Basecamp Hostel is a good place with a welcoming structure, but there are a few things that could be improved. I’ve stayed here a couple of times before, but they didn’t consider my request to stay in the same room. Some other guests had issues with the air conditioning in their room, which wasn’t working quite inconvenient for them.
Additionally, towels are locked, and you can’t take one yourself. Having access to only one towel per day is not enough. I also asked if they could store a suitcase for about a month while I traveled to Bali, but they said no.
I think the hostel could be more flexible and offer additional services, especially for returning guests. Overall, it was a positive experience, but there’s definitely room for improvement in customer care and amenities.

This is by far the most disgusting place I have ever stayed in... Where do I begin? The hostel on first appearance is unkempt, unhygienic and overcrowded. The dorm room had clearly not been cleaned properly, there was toe nail clippings on the window seal, dirty tissues under the bed, dust everywhere and just smelt as if there hadn’t been any fresh air circulating for a while. There was a air conditioning unit in the room that could only be operated by reception which meant by nighttime, the room was just being blasted with freezing cold, regurgitated air. (Not pleasant when sharing with three other people in a confined space). The only saving grace was the fact that there was a window by the bed. As for the rest of the facilities, the bathrooms were ok, however could do with a lick of paint and a bit more cleaning. The ‘tv room’ upstairs is fairly undesirable and to be avoided! The whole area just smelt musty/damp/sweaty. Not forgetting, the dirty boxers that seemed to make a permanent residence on the floor or armrest of the sofa. Niceee! The kitchen/common area was equally as filthy and cramped. Very much a party hostel. Found it very strange that we had no communication with any of the hostel staff members, even when checking in/out; this was all done by text message? It seemed as if anyone and everyone could walk into the hostel which is concerning in terms of security. Please avoid!

Likes: * cubbies + labels in kitchen for food storage * plug in lockers / size of lockers * donation bin in washer room (cute) * dvds for TV room (just ask reception) * Individual lights at beds * free pancake (mix) at breakfast - you have to make it yourself, pls don’t be THAT person who asks another traveller if they’re the cooks for breakfast 🥴 Dislikes: * no ovens * half hobs don’t work - issues with gas/ignitions * no plug near bed, only in the lockers and 1 to share in the room * they don’t change the duvet cover if you don’t strip it which is ming 🤢 (we saw cleaners replacing sheets but not duvets) * Mattresses were quite dippy - obviously don’t get turned or rotated that much Improvements: * activities + social board (only 1 social activity the entire 12 days we stayed) * The promotion board in the reception area was mostly outdated. It would have been good to know what’s happening locally in the present, not what happened a few months ago

GGuest UserThe room was comfy; The TV was a good size; The bed was a king size & good to sleep on. We had a buffet breakfast & dinner each day. The staff managed to keep up the service. The food was ok. The staff was extremely busy & run off their feet. A big thank you to Christian & Jane for looking after us. The site is the perfect location. Close to the city & landmarks. An ideal base to travel from to tourist destinations. We loved it.

GGuest UserDon’t judge a book by its cover. The outside is a bit dated only Our room was so nice and clean and new renovated. The bed is so comfy. The owners and staff are so friendly and accommodating There is a nice outdoor area to sit in at the back of the property Close to everything you will need like pubs, shops, diners, coffee shops and super markets Bus stop across the road to head to the city
GGuest UserNo reception or front counter. To get in is is similar to booking cases at the airport with a computer system at the front door. Had a problem with the operation (probably me) and no sense out of the first phone call for help but no worries with the second call to another number. The place is looking a bit tired in the hall ways however painters are working out side so maybe going to do the interior. The room was good size being an older place, bathroom new and modern, overall a nice room with usual facilities, a look out over the city. 10th floor. Would go back again in the future.
GGuest UserAlthough staff at reception were friendly and helpful, management need to allocate more resources to cleaning (as I’m sure the limited staff do what they can with the time they are allocated to clean each room). The state of my room was disappointing to say the least. Rubbish was left from the previous occupier in the bathroom cupboard and with the tea/coffee supplies. The floor looked like it had not been vacuumed. The thick layer of dust along the top of the bed head was unbelievable. It was warm in the room but the ceiling fan was filthy and therefore I didn’t want to use it. Thankfully the toilet, shower and bedsheets were clean but I honestly thought about leaving within 5 minutes of my arrival! The small on-site parking is handy, but it’s tricky to manoeuvre into and only available if you’re in early. The website photo of the executive room suggests it overlooks the park. Sadly, a view of the car park was for us, but the good thing about this was that it reduced the noise from the street. I will not stay at Ensenada again. I will avoid Glenelg as well - too noisy (late night bars), too busy, and quite grubby overall.
GGuest UserPerfect location for our drive Perth to Melbourne, easy access from and to the highway. Spacious, clean room with table, couch, TV, aircon and very comfortable bed. Ensuite a little outdated but the room had been freshened up. We had trouble connecting to the wifi. The restaurant was closed on our visit but we ordered room service and enjoyed our meal. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Be aware that while there is a 'late check-in' window, a sign on the door said that reception hours had changed to 8am - 8pm (when we booked the site said it was open all night... it might be wise to check ahead if you're likely to be later) Good, clean accommodation. We had a good stay.
GGuest UserThe hotel is only 200 meters from the shopping center and is super convenient. The room is well equipped and very comfortable. The breakfast I had in my room was delicious. We live in a townhouse with an extra large double bed and another room with two single beds. Parking is convenient and no money. There is also a swimming pool in the yard. satisfaction!
AAnonymous UserThis motel is perfect for a short stay when visiting Adelaide via car. Easy to get to being close to the main highways and roads in and out of Adelaide. Rooms had everything you needed for a short stay (except a microwave).
Reception charge a $50 deposit for your stay so keep that in mind when checking in, you get it back on checkout but was a little shocked with how high this was considering we’ve been travelling around Australia for the past three months and never had a deposit this high.
The rooms weren’t the cleanest and we opted to use our own doona as the one in our room had stains and smelt off, same again with the pillows with my partners one smelling of urine.
Wasn’t a bad nights stay for the price, hopefully they fix a few things and I would stay again.
GGuest UserLove the atmosphere of this hotel I would recommend this hotel to anyone who want to stay in Adelaide ether on business or pleasure It is the best kept secret in town Great location to the city and easy to find your way from here Thank you to the Staff
DDANAfter living in the hotel for three weeks, I can say that I am going to be a master. The rooms are large and well-equipped. The location is very good, the bus arrives at the airport, the hotel is next to Glenelg Beach, and it takes about a few minutes to get to the beach. The harbor branch at the doorway stopped a lot of boats. The weather in July was very cold in the morning and evening, and it was hot at noon. The sky is blue, and the sea is also. The hotel goes to outlet, IKEA, the airport is very convenient, there are buses in all directions; it is also very convenient to go to the city, in most cases we choose the bus or the tram on the beach. Along the way there are big lawns and houses with garages, everything is fresh. There are a lot of foods near the hotel. There is a high-price seafood buffet. Go over 1-2mins and recommend to eat at noon on weekdays. The price is cheap. Walking 4-5mins towards the beach is a row of restaurants facing the harbour, with the best oysters and a variety of fresh ingredients. The city’s restaurant wine is said to be a major feature. Going a little further to the beach is the lively pedestrian street. The tram is slowly smashing on the road, with ice cream shops and various gourmet shopping shops on both sides. Adelaide in July was winter, still cold, didn't go swimming in the pool, but the pool looked clean. There is no embarrassment in this city, only a steady life and a fireworks atmosphere.
