We enjoyed our stay at Mercury hotel and were particularly impressed by how friendly and accommodating the entire hotel staff was. The hotel breakfast buffet was undoubtedly the highlight. There was a great selection of hot and cold items to choose from. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. It was the perfect way to start our day.

Traveling to Datong during the off-season was such a great idea! Can you believe I booked this room for just 98 yuan? This Yanda Hotel is incredibly good value for money. It's located near the ancient city, making it really convenient to get around. The front desk staff even gave us a free upgrade from our original family room. The mattress was so soft and comfortable, I slept wonderfully. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Datong.

We spent out last night of our trip at Kempinski Taiyuan, and it did not disappoint. The receptionist upgraded up to a room on a high floor with a view of the city. They also gave us fresh fruits and free minibar. They had everything you would expect of a five star hotel, and the location is in a bustling part of the city. Would definitely come back.

The service provided by Xiao Yang at the front desk was very good, I liked it very much, the room facilities were complete and the environment was very good 👌 I will choose InterContinental Hotel again when I come back from Mount Wutai next time. The room truly felt like a sanctuary for weary travelers. It was impeccably clean with no strange odors and a clear wet/dry separation in the bathroom. The bedding, made of soft, skin-friendly Xinjiang cotton, combined with excellent supportive memory foam pillows and superb soundproofing, allowed me to instantly unwind and achieve deep sleep. The toiletries were of high quality, and the attention to detail was evident, even down to the thoughtful alcohol wipes next to the toilet, ensuring a top-notch sense of hygiene. However, the service truly is Atour's standout feature! The front desk staff were warm and efficient, making check-in and check-out smooth and quick. Every staff member I encountered greeted me proactively and offered helpful suggestions for local attractions and dining. When traveling with children, they even proactively provided kids' slippers and toiletries, and sometimes offered free room upgrades based on needs. Returning late at night, I was greeted with comforting congee, and at check-out, I received a thoughtful local souvenir. This level of considerate care made me feel truly welcome and valued.

The hotel is excellent! Located in Datong Ancient City, it's incredibly convenient to all the attractions, just a ten-minute drive from anywhere. It's also next to Southeast Yi, a great spot for city walks. The rooms were very comfortable; even in temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius, the rooms were warm and cozy. The service was attentive, and the room amenities were high-quality, matching the hotel's standards. A perfect experience! I'd love to come back in the summer!

The service was excellent: The front desk was friendly and efficient, proactively helping with luggage storage and providing helpful tips for nearby sightseeing. Any requests were quickly responded to, making me feel valued. The room was comfortable and clean: the bedding was soft and comfortable, instantly relaxing. The room was spotlessly clean, and the separate wet and dry bathroom was stocked with high-quality toiletries. Every detail was meticulously thought out. The soundproofing was excellent, and I had a particularly restful night's sleep.

Jianguo Hotel is an older establishment with somewhat outdated facilities and small rooms, though it's clean. I have to talk about the breakfast – it's incredibly varied! There are several made-to-order dishes like lamb powder, pancakes, and knife-cut noodles, plus various local snacks. They even have 6-7 types of bread and 7-8 kinds of fruit. I've stayed in at least 70-80 hotels, and their breakfast is definitely the best. Also, guests at Jianguo Hotel can enjoy a sauna every evening, and the service at the recreation department is top-notch. I stayed for two days and went to the sauna both nights. The staff even placed a cup and a toothbrush with toothpaste squeezed on it right in front of me – the service is thoughtful and the attitude is kind. When I left, they even put the used wet towel in a bag for guests to take away. Next time I come to Datong, I will definitely stay at Yungang Jianguo Hotel again. However, there are still some areas for improvement; the floor in the room had some stains and wasn't cleaned thoroughly enough.

I booked two rooms for 4, and we were given rooms beside each other. We arrived late at night around 9.30pm and check in went smoothly. Rooms were very comfortable and were equipped with SMART tech with voice activation! We were also able to check out a little later upon request since our train left later in the afternoon. I also had packages delivered to the reception and had no issues. Location was great and easy to explore the ancient city and also to see the main wall itself. One thing to note is that there isn't a formal drop off point but you can definitely get dropped off and picked up along the side of the road. The room layout was slightly different than the images on Trip.com (I booked a Double bedroom with courtyard view with a stay voucher), but the room was good too although I would have preferred the toilet configuration in the photos. Overall, a great place to stay and I'd definitely stay here again if I get to come back to Datong. They also have a bakery at the lobby and it gets sold out pretty quickly!

If you're traveling to Linfen, Shanxi, I genuinely recommend Gu Cheng Da Yuan. It's not a hotel in the usual sense; it's more like staying in a living piece of history. The moment you push open the heavy wooden door, the city's hustle and bustle are shut out. It's a genuine old house, not some 'faux-ancient' style. 🛏️ The stay was more comfortable than I expected. The room was spacious, antique in style, but not at all dark. ✔ Underfloor heating + central air conditioning throughout, so no fear of the cold in winter. ✔ Turn on the projector and binge-watching shows in bed at night was incredibly satisfying 📽️. ✔ Welcome fruit, tea, coffee, cocktails 🍹, and afternoon tea 🫖 were all prepared. ✔ 24-hour butler service, always responsive. ✔ Takeout can be delivered directly to the room – super friendly for lazy people. 🥟 The attention to detail was a real bonus. On the Winter Solstice, I actually got to eat dumplings handmade by the hotel, and I suddenly felt 'cared for'. The breakfast menu changes daily, so you don't get tired of it. 💆♀️ This was a truly relaxing, 'lie-flat' vacation. This time, I also tried the newly introduced sound bowl healing at the hotel, which made me so relaxed I didn't want to talk throughout the session. Even if I didn't leave all day, just soaking up the sun, reading, and daydreaming in the courtyard felt completely worth it. 📸 Every corner is picture-perfect. Carved window lattices, grey brick corridors – every spot is Instagrammable.
