This was my first time traveling abroad with my child, and convenient transportation was absolutely essential. A single train from Kansai Airport took us directly to the hotel, so we didn't have to worry about lugging suitcases and changing subways. It's right next to Kyoto Station, but surprisingly quiet. I'll definitely stay here again next time. Also, if you don't want to check out at 11 AM and leave your luggage at the front desk, you can opt for a paid late check-out – it's 1000 yen an hour, which is even cheaper than hourly hotels back home. This way, you can go out in the afternoon, come back, relax or even take a shower before heading out.
I had a great stay at Agora Kyoto Karasuma. The hotel has a calm, elegant atmosphere, and the rooms are thoughtfully designed with a minimalist Japanese style that feels both modern and cozy. The location is perfect, close to transportation, shops, and great local restaurants, which made getting around Kyoto very convenient.
The staff were kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Their hospitality made the experience even better. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would definitely choose Agora Kyoto Karasuma again on my next visit to Kyoto.

I really loved this hotel, had a fantastic stay for a few nights! ☺️
The room was spacious enough to fully open my suitcase, which made getting things in and out very convenient. There's also a fridge, so I didn't have to rush to eat everything I bought from the convenience store.
The location is pretty good too. Even though it's in Gojo, there's a bus stop just a short walk away, and I found taking the bus every day very convenient for getting around.
You can pick up any skincare essentials like lotions and masks on the first floor. Plus, you can take a bath in the room, which was so relaxing after a tiring day. 🛀🏻

Location, location, location! This hotel boasts incredible convenience, situated right next to the east wall of JR Kyoto Station, just a one-minute walk away. Unlike other Mitsui Garden Hotels, the Kyoto branch is generally smaller and doesn't have a hot spring. However, the surrounding area offers fantastic access to food, transportation, and shopping. 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Lawson, Don Quijote, Aeon, and Isetan are all within walking distance. The Osaka Airport limousine bus also departs from Kyoto Station.
I was very satisfied with this hotel. It was clean and hygienic, and a taxi ride from Kyoto Station cost about 1500 yen. When I checked out, the Shijo branch helped transfer my luggage to the Mitsui Garden Hotel in front of Kyoto Station for only 500 yen. I had originally scheduled to pick up my luggage at 6 PM, but my plans changed, and I went to pick it up at 1:50 PM. The staff helped me with my bags and even asked if my kids and I were hungry, offering us a simple meal. That really touched my heart. Plus, the Mitsui Garden Hotel in front of Kyoto Station is so close to the station! I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Kyoto. The Shijo branch is also very convenient for taking buses to various attractions and is close to the central area.

Good location, hotel is very near to shijo station exit 4, very convenient for Hankyu Line to Osaka and Kyoto city metro. 7-11 also just few shops beside the hotel👍🏻Walking to Daimaru and Karasuma is not quite far. I have request for high floor room when making the reservation, and during check in they actually assigned me a room at the highest floor. I was very impressed by their attentiveness and consideration for guest preferences! Breakfast menu change everyday😋, everything is satisfied😊 Highly recommended!👍🏻
The room is quite spacious, allowing me to open a 24-inch suitcase. There are two supermarkets downstairs that stay open late, making it very convenient for shopping. Multiple bus stops nearby offer easy access to anywhere you want to go. There's a direct subway line to Osaka, and getting to Arashiyama is also convenient, taking less than 30 minutes.

The hotel is located at Umekoji park, just 2min walk away from Umekoji station. Just one street away, there are museum, garden, aquarium, Michelin star Ramen shop and many other high local rating (in tabelog) restaurants. The room was compact but clean, practical and comfortable. The breakfast served a small japanese-western style buffet, but it was tasty. Public bath was spacious and the congestion information was accessible from your room, which was very useful. Overall, it was a pleasant hotel for exploring the modern part of Kyoto.

