We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights while exploring Datong and surrounding attractions. The location was perfect for us - nestled between both major train stations, a short walk to the old city, and conveniently very close to the bus station to the Hanging Monastry. The staff were very polite and helpful, some could speak some English. We were given various complimentary gifts and desserts during our stay. We loved the free tea (of various varieties) in the lobby! The room was a little old but clean, comfortable and quiet. I guess the only complaint is the elevator - they only have two but about 14 floors and it was utter chaos trying to move about in the morning when everyone wants to check out. Small issue though.

The place was good. It wasn't big in anything but the owner pick us up and left us in the high speed train station and also kept giving us bottles of water. They were very nice people. The location is really good, 5-10 walk from the big main street but enoughly separated from them to not have any noise. The room was not the cleanest that we have been but nor the dirtiest too, it was good enough. The bed although we were a bit scared, because it was a bit hard, we slept pretty well.

We spent two wonderful nights at Yungang Hotel in Datong. First of all, our deepest gratitude to Yang wen yuan - 杨文元. When booking from Europe, we did not realise correctly the time required to get to the caves and to the hanging monastery (a must view when in Datong). We thought that by using public transport we could manage to do both in a short period of time. So wrong! We arrived and Yang wen yuan - 杨文元 reassured us and in less than 30 minutes he was able to help and book for us a private car for the next day. He made our stay unforgettable. Thanks a lot from both of us if you are reading ! Plus, this hotel is wonderful : super new, technological and the staff is super kind (from the ones in the lobby to the ones in the restaurant/cafeteria). Breakfast is amazing. You can have everything, freshly made for you.

The location of the inn is very good. It is in the ancient city. It is very close to the main street and scenic spots. It is convenient for eating and playing. I really like the small yard in front of the room, where I can drink tea and chat with my colleagues. The front desk and waiters are friendly, the cleaning is timely, and the facilities are complete. They also gave small gifts to each room when leaving, which is considerate and recommended.

I read some bad reviews and felt very nervous. Because I was traveling with my mother, my parents had requirements for accommodation. So after arriving at the hotel, my mother asked to see if the room was really like the introduction. The receptionist Xu Lu and a tall and thin boy at the front desk warmly welcomed us. They were on duty at 1:27 on October 9 and took us to room 8727. We checked in only after we were satisfied. Knowing that we came from the south, they kindly asked the guest room to send a humidifier and brought me 4 more bottles of water. I like their service. Entering the room, it was the same as the pictures on the Internet. The room was really big, clean and hygienic. The most considerate thing was that there were disposable toilet seats in the bathroom. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. When I returned to the hotel on the third night, I saw a note in the guest room, specially giving us a portable chrysanthemum, which was really considerate. It was really comfortable to stay here for three nights. My mother was very satisfied. Those bad reviews were deliberately slandering this restaurant. The breakfast variety is very rich, and the price-performance ratio is really good. Next time I bring my kids to Datong, I will definitely choose your hotel.

The hotel is in a very good location, right on the road, with hotels and shopping malls nearby, making it very convenient for shopping and eating. The hotel front desk lady was very enthusiastic in helping me upgrade my room type. The apartment-style hotel password check-in was very convenient. The bathroom was very good with dry and wet separation, and there were free disposable face towels and bath towels, which felt very considerate. There is a large paid parking lot downstairs of the hotel, and there are hot pot restaurants, Hunan restaurants, knife-cut noodles, local specialty drinks, etc. There are also Sunji buns and knife-cut noodles nearby, so you can experience Datong cuisine when you go out.

This lovely hotel gets 6 out of 5 stars!! It is located a 5 min. Walk from the main street, not too far of the gate where you can catch a taxi to the train station. However the hotel organised a pickup from the gate, which they did not charge for. The room is probably the best room we have rented ever, definitely in this price range you won't find a better one. It was super clean, new, huge comfortable bed, everything was working as advertised. The bathroom is super modern with the most advanced toilet. Outside the room is a lovely sitting or smoking area where you can chill. The host is really attentive and friendly, perfect. I can recommend this hotel, you won't be disappointed!!

