Guest UserThis hotel was perfect for our family trip! We put a blanket on the floor for the baby to sleep on. It was really cute seeing our family walk around in matching outfits! In the evening, we went for a swim in the rooftop pool – it was the best!

This was my second time at Hoshino, and I went with friends. Everything was excellent, from the service and facilities to the environment, cleanliness, and food. The entire building faces Beppu Bay, with a minimalist design that still feels warm. The abundant use of white space, wood, and natural light makes it feel like living in a breathing art museum. The public spaces are very quiet, even when the hotel is full, maintaining the consistent understated elegance of the ”Kai” series.

あさひかりThe overall stay experience was excellent, and I would especially like to commend Li-Ying Wu (also known as Go Reiei) from Taiwan.
From the very beginning of the check-in process, she demonstrated a professional attitude by thoroughly explaining all the hotel's facilities and services. She always wore a warm and welcoming smile, which truly reflected her dedication to her work and her respect for the guests.
During my stay, my family had quite a few demanding and complicated requests, requiring frequent assistance from the staff. Throughout it all, Li-Ying patiently addressed every single question without showing any sign of impatience.

The hotel is conveniently located just to the left of the JR Station's East Exit, and its entrance features a beautifully designed Japanese garden. Guests are required to remove their shoes upon entering the hotel. The rooms are quite small, more like a studio apartment, and don't compare to typical onsen hotels. The rooftop onsen has both indoor and outdoor baths, and the relaxation area offers great street views through its large windows. However, there aren't many shower stalls, so you might have to wait during peak hours. There are also eight private onsen baths, each with a different style. I tried one, and while it was a bit small and enclosed, making it feel a little stuffy, it would be perfect for couples. The breakfast was excellent, primarily Japanese cuisine with a wide variety of delicious options. The location is super convenient, with buses right outside the station providing easy access to all the major attractions.

Qian ChinCelebrated 520 (May 20th) by booking a more upscale meal that day, and the experience was great ❤️. The location is fantastic! It's a 5-minute walk to Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell), so we went straight there after breakfast when it was less crowded. Regarding service, I have to say: it was the rainy season, and there were many staff members standing at the entrance, but they only bowed. It felt awkward watching adults and children run into the hotel in the rain to check in, and checking out involved carrying our own luggage in the rain too.

Anonymous UserEverything was perfect in this hotel! Room is spacious and there are both indoor and outdoor private onsen in the room. The futon was the softest and most comfortable I’ve ever had in Japanese onsen hotels.
Dinner was amazing and breakfast was good enough. It would be better if we can choose Japanese or Western style for breakfast. We was looking for grilled fish or sth in Japanese style.
Will visit again definitely!

The environment was great, the food was delicious, and everything was perfect. It was also a great way to enjoy the outdoor family hot springs with your partner or spouse. If the weather is nice in the evening, you can even see the stars.

Well run resorts with top notch service. Set in a very serene surrounding facing paddy fields and mountains. A great base to explore the outdoor options around the Yufu / Beppu area. The dinners and breakfast meals are relatively ‘formal’ but love the variety of traditional Japanese food and the meticulous service by the crew, especially Tami who speaks very good English and introduced us to many local attractions.

This was my first time staying at a hot spring ryokan, and I wasn't quite sure what to expect.
Upon arrival, we were offered welcome tea and snacks, and they even helped us take our luggage to the room. Our stay included dinner and breakfast, and the meals were incredibly rich and delicious. The main course for dinner was Wagyu shabu-shabu. If you don't eat beef, you can inform them in advance. If you wait until the day of, there might be an additional charge.
The room was huge, split over two floors. The bedroom was on the second floor, while the first floor mainly consisted of the living room and a private hot spring area. The private hot spring even had both indoor and outdoor sections, which was a fantastic experience.
Since I don't speak Japanese and only a little English, they were very patient in translating everything during our interactions (check-in, meal explanations, etc.).
When checking out, they escorted us to our car. During check-in, they also asked if we'd like a ride to Yufuin Station upon check-out, but since we had a private car, we didn't use that service, so I'm not sure if there's a charge for it.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Guest UserThis was the accommodation where I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. There were three single beds pushed together, so there was plenty of space to sleep. The toilet and bathroom with a bathtub were separate. There's a washing machine (detergent included) so you can wash anything you need to quickly (though there's no drying rack). Since we stayed for 2 nights, they left fresh towels, amenities, and toothbrushes outside our door the next day. The overall cleanliness was decent.
There's a complimentary drink service, so you can enjoy coffee and a variety of other beverages whenever you're coming or going! There's an outdoor onsen (hot spring) on the 11th floor. It's free from 10 PM to 8 AM, so I enjoyed the hot spring with my child first thing in the morning! Haha.
