GGuest UserGreat hotel with its own spa area and beautiful natural pools right next to the beach. There are a lot of tourists in this region. I would recommend buying water etc. before checking in.
Highly recommended for the nightly price of around €150-170. I wouldn't pay more than that though.

GGuest UserNice hotel that lived up to expectations.
Excellent location in Calheta, right on a golden sand beach, with direct access from the hotel. It is ideal to have a car as it is 30 minutes from Funchal.
It's worth paying extra to have a room with a sea view
The quality and quantity of the food complies with the all-inclusive package, as do the drinks.
Daily and varied entertainment.
Good spa with heated pool, Turkish bath, sauna and cold showers.
Very pleasant outdoor pool area, with plenty of sun loungers and well designed.
Free ping pong, paid billiards (€3/hour).
Very good price/quality ratio.

Gorgeous views from the lounge area, a lovely bar with entertainment at night, excellent service, lovely comfortable rooms, and a very nice pool area. We cannot fault it! The breakfast was also lovely. Would definitely stay here again!

JJRamosA big thank you to the wonderful team at the Golden Residence hotel. From the bottle of sparkling wine to the small gestures like the candy offered at check-out, our stay was excellent. The indoor pool and Turkish bath are a must, in addition to the outdoor pool. The rooms are large, with a living room and kitchenette; the only thing missing was a TV in the bedroom. Very good location.

GGuest UserCleaned every day, good breakfast, great location (hotels part of Funchal, but also walkable to centre), lots of restaurants and shops around, bus stop right outside, pleasant and helpful staff, well maintained pool, pool towels provided.
Only con - old hairdryer, so it gets very hot and smells burnt. Also no iron.

GGuest UserA stunning location and a very comfortable, clean hotel with amazing views from the bedroom and restaurant. Walking opportunities are limited due to the steepness of the terrain but there’s a great path down to Curral do Freitas (45-60 minutes). Service was very good but the vegetarian food was not up to the standards that we expected. Good selection at breakfast but the hot breakfast is not kept warm. Nice jacuzzi and nice, small indoor pool.Certainly worth a visit but could be even better with better food as it’s a long way to the nearest restaurant. €3.35 bus from Funchal (No. 81) but check timetables carefully

GGuest UserI chose a hotel with an ocean view at an affordable price.
As a result, there was a hotel with very spacious rooms, panoramic window, coffee/tea, a comfortable bathroom with bid, a large balcony. The only moments: a separate bed for the couple and a weak shower. Noise of night waves on the amateur:) We had to close the door on the balcony, though it was quite noisy.
The service is very friendly.
Breakfast is delicious and fresh. There are plenty of baking, drinks, cuts and hot.
I didn't expect there would be a free transfer to the center and back. Absolute plus this hotel because it is not in step-by-step access from the center.
The views, the purity near the hotel, its beach is amazing.
Then we lived in the private sector and a lot of what looked at the island, but the first two nights in Orca Praia remained in our heart 💘

GGuest UserThe location, the setting, the facilities and cleanliness is pretty good. The issue is with their service. We tried calling the reception during the working hours and there was no answer. They also did not call us back. If we are lucky, we will see a staff and get some assistance. It is important to have a car of your own otherwise it is difficult to get around in the resort. The total that the hotel charged is way more than what was shown in trip website. Even if I include the city tax it was still high. It is important to give a clear picture of the total amount of the booking. Just to put it in context, there was almost Euro 150 difference between what was shown in Trip website and the final amount that I paid to the hotel. This is a shocker for me. And of course it is not what I want to have a first experience of using Trip website. This needs to be looked into.

AAnonymous UserThe room was simple but very clean. The hotel restaurant offered delicious banana swordfish and macaroni. The service, in particular, was outstanding. During check-in, they provided a thorough introduction to the facilities and even personally guided us around, explaining everything (perhaps because the beachfront pool was accessed via the back garden). Just as we were checking out, we witnessed a guest in the lobby suddenly choking. The front desk staff quickly sprang into action, performing the Heimlich maneuver and saving a life. All in all, everything was fantastic. Their high occupancy rate seems well-deserved. Thumbs up!