Location: I don’t know much about Datong, but it’s the closest to Fantawild. I came to watch the concert, and it’s also close to the stadium. health: The tidying up was pretty good. Auntie is very nice. Amazing location, right next to taiyuan south rail station. But it is far from town. It is great if you are just catching the fast train. Service is fine but nothing extraordinary. It is very clean. Spread at breakfast is decent but no coffee. If you need coffee, don't come here

Good location, service and breakfast. Pipa old Inn is located in Datong Ancient City which is surrounded by four walls. It is about 50m from Bell Tower. Stop at Bell Tower and walk 50m to Pipa Old Inn.

I booked a family room with two beds. The room I first entered smelled of new furniture. I was moved to the room opposite. The smell was much smaller, but it was very dry. I asked the front desk every day for water and humidifier. , this place is quite new. I always take a taxi when I go out. Taxi is very convenient and it takes orders very quickly. You need to make a Didi call in advance in Hangzhou. On the day I came back from Yingxian, I saw a lot of delicious barbecue stalls in Yungang District. The smoke from the fireworks was much stronger than where I live. The hotel is in the new city area and the environment is not bad. I recommend everyone to eat Long Juxiang, it’s delicious ~ very suitable for the taste of Hangzhou people haha. I still went to Zini 369. For the Northern Wei Dynasty family banquet, the most recommended one is Long Juxiang. I heard from the driver that this restaurant is also very good for three courses. Generally speaking, Datong is delicious, fun and not expensive, but Taiyuan is not so delicious.

The inn is full of birdsong and flowers. It is opposite the Huayan Temple and the transportation in the ancient city is very convenient. The boss and the boss lady are very welcoming. They took the initiative to upgrade my room after staying for four days. There is a large desk and tea table in the patio, a rockery pond, goldfish and turtles, a parrot named Xiaohui, a squirrel and many birds. I hope Xiaohui can chat with me next time I come, hahahaha.

I loved this hotel. It has an old-fashioned charm that made me feel right at home. My room was very large, comfortable, and well-equipped. All of the staff and service people were extremely courteous from start to finish. The Chinese restaurant on the 7th floor has a great choice of dishes! Highly recommended, and excellent value for money. A great base for exploring the sights around Datong.

Excellent. Done in the traditional hotel style but with very modern in-room amenities. Bathroom is clean and private, with nice shower including good quality—free flow—shampoo and bodywash, clean toilet and a proper door (no glass bathrooms here!). It’s so hard to find a hotel room like this these days. Most importantly, all the staff were totally amazing, and the manager is so friendly and keen to help and can speak some English which makes things all the easier. There are quite a few shaokao and noodle places around the hotel, and importantly, the snowman drink place (蜜雪冰城) is not too far away! The hotel is just a couple of Ks south of the most popular entrance to the amazing ancient wall (大同古城), and in the other direction, about five hundred metres to another nice park called Mingtan Park where I flew my new drone for the first time ever while a local man practiced perfectly his Taoist meditation completely undeterred by the annoying whirring sound of the drone! My only regret is not planning more than a single night here. There’s so much more to Datong than just the Yungang Grottoes and the Hengshan Hanging Temple (though they are both totally spectacular!), so stay a couple of nights at least if you can.

This is the best and value for money hotel I stayed in last 12 days trip from Beijing, Datong, Taiyuan, Pingyao, Xian. The room is nice, breakfast is good, hotel room even provide you with a washing machine in tge room with detergent free. Highly recommended and great for longer stay. Cheers

The room is large, the dry and wet areas are well separated, and the rest is very good. It is close to the subway, and theoretically it is very convenient to go to the Bell and Drum Tower (although I took a taxi these days and didn't experience the Taiyuan subway). The mutton soup for breakfast is great, and I tasted it for two consecutive days. Next time I come to Shanxi, I will continue to choose the southern route

This time I'm not talking about quality, I'm talking about service. As someone who travels for more than 100 days a year, I give this hotel 0 points for service. I checked in at 10:30 pm and used my points to redeem a room upgrade. When I checked in, I asked the front desk that I had already applied for a room upgrade on Ctrip, so I could get a room upgrade. He immediately turned his face up and didn't even bother to check. He didn't even pretend. He immediately said that the room was full. I opened the Ctrip APP to show him that all room types were on sale, and it was unclear which room was full. Less than half an hour later, I called Ctrip to report the problem, and it was even funnier. The front desk and Ctrip customer service said that the room was full and someone had just checked out, but they upgraded it. It's ridiculous. I want to know who would check out after 10 pm. It's a good excuse. Anyway, this matter is not over. I will contact Jinjiang later to deal with it.

