My stay at the Peace Hotel this time was arguably the best hotel experience ever! It truly lives up to its reputation as a benchmark for hotels in Shanghai, and even nationwide.
**Service:** The front desk upgraded me to a city view room, from which I could see the Bund by looking left out the window. Noticing that my companion had a birthday that day, they specially sent a homemade cake. The service attitude and attentiveness of all the hotel staff were absolutely top-notch.
**Cleanliness:** You can tell the meticulous effort put into maintaining and cleaning the rooms just by the tidiness of the carpet. It looked like it had just been laid, and even the corners were spotless.
**Ambiance:** The historical legacy of the Peace Hotel and its irreplaceable location are truly unique. The European vintage decor gives the rooms an understated luxury and 'old money' feel. It's an experience that can be rated as a must-stay once in a lifetime when visiting Shanghai.
**Summary:** The 3000 RMB room rate is absolutely worth it~

GoingRateFive-star review! My stay at MGM Cotai this time was absolutely fantastic. The high-altitude river view offered a wide, open vista, and the room was quiet and comfortable with excellent amenities. Cici called me beforehand and learned it was my birthday, so she thoughtfully decorated the room for me. It was elegant and tasteful, not overly showy, just perfect. Her service was professional and attentive; she even reminded me to be careful about the heat before I went out. Communication throughout my stay was efficient and hassle-free. It was a truly memorable experience that combined a sense of occasion with ultimate comfort.

YizhixiaobingganaSummary: The worst service I've ever encountered in a hotel of this caliber.
I stayed for 2 days. On the first night when I checked in, I noticed there was no doorman at the hotel entrance to open car doors or help with luggage. I asked the front desk if no one was on duty at night. The manager, who had a great attitude, said someone might have been out delivering something, and that it was quieter at night but they would improve. (He had a very good attitude and offered me breakfast, though I didn't eat it as I don't usually have breakfast).
Then I asked the front desk for a latex pillow. I waited for half an hour upstairs, but it wasn't delivered. When I called, they said they forgot.
Next, while looking for a charging port by the bed, I knocked over a glass and got really annoyed as to why the glass was placed by the bedside late at night (this was my fault, as I was quite angry at the time). The manager, with a great attitude, came to help clean it up, and I even went to the front desk the next day to apologize.
Second day: I left my earphones, cigarettes, and lighter in the car. I messaged the driver to arrange for the concierge to bring them up. They were never brought up until the next day when I was checking out to go to the airport. I asked the driver why they hadn't been brought up, and the driver said he had given them to the concierge last night. I went to ask: the concierge said they forgot to deliver them.
By the way: when I returned to the hotel on the second night, I still noticed there was no doorman or security. Car doors and luggage were unattended.
I really don't know! What exactly is the concierge at this hotel doing! What are they responsible for!!!
Facilities: The facilities are very good, the rooms are large, and the walk-in closet is excellent. I usually try out the pool and gym at every hotel, but I wasn't in the mood this time. I won't be coming back.

Honestly, this hotel can only be called a designer brand, definitely not a luxury one! From the ambiance to the service. I arrived quite late and asked the front desk if food delivery could be brought to the room. Their clear answer was that food needs to be picked up, but personal items can be delivered. I ordered antiperspirant, and the courier delivered it to the front desk. I called twice, and the front desk didn't answer! There was a 10-minute gap, and then it just rang busy! So I went to pick it up myself, only to find a female employee at the front desk in the lobby who asked me why I didn't call?!!! I retorted, 'Did you even answer?!' When I arrived at the front desk, I bought breakfast separately. The next day, realizing I wouldn't have time to eat, I asked to cancel it. First, they told me it couldn't be canceled. I asked him which law stated that an unredeemed item couldn't be refunded, and he immediately said he'd put in a request. Why bother putting guests through that emotional hassle? Also, the showerhead in the room was loose!!! And the paint was peeling at the connection! Apparently, my room was even jokingly called a 'cattle and horse room' because it was super close to the office building across the street! Super close! I came with high expectations but left quite disappointed!!

Zhaoyisheng525My family and I really loved the room's minimalist Scandinavian/Japanese style, with its natural wood and white tones. It's a welcome change from the 'nightclub' vibe of the W Hotel we stayed at before â I actually prefer this! The pillows are really soft and comfortable. The hotel's location is excellent; I especially enjoyed sitting in the 1st-floor restaurant, watching the diverse crowd from all over the world pass by on Nanjing Road. Our room had a side window with a view of the Oriental Pearl Tower, which is exactly why I booked this room. As for cleanliness, it goes without saying for a hotel of this caliber. The overall atmosphere is fantastic, and the best part is that you can truly relax and be yourself. Lewis, a staff member, was very professional and provided excellent service. Although the hotel doesn't have its own parking lot, they offer complimentary valet parking for one car per room, which was quite convenient. When we picked up the car, a few staff members even mentioned they were from my hometown, which was a nice touch. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Shanghai!

