Great stay! The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable, and the overall service was excellent. The location was convenient, and I really enjoyed my stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay again.
Hotel is trading on its name. Place is in desperate need of an upgrade to rooms and many facilities. No air conditioning to our hotel room, room had a ceiling fan and a cheap pedestal fan. Reasonable breakfast buffet selection, though several hot selections were cold, coffee machine broken and apple juice borderline off. Heated lap pool full of leaves and lot broken and slippery tiles around pool. Room bathroom was very dated and worn. Bed pillows were of poor quality. Rooms not very soundproof. Staff were friendly so no bad reflection on them, it’s down to management and ownership to make this a hotel to miss until significant upgrades, maintenance and improvements are completed. For the price we paid we could have stayed at many other nearby establishments, but chose Wairakei because of its name and perception that it was an upmarket establishment. We were wrong. Would not be rushing back to stay again.
The room is generally good, three beds, can sleep four people. You can see the lake in the distance. There are two Chinese foods in the town, which can be solved, but you must drive across the SH1 road.
The scenery is unique! The eldest brother is also very enthusiastic ~ everything is great! Suitable for bringing children to play ~ swimming pool, it will be very comfortable in summer ~ the surrounding is quiet. If you go, it is recommended to bring more food up the mountain ~ the experience is better
It's 15-20 minutes' drive from Hamilton. The soundproofing of the room is a bit poor, but otherwise it's very good. The taste is online, especially the lady at the front desk is very enthusiastic and friendly.
The room is very unique, but a little small. The breakfast is average. There are three pools in the wild hot spring, which is very artistic. The disadvantage is that the water temperature is a little low. For people who like hot springs, it is not up to standard.
We loved the room which came with a balcony overlooking the beautiful lake Taupo. The grotto and the heated pool were amazing and provided us with a very relaxing stay.
The hotel is in a quiet location, with simple facilities. There is no TV and private kitchen, only a public kitchen, which we think is not hygienic enough and useless. The good thing is that there are two breakfast and dinner restaurants next to it. The food in the COFFEE breakfast restaurant is very good, and the service is also very good. It is not expensive and worth tasting; However, Asians should be more careful when eating at Tomo Bar. We went there for more than an hour and we were not served. The three foreign tables that came later than us were served before us. After I confirmed that they served the dishes in the order of arrival time, I was very dissatisfied and went to find them. They saw that I was a little angry, and served all the dishes in less than two minutes. They threw the newspaper I ordered on the ground, and neither apologized nor gave me a new one. I gave them a five-star review on Google as soon as I went there. At this time, they only cleared the tableware for the foreign table, and pretended not to see the empty wine glasses we drank. At the end, there was no polite language when they went to clear the tableware. I think they can negotiate what kind of guests they don’t welcome and don’t charge us. We also hate to eat in places like them, which lowers our emotional value.
Easy to communicate and check in. Breakfast service started nice and early meaning we could have it before heading off. Very comfortable rooms.

YYUJUCheck in was smooth and quick but changed room twice to get everything right. Our first room had urine stains on the toilet, which means this room was not properly cleaned up. That was terribly disgusting to find these spots. Also, the smart TV in the first room didn't work. Our second room was find but has no bathtub as requested. Changed to the third room and finally get the okay one with great AC, working TV and cleanness. It was our first time stayed in a 5-star hotel in NZ and was surprised the standard is quite low compared to the other 5 stars in Asia. Has small heated pool accommodating 6 people max. Swimming pool and sauna were fine but steam room didn't work. Service okay and great breakfast. Will consider the other place next time.
MManWe booked via a travel agent and fully paid. When we checked-in, the staff knew that we already paid via the travel agent. After we checked out, we are shocked that the hotel double charged the room fee to our credit card without informing us. The receptionists are apathy and unhelpful. We are disappointed with Novotel.
GGuest UserBasically, this hotel (inn) has everything you want, but the quality is not high. The biggest advantage is that it is very convenient if you are traveling by car. The fact that you can park your car at the door is very good. Don’t count the other things. , which is also good. There is a large supermarket opposite which is convenient for shopping!
GGuest User⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 — Comfortable, Clean, and Great for a Short Stay
This isn’t a fancy or high-end hotel, but it’s definitely a great place to spend a couple of nights—especially if you’re visiting Rotorua and Taupō. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, which is really all you need for a short stay when you’re out exploring most of the day.
Don’t expect 5-star facilities or luxury features, but the overall experience is solid and very safe too. The stay was pleasant, the environment was tidy, and it offered good value for money. A reliable and convenient option for travellers passing through or wanting a simple base to explore the area.
Rreturn visitorA tiny motel, has basic amenities. Didn't know there's a communal kitchen until we were leaving.
It's a good stop over point, but most of the town closes either early or has long weekends, so make sure you have supplies beforehand. When we arrived there there was no reception, had a number and person to ring, the entrance is a bit tricky ”around the back”...yep that's exactly what it is.

RRohana SaharomWe loved the room which came with a balcony overlooking the beautiful lake Taupo. The grotto and the heated pool were amazing and provided us with a very relaxing stay.
KkeniofdavalleyThe room we stayed in (3 bedroom townhouse) was part of an old motel next door that was acquired and integrated into Quality Inn Acapulco. Its very old and dated, much of the facilities are ran to their life end.
That said, the motel is clean and convenient.
GGuest UserI reserved an apartment with a sofa bed, and the room was far brighter and more spacious than the photos suggested. It was clean and roomy, with a pleasant balcony furnished with chairs, and parking was readily available. The location was convenient, near shops and a short walk or drive from the beach and supermarket. The only drawback was that noisy neighbors arriving late at night in large groups disturbed our sleep with their shouting. Despite this, it was the best accommodation we encountered during our trip.
