Good Egg Comedy in association with Jarvis Pickle Pies and Pilot Brewery bring the perfect Sunday Evening Pick Me Up! Hosted by Ross Leslie, a selection of some of our favourite comedians from the Edinburgh comedy scene are delighted to entertain you. Some of our acts have been on BBC TV and Radio, they are massive on Instagram and other social media and we have curated a fantastic show for our beautfiful Edinburgh room. Ticket will include a pie from the award-winning Jarvis Pickle Pies ( more information here: https://www.jarvispickle.com/ ) - please select which pie when purchasing a ticket. Also included will be a can from local brewery, Pilot Beer ( more information here: https://pilotbeer.co.uk/ ) - choice of Blond Session IPA, Peach Melba Sour or Vienna Pale Ale - on arrival. Pies will likely be served at the first interval. Beer can to be redeemed whenever you like. Our venue is intimate, so only a limited number of tickets are available for this show. The bar is open from 4pm, and we recommend if you have purchased a ticket to at least arrive by 4.30pm. This allows you to sample the best cocktails in the city. We will start bringing people into the comedy room at about 4.45pm, with the show starting at 5pm. Ash Rise is a creative partnership between Scottish Furniture Makers Association, Scottish Forestry, and Association of Scottish Hardwood Sawmillers, celebrating the ash tree and highlighting the effects of ash dieback through the work of 20 outstanding contemporary makers, designers, and artists from across Scotland. Drop in to The Safari Lounge on the last Wednesday of every month for our relaxed and informal figure drawing session with a monoprinty twist. 2024 Sessions Dates are: 31 July28 August25 September30 October27 NovemberMono printing is a great way of encouraging you to work quickly from the model and loosen up your drawing skills Printmaking produces unique and unexpected results which can range from a bold statement to ghostly impressions. Come and explore the incidental qualities and textural possibilities of printmaking and how they can give your drawing a new twist. ​During the class our model will take up a series dynamic poses of no longer than 5 minutes so you can expect to be prolific drawers! The class is mostly untutored but the session will begin with a short mono printing demo and handy drawing tips from the host who will then be on hand to offer advice and chat about the work if asked. Join critic and author Stuart Kelly as he chats to author and artist, Kirsten Norrie on Thursday 28th November at 7pm, about her latest, transportive, deeply intelligent and richly unsettling book, An American Book of the Dead: A Wild West Séance. Set in the mid to late 1800s this unique Acid Western whose psychedelia stems not from drugs but from the spirit world. When spirit photographer, Ebenezer Elijah Henry is confronted by an enigmatic stranger late one night in his Kansas studio, a peculiar tale is summoned through an impromptu séance that culminates in one of the most arresting photographs ever taken. This is the story of Robert McGee: possible scalping survivor, possible fraud, and how his image was invented by an ambitious photographer already imaging Buffalo Bill's Wild West. Kirsten Norrie is a writer, artist, and musician who publishes poetry under the name MacGillivray. Her work has appeared in the Guardian, the TLS, the Scotsman and on BBC Radio 3 Late Junction and the Verb. In 2024-5 she is the Judith E. Wilson Poetry Fellow at the University of Cambridge and was previously an AHRC Kluge Fellow at the Library of Congress and a 2019 recipient of a Fondation Jan Michalski writer residency in Switzerland. Dearly Beloved Dearly Beloved is a journey of metamorphosis. A solo performance flirting between installation, physical theatre and dance. In a cocooned alchemic world of their own, an ambiguous character awkwardly distorts and transforms again and again in search of a ‘becoming.’ Interlacing autobiographical stories and influences from myth, popular culture and historical feminine archetypes, Dearly Beloved plays on the experience of the tangible and the surreal. Stemming from a physical inquiry whilst wearing a pink satin bridesmaid’s dress, the creative process is anchored by fostering an interdisciplinary methodology. Dearly Beloved aims to engender a tension through subverting imprinted patriarchal associations beside an unbridled character empowered through silliness and discovery. In collaboration with Yolande Snaith - Dramaturge/outside eye. Maya is a freelance dance artist, performer, maker and teacher based in Glasgow. She performs within Dance, Theatre, TV/Film and Festival/Club. Last year Maya graduated from NSCD with a Distinction level master’s, having completed a yearlong placement with Scottish Dance Theatre. Maya is passionate about sharing practice through artistic collaboration and investing in community centred initiatives. She has worked with visual artists, musicians and filmmakers as well as choreographers and developed work for both theatres and non-conventional performance spaces. Maya was an associate artist with Entelechy Arts Collective and has since worked within many Disability-led Art spaces. As a neurodivergent artist Maya looks at accessibility through practice and in the wider ecology of Dance. She values the creative licence to play, research and re-define language, embracing curiosity rooted in improvisation. Maya celebrates life’s multiplicity and is creatively fuelled by merging other artistic disciplines with dance. She seeks to cultivate joy from collective movement and is interested in performance as a vehicle which offers re-imagined universes. This year Maya has collaborated with Aya Kobayashi and Jack Dickson on an intergenerational community dance project, as well as working alongside choreographers such as Tess Letham, Malcolm Sutherland, Katrina McPherson and Joan Cleville. This summer Maya will perform with Scottish Dance Theatre in Roser Lopez Espinosa's 'The Flock' at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