Guest UserThe balcony view was amazing; no need to jostle for space at a crowded viewing platform. I just sat comfortably and watched the entire cliffside light show. It was wonderful to escape everyday worries and unwind for a night in this unique 'underground' hotel, 88 meters below ground level. The architectural marvel itself was incredibly impressive, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations â definitely worth a special trip for an overnight stay.
A special thanks to Bruce for his attentive service. He was kind, patient, and responded quickly to our requests, handling everything thoughtfully and appropriately. His excellent service truly enhanced our trip to the Deep Pit Hotel, and he deserves high praise!

Anonymous UserI chose this hotel because it was recommended by Ctrip as the number one hotel for room views. I often stay at Banyan Tree hotels when I'm vacationing abroad. However, the Banyan Tree Shanghai was quite a disappointment.
First, I'm not sure how it topped Ctrip's list. There are many hotels with better views at the same price point. The standard rooms here only offer a view of the river. If you're going for a deluxe room, there are definitely better hotels to choose from.
I arrived at the hotel around 9 PM, and the ambient lighting was very dim, which gave a poor first impression.
During check-in, it was the first time a five-star hotel tried to upsell me a room upgrade. It felt like I was at an all-season hotel being pushed to sign up for a membership card.
I mentioned that it was my birthday the next day and asked if the hotel could provide some decorations. The response was that I'd need to inform the front desk again tomorrow for the decoration service. Why do I need to inform them twice? Most hotels offer concierge services nowadays, but Banyan Tree requires me to go to the front desk again the next day for decorations. This really shows a lack of service awareness.
Ctrip automatically offers room upgrades, and since it was my birthday, I rarely encounter situations where an upgrade isn't given. When I asked why I couldn't be upgraded, they said there were no rooms available. However, I checked the room availability and saw there were. When I asked again, they replied it depends on the situation and couldn't be arranged at that moment.
Upon reaching my room, I ordered takeout, only to find that it could only be delivered to the entrance. I then had to call the front desk to confirm my order before staff would bring it up, which was very inconvenient.
After opening the window, the view was actually mediocre â half river view, half of the offices in the opposite securities building (clearly visible). It was a far cry from the advertised scenic views.
I wanted to upgrade my room and asked a staff member to show me around. After the tour, I was told there were no rooms available.
I went to the hotel pool and found it to be an underground children's pool, also selling ** fitness packages. The pool walls were old and moldy. I really wouldn't recommend it.
On the positive side:
The staff member who showed me the upgraded room, the restaurant staff, the bellboy, and the rooftop bar staff were all very pleasant and provided genuine service.
The hotel breakfast was excellent, plentiful, and delicious, and served until 12 PM.
Check-out time could be arranged flexibly.
Ignoring the view with the window closed, the room space arrangement was very good.
In summary: It's an older five-star hotel, half of which feels outdated and the upselling felt a bit 'low-rent.' The other half still maintains the standards of a high-end hotel. Overall, the value for money is low, and the comfort level is also low.

Guest UserMy stay at The Middle House Shanghai was excellent. The hotel's location is superb, with direct access to Taikoo Hui via an internal passage. The breakfast was also a highlight, served Ă la carte with a wide variety of options. Nifty provided outstanding service, helping with the room introduction and offering meticulous assistance throughout my stay. Overall, it was a great experience and well worth a visit.

This stay was undoubtedly the most healing and unforgettable highlight of my trip, filled with comfort and warmth from start to finish, making it truly memorable. The hotel rooms were sophisticated and elegant, with a well-designed layout and exquisite, grand decor, showcasing quality in every detail. The room was clean, tidy, and bright, with a cozy and comfortable ambiance. Every small detail showed meticulous care, making me feel incredibly relaxed and completely fulfilling all my expectations for an ideal living space.
What surprised me most was the hotel's Spago restaurant. The overall ambiance was perfect, with beautiful scenery and a unique style. Both the interior design and the atmosphere were striking. Dining here was not just a treat for the taste buds but also an ultimate visual feast. The romantic and soothing atmosphere made it my dream restaurant and one of the biggest surprises of this trip.
The beauty of a journey, beyond the excellent environment, also comes from thoughtful and warm service. Here, I want to sincerely thank my four butlers: Frieda, Leo, Kirana, and Susanna. During my stay, they were consistently meticulous, attentive, and patient, always monitoring my experience and proactively addressing all my needs with professional and gentle service.
Their thorough care and perfectly attentive service washed away the fatigue of travel, making me, a stranger in a foreign land, feel a long-lost sense of security and warmth, truly experiencing the ultimate feeling of being at home. The excellent environment, the stunning restaurant views, combined with perfect and heartwarming service, created a flawless stay. This short visit has left me with an abundance of wonderful memories, and I am already eagerly looking forward to my next return. I will definitely choose this place again in the future!
