GGuest UserI stumbled upon this place by chance and was pleasantly surprised! The room was clean and hygienic, the environment was great, and it wasn't noisy at night. The public areas had complete facilities. It's a shame I didn't find it when I first arrived in Shanghai. The environment is really good, and the bedding is clean, though you do have to put on the sheets and duvet covers yourself. In the shared rooms, each person gets a locker that requires a key card to open, which feels very secure.

GGuest UserWhat an amazing experience! The front desk staff was so enthusiastic. When she saw me struggling with two suitcases, she greeted me while rushing over to open the door and even tried to help me with my luggage. It almost made this big guy embarrassed!
The facilities inside were exactly as pictured, even better. The absolute highlight was the huge 200-300 square meter drying area on the top floor – probably the largest online. Six washing machines and dryers lined up in a row were a huge convenience for long-term guests, and the drying area has a transparent roof, so it's good come rain or shine. The drying area is so massive that a portion of it has been converted into a relaxation zone, with starry string lights on the ceiling. Imagine a few beers and a barbecue up there on a summer night – simply fantastic!

GGuest UserThe location of Dengba Hostel is simply tailor-made for lazy travelers! Right outside the door is the subway, no need to wait for buses or taxis, you can go wherever you want, whenever you want. These past few days in Shanghai, I woke up naturally every morning, then slowly took the subway to explore, and came back when I was tired at night, with absolutely no hassle. This kind of travel is truly relaxing! Front desk staff Xiao Wang provided excellent service.

GGuest UserAbsolutely fantastic! The value for money here is unbeatable. The location is incredibly convenient, just a 2-minute walk from the metro station. The rooms were spotless and tidy. What's more, the common areas also feature self-service amenities and a relaxing tea lounge. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I'm in Shanghai for either business or leisure.

The entire place was clean and tidy; both the common areas and the beds were meticulously maintained, with no strange odors or clutter. The bunk beds were comfortable with clean, soft bedding, and the soundproofing was decent, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The front desk staff were friendly and patient, promptly addressing any issues, and both check-in and check-out were smooth. The communal bathrooms were cleaned frequently, hot water was consistent, and toiletries were well-stocked – the attention to detail was impressive. The location is convenient, making it easy to get around and go shopping. It offers fantastic value for money. I'll definitely prioritize staying here again next time I'm in the area, I truly recommend it to everyone!

GGuest UserThe room was very clean, and the bunk beds in the dorm room had spacious and practical shelves with combination locks for storage. Most of the guests were considerate; it was generally quiet and peaceful at night. The restrooms and showers were separated by gender, and the disposable toilet seat covers provided a sense of security. The front desk staff was very kind, and they offered free luggage storage before check-in and after check-out (though you have to put your belongings in the storage room yourself, which made me a little worried about others potentially rummaging through them).
There were also a cockatiel and a lovebird in a pet cage in the abandoned (?) cafe on the first floor. I wonder who's taking care of the little parrots 🥹
The only minor drawback was the cleanliness of the washbasin area. It clearly hadn't been cleaned regularly, with limescale, mold, and a lot of hair around the edges. Some guests also washed their dishes in the sink, leaving food residue, which was a bit unhygienic.

JJohnnyfromLAAka “Dengba Inn” on southern edge of Jing’An district, 15min walk from Former French Concession area. Good hostel overall, medium size (holds ~100ppl but feels cozier), seems all Chinese nationals (I saw 1 other foreigner the entire time). Cheap price for FFC, 1/3rd the price of hostel dormbeds directly in FFC area. Surrounding area is not that busy with many restaurant options. If you’re calling car and not actually walking to FFC everyday, I’d just stay further and call taxi to reach FFC.
Good size rooms, comfy sturdy beds…light, plug, many hooks & hangers, AC. My 4-bed dorm had lots of storage, also workdesk in room. Some 6-8 bed dorms have private bathrooms. Largest 10-12 bed dorms don’t have workdesk and storage in room. Shared bathrooms not the cleanest but doable, nice that some have sink and toilet together. Lowcost laundry machines, free detergent, but machines didn’t work while I was there.
Vibe not social at all. Just dozen people coworking/eating in quiet common areas, no music played. However very peaceful with plenty of seating and lounge space to work without distractions.

MM52199****The hostel is conveniently located near Exit 10 of Hanzhong Road Metro Station, close to the Shanghai Talent Market. The front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful. The dormitory beds have curtains for privacy, a mirror, and charging sockets. The shared bathrooms were clean. Overall, I had a great stay.

BBlackeyedsamuraiBooked this hotel last minute, cause my favorite hotel is closing down business this month and i wanted something nearer cause I’m well versed with the surrounding areas, 1: the first red flag is the reception, mail and deliveries are all piled up and falling off shelves, it’s so dirty and humid, it looks like a hoarder’s poach, they’re no waiting chairs, so you’ll stand while they process the guests that came before you until it’s your turn !! The receptionists are very nice and helpful .
2; no room housekeeping ( you’ll have to ask for someone to come take the rubbish and give you towels or change your bedding.
3: THE FILTH!!! The filth is on level 1000/100 the grime made it hard for me to shower with my eyes open, I’m not sure if the place has a manager and if they care about the the wellbeing of the clients , because from what i saw, the cleaners don’t even bother, the floor had food stains from i think when they just opened, the sink🤮 the bathroom ( that one corner gave me the hibbigibeis) the toilet seat was broken
, everything in the bathroom was broken and dirty , then my charger fell in the space which is between the bathroom glass and the bed, got down to retrieve it and i decided it was best to just a get a new charger instead.
The place if cleaned and cared for would be an amazing hotel apartment, it has great amenities , a washing machine a fridge and a drying rack if you upgrade to a bigger room, a kitchenette that would be great if you are interested in cooking and staying longer and it’ has an Aldi downstairs, a gym and lots of other great places surrounding it . I really hope the owners would read this and take it into consideration and carry out serious supervision or else their property will lose value, The hygiene of the hotel does not only ensure the health and wellness of the visitors who sleep in those walls but also keeps the property value up. Dirt And filth only brings it down and puts the health of others at risk . I really hope they change standards.
