"New World: The Banquet of Breaking Cages" is set against the backdrop of Shanghai during the Anti-Japanese War, presenting revolutionary stories in a vivid way through an innovative "drama + banquet" format. From the 5th to the 3rd century BC, through prolonged exposure to ancient Greek culture, the Romans gradually assimilated their own deities with those of Greece. Thus, the Greek gods dwelling on Mount Olympus found new homes on Rome's Capitoline Hill. Roman deities held pivotal roles in state affairs, with emperors consulting them before major decisions. These gods also guided ordinary lives—whether concerning health, family, work, or leisure, Romans sought divine assistance in all aspects. This exhibition features 134 exceptional artifacts from National Museums Liverpool's collection, including sculptures, pottery, gemstones, and mosaic murals. Centering on Roman deities, it unfolds through three narratives: divine legends, imperial glory, and miraculous daily life.
