clean. And because the hotel is small, there were a lot of families and people with a sense of community.
You can't go without making a reservation in advance. There's a beach near the hotel, and there's a Mexican Inn for dining, but I can't recommend it. It's probably better to ask the hostess.
There's also a small pub on site, so you can have a drink in the evening.
Because they're British, they're not overly friendly, but they have a comfortable, friendly demeanor. I hope they continue to run this hotel for a long, healthy life. ❤️

GGuest UserThe hotel itself was a great experience and we did enjoy the novelty of staying in the prison which I would recommend to anyone.
Upon arrival we were welcome by the team but very basic information was given, leading to us missing a tour of the hotel which we were told was included in the price. The manager then offered for one of the team to do a later tour for just the two of us which was cut short, very awkward and definitely not worth the money paid for. If we had been advised of the tour with the bigger group when checking in we may have had a better experience.
We decided to book dinner at the chapel to experience it as much as we could but dinner was poor. We had to wait for our table, 3 different people asked for our name before we sat down and then again a fourth person checked once we were sat down. With minimal staff on the service was poor to say the least and The burger ordered was pretty much raw, I did not finish it. Once we had finished no one came to ask if we wanted anything else or to look at a dessert menu. We left the restaurant with no one even there working! Not sure where the team had disappeared to.
Breakfast was good and would recommend it.

OOlly reviewsKing Arthur’s Arms is fabulously located next to a huge car park, yet on Fore Street, which is the Main Street running through Tintagel and about 3 minutes walk to the top of the hill leading down to English Heritage’s Tintagel Castle. On arrival we were checked in at the bar by Jess with a very friendly Cornish welcome. The smell of cleanliness emerged us as we walked up to our huge room with double bed, wardrobe, dressing table, easy chairs and huge bathroom with double walk in shower, sink, toilet and heated radiator. Huge room for Cornwall and immaculate. We chilled out and wandered along and around Tintagel Castle, then back to the pub for dinner. It’s an extensive menu with huge portions. There was no issue with pub noise and we slept well, waking for an extensive breakfast which commences with a choice of pastries and cereals, then Full English, teas, coffees and juices! We were then able to stay parked for a few hours after check out at 10am to wander around Tintagel.
Really cannot recommend King Arthur’s Arms enough and particularly so to single parents with kids-safe, friendly and accommodating and shout out to Jess for super friendly service throughout!