This time when I traveled to Taiyuan, I stayed at Vienna International Hotel Taiyuan South Station. This hotel has complete facilities, clean and tidy environment, and excellent service. In particular, the attitude of each service staff is very friendly, and any needs can be solved immediately, which is really great. Next time I come to Taiyuan, Shanxi, I will definitely choose this hotel again👍

The room is clean and hygienic. Great service! The location is close to the train station and convenient for travel. Although it faces the road, it is not noisy at all if the windows are closed. Great value for money. There is just a problem with the bathroom design. Overall satisfied.

I stayed at Huayuan Hotel three days ago. I returned to Taiyuan from Datong and continued to stay at Huayuan Hotel. I didn’t ask the hotel to pick me up this time because I got off at Taiyuan Station and was already familiar with the location of the hotel. I booked another two nights this time. The hotel's breakfast was really good, with many varieties, almost up to the standard of a buffet. If I could go back to the hotel at noon, I could also go to the restaurant to eat a slice of noodles. Unfortunately, I stayed there for three days, every day. I wasn’t in the hotel at noon, so I couldn’t arrive, haha! On the last day, I asked the front desk clerk if I could check out late, and the front desk readily agreed without saying anything. After checking out, the hotel driver took me to Taiyuan South Station. He was punctual and polite. I must like it! I wish Huayuan Hotel business will prosper in the future!

The hotel is really nice and in the authentic style of Pingyao. It is quite closed from the east gate and from the ancient city center. The owner is really friendly, speaks good English and is doing everything to make you enjoy your stay. He did explained very well all the activity and provide help if needed. The room is clean and we didn't care about the size as we were out all day. If I have to suggest one thing, it will be to have bigger mattresses as they are quite hard but it's a personal preference.

Excellent central location steps away from the best street, very friendly and helpful manager who helped us with a car and laundry. The room was clean, with a big bed and great bathroom/shower, good AC too. Everything was perfect

Lovely hotel right in the heart of the walled city. Be aware entrance is trough a hairdresser. Spacious and modern rooms, very clean and traditional. Before you visit be advised, taxis cannot enter walled town therefore cannot reach the hotel. Ask taxi driver to drop you off at the East gate of the walls and from there take the golf cart like vehicles (only taxi service allowed within the walled area) to reach the hotel. If you speak mandarin you may be able to get the service for free from the hotel, couldn't get it before check in but they kindly drove me to the East Gate for free when I left. Closest gate to the hotel is the South but has no vehicular access, if carrying luggage, always use East Gate.

Hotel was in a beautifully restored building, staff was nice but did not speak English. Cleanliness was ok, however I found many long hair in the room I believe housekeeping did not use vacuum cleaner. The reason why I would not stay here again is that it was impossible to relax. I could hear any noise coming from the courtyard, including photographers giving loud instructions for hours and hours to models dressed in traditional Chinese clothes. I was even asked to move out from the picture when I dared to access my room.

Environment: The hotel is in a good location in the ancient city, near Rishengchang Ticket Office, which is convenient for dining and visiting the ancient city. The hotel is built on the basis of a 200-300-year-old house, where you can experience the old architectural culture of Shanxi. Facilities: Complete and comprehensive, especially friendly to the elderly, the bathroom has stools and barrier-free facilities, the room has a place to dry clothes, and there is a place to drink tea and take a rest in the yard, which is very humane. Service: The service of his family is worth praising, especially the meticulous service of the housekeeper. Our housekeeper Xiao Wang was thoughtful, careful, patient and enthusiastic from room booking to hotel stay to check-out, leaving us with unforgettable and beautiful memories of our Pingyao trip.

Very beautiful guesthouse with amazing patios! Very nice owners! The lady can speak English and help book tours with a guide which helped us a lot. Breakfast available, both Chinese and continental. Very good location within the old city, close to one of the main streets. We loved our stay there and highly recommend this guesthouse!

We really loved it! It is located right in the heart of the ancient city, but in a cozy backyard so it is quiet and easy to sleep. The bed was very comfortable and big. The shower was great with good pressure and hot temperature. Our stay included Breakfast which was very tasty and filling. The hosts were very forthcoming and friendly. We would definetly stay here again.
