I couldn't recommend this place more! We went for a superior room, one of the lodges and the view was incredible, the setting was so peaceful looking out onto the hills and Windermere lake. Breakfast was a full English and continental which was brilliant. We loved the views, peace, huge room, great, friendly staff, can't find another setting quite like this in the dales for such a reasonable price and for such a good cause. Can't wait to return! Don't hesitate booking one of the superior room lodges they're beautiful! Plus, the location was absolutely amazing, just a 25 ISH minute walk or three minute drive into Ambleside, great central location for lots of popular places.
Wateredge Inn- the Inn Collection Group

Traditional small English hotel, downstairs is the bar. English breakfast is provided. The house is a wooden structure ➕ later remodeled. The whole hotel is full of paintings and photography about the lake area. The reception is friendly. But note that it is a 20-minute walk from Ambleside.
Lakehouse at the Waterhead Inn

We had a very comfortable four day stay at Ambleside Lake House. It is set in an elevated position in a beautiful garden, overlooking part of Lake Windemere, just slightly outside the busy centre of Ambleside. Our room overlooking the garden on the first floor was spacious and light. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was of high quality and varied. A thank you to the friendly staff that made us feel welcome.

Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms and good parking. Located only a mile walk from the ferry and a short step away from the centre on Ambleside. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. Will definitely be booking again for a return trip.

YHA Hawkshead

Back at YHA Hawkshead for a 3 night staying in a private room. We were in the Courtyard building. We used the self-catering kitchen and found the facilities to be great. The outdoor shower was a new addition - fun to take a shower in a corrugated tin shed in the outdoors! We had a few games of Pool in the games room one evening as well as a game of Scrabble in the courtyard lounge. It was lovely to encounter families with young children who were in the teepees and camping pods. We ourselves cycled from the hostel to Grizedale forest on one day and walked around Tarn Hows on another. Also got to swim in Coniston lake and in High Dam tarn. A great summer break in the Lakes!