Stayed at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kawaramachi Jokyoji from 20-24 Dec. This was my 2nd stay there in 2 consecutive months, despite there being hundreds of hotels in Kyoto.
Location: the hotel is located in the city center with Nishiki Market and Teramachi indoor shopping street located very closeby. Kawaramachi is also a big commercial street lined with plethora of shops and malls. Train stations within walking distance.
Hotel Facilities and Amenities: this is a very beautiful hotel next to a temple (and small cemetery). The rooms are exemplary clean and quite spacious for Japan’s standard. Many facilities such as a public onsen, on-site restaurant, vending machine, ice machine, etc. No gym, which is not a big deal at all if you are in Kyoto for a short tourist visit. You will be doing a lot of walking anyway if you choose to.
I only visited the on-site restaurant for dinner once. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Service staff was accommodating (I had to use a wheelchair at the time); however, service was lackluster otherwise.
Hotel staff service: cannot praise the service by the hotel staff enough. This time around, I had injured my foot and couldn’t walk for 2 days. I was touched by the staff’s incredible kindness - they went out of their way to really help me out.
Overall: if you want city center location with easy access to modern shops and an array of restaurants within walking distance, big and super clean room, and great hospitality, I’d highly recommend this hotel.

Very Good
GGuest UserThe hotel is quite a distance from both the subway station and the main shopping street, making shopping quite inconvenient. Even the bus stop requires about a 100-meter walk and crossing an overpass. They offer a public bathhouse with separate sections for men and women. The water was quite clean, and it felt incredibly relaxing to soak in after a long day of walking. My room, located on the 9th floor, had a distinct urine-like odor when the air conditioning was turned on. The smell only dissipated after I used the air purifier. The included buffet breakfast had a rather limited selection of items. On a positive note, there's an excellent ramen shop located right downstairs from the hotel, which is definitely worth a visit.
XXiaobaituaimiI've stayed at Tokyu hotels a few times before and generally found them acceptable, but this particular Tokyu Hotel has a terrible location. Transportation is incredibly inconvenient, and there isn't even a bus stop nearby. It's at least a 10-minute walk to the nearest subway station. The shuttle bus to Kyoto Station only runs every 30 minutes, so you still end up waiting a long time.
The 3300 yen breakfast was also incredibly basic, worse than what you'd get for 1800 yen at a standard business hotel.
The worst part was the room temperature on cold winter nights. I woke up freezing in the middle of the first night and ended up catching a cold with a runny nose. What's more, the air conditioning panel only allowed for adjusting the fan speed, not the temperature.
The hotel was also undergoing renovations during my stay, so I spent the entire second day out and about. Taxis in Kyoto are quite expensive; a 2-kilometer ride from Kawaramachi back to the hotel cost 1600 yen. It would definitely be more convenient to stay near Kyoto Station.

Great
IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves.
When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service.
The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point.
There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.
RReneehuangHighly Recommended Stay in Kyoto
I would like to strongly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kyoto. The staff demonstrate exceptional professionalism and hospitality.
In particular, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Miss Yuki, who assisted us with our check-in and kindly introduced many wonderful sightseeing spots and activities in Kyoto, as well as to Miss Tsai, a ********* staff member who supported us during check-out with great warmth and care. Their thoughtful service truly reflects the welcoming spirit of Kyoto and the hotel’s commitment to excellence.
I am genuinely impressed by the quality of the team members who bring guests happiness and satisfaction through their dedication. They truly deserve recognition and applause for their outstanding service.
Our two-night stay was far too short, and we are already looking forward to returning in the near future.
GGuest UserTo start with the positives, the hotel was well located and easily accessible using the metro from Kyoto station. The room was a decent enough size and the staff were friendly and helpful.
One major issue we encountered during our stay was the level of humidity in the room. The extractor fan didn't seem to be doing anything to impact moisture in the room, particularly after a warm shower. There was some treated glass above the sink and often this was the only area without moisture well over half an hour after having a shower. (Photos attached) This also meant that towels weren't drying correctly and created an unpleasant environment and ultimately odour in the room. The humidity was so high that the windows were dripping with water consistently and the window sill was actually wet. Additionally the absence of a full wardrobe (just a rail with hangers on) also created challenges when staying for longer than a couple of days and this combined with the humidity made the washing machine almost obsolete.
ГГряникThank you very much, we really enjoyed our stay with you!
Your townhouse was very cozy and fully equipped. Comfortable house clothes, robes and slippers for any occasion (for the street, balcony, toilet and home) made our stay comfortable. The beds, although on the floor, were very comfortable. The mats felt nice and warm. The bathroom with wooden trim looks unusual and stylish. The small rock garden adds a nice accent. The Japanese-style breakfast was an interesting experience, especially the process of making soup yourself. The code entry on the door was very convenient. Thank you!

Llucky333This was the second hotel on our Japan trip, and it was excellent!
The hotel is located directly across from Kyoto Station's Hachijo Exit. Since we had a JR Pass, staying near the station made getting around much easier.
**Facilities:** It's a self-check-in hotel. We paid the accommodation tax first. Next to the self-service machine, there were toiletries that you could take as needed. Although the room was small, it had everything you could want: a refrigerator, humidifier, TV, bathtub, and smart toilet. The room heating was strong, but you could adjust the temperature if it felt too stuffy.
**Cleanliness:** It was clean. We stayed for three nights and didn't request housekeeping. They provided pajamas, and they were really nice! It's a shame that there's a shipping fee if you buy them from the official website. It would be great if the hotel front desk sold new ones.
**Environment:** There's a 7-Eleven on the ground floor of the hotel. Guests can enter directly from the side of the lobby, and when returning, you can swipe your room card at the 7-Eleven to enter the lobby. This is great in cold weather as you don't need to go outside to visit the convenience store for food. The surrounding area has many shopping options, including Don Quijote, Aeon Mall, drugstores, and various eateries. There's even more inside the station! Isetan, Porta, Takashimaya. If you exit towards the Kyoto Theater, you can see Kyoto Tower. There's also a sightseeing bus to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and you can just use your Suica card. You can even walk to Yodobashi Camera.
**Service:** The hotel staff were respectful and polite to guests. You can store your luggage after checking out. Our luggage was sent from our previous hotel, but if you want to send luggage to your next hotel, you have to arrange the courier yourself.
It's very convenient to take the Shinkansen from Kyoto Station to Tokyo!
This hotel is highly recommended, and I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Kyoto!

GGuest UserI've stayed at a few Keihan Group hotels, and they've all been great, but this Kyoto Station South hotel is particularly excellent. The Chinese-speaking front desk staff provided fantastic service during check-in, making me feel truly at home. I also got lucky this time; I arrived at 12 PM and was able to check in early. The daily breakfast is also incredible value for money; 1980 yen on its own isn't expensive at all, and it's an absolute steal when bundled with the room. The 11 AM check-out time is very reasonable, and the luggage storage facilities are excellent, making you feel very secure. However, the self-service lockers fill up quickly, so you often have to leave your bags with the staff. All the amenities are thoughtful and convenient. The only minor drawback is that the expensive hairdryer is too large, taking up space and being awkward to use in the small bathroom. In the afternoons, you can also enjoy complimentary coffee and drinks at the restaurant. The location is unbeatable; it's right across the street from Hachijo Exit, making shopping, dining, and public transport incredibly convenient. The bus to Kansai Airport is also nearby, which is much more comfortable than taking the train. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Kyoto.

GGuest UserExcellent place to stay. Free public bath spa in the hotel.
Plus: PJs and extra toiletries like makeup remover, cotton pads provided.
Lunch: Good lunch buffet with homemade tofu. Value for money.
Laundry: Coin machine at 400 yen a cycle. Good value.
Venue: Walking distance to huge local supermarket, pharmacy and a nearby neighbourhood mall, BIV. Near the world heritage Nijio Castle. Bus stop just outside. Feels safe in coming back late as the hotel is just next to the main road.
GGuest UserI booked one night purely to experience the Japanese style. It's quite a unique and interesting hotel. There's even a Japanese-style public bath on the basement floor. In the evenings, they provide turndown service, coming to prepare the futon in your room. However, there are no curtains in the room, so it gets just as bright indoors as it is outside the moment the sun comes up!
