"A delightful experience. The hotel's guide, Voltaic, was engaging and professional. His explanations of the design philosophy and the sharing of thoughtful details were captivating, even for the children in our group. What's truly remarkable is how the world seems to quiet down the moment you turn from the bustling street into the hotel entrance. The hotel cleverly avoids the main road's noise, creating a peaceful sanctuary. At night, you drift off to sleep in this tranquility, waking up to birdsong and the scent of flowers in the morning, completely oblivious to the city's hustle and bustle. The hotel's beauty lies in its details. It doesn't have the opulent grandeur of traditional luxury hotels; at first glance, it might even seem a bit minimalist. Yet, once you settle in, you discover how the light subtly shifts everywhere. The focus isn't on accumulating symbols, but on allowing guests to find peace within the space. Voltaic's guided tour truly brought this spatial aesthetic to life, perfectly embodying the hotel's 'luxury is personal' philosophy. If you're looking to escape the everyday and immerse yourself in beauty, this is an excellent choice. A special thank you to Voltaic for their dedicated service. I hope they can collaborate with Comico in the future and support this 30-year-old national brand."

"Initially, I wasn't thrilled about staying here after seeing the gym. However, I heard the spa was good and it was close to a few restaurants we'd booked, so we decided to go for it. The river view was also quite decent. But seriously, is the service team outsourced or something? Everyone seemed so unenthusiastic (not sure why they're so aloof 🤷🏻‍♀️), and I even had to go downstairs myself to pick up food deliveries. 😅 Breakfast was okay; my partner said the Chinese options were better. They specifically praised the tea-marinated eggs and the beef in the beef noodles. The New York set allowed for scrambled eggs, which worked out well since we're pure protein eaters. 😅 The mini-bar items were generally on the pricier side. They delivered cake daily, and we even received luggage tags when we checked out. The gym… well, I'd say about 90% of guests don't use it, and the remaining 9% go to the pool for photos. I guess I'm the only one genuinely trying to burn fat. 🥲 The treadmills are ancient Technogym models, seriously vintage! Plus, the treadmills are placed way too close to the wall; I kept feeling like I was about to hit it during my runs, can I even say that? 🤐 And the gym was freezing cold, even adjusting the AC didn't help much. Congrats to me for setting a new personal best for a 10km fasted run in sub-zero conditions! 🥲 The green apples were quite tasty. Apart from that, the spa is definitely the most commendable! My partner and I went every day. 🥰 Both the facial and Chinese massage treatments were excellent!"

Capella Shanghai, Jian Ye Li is located in the cultural preservation zone of Xuhui District, in one of the city's largest shikumen cluster with 55 villas, a one Michelin Starred French restaurant, le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire, award-winning Auriga spa and The Gallery housing a collection of niche retail and dining options. The villas consist of one to three bedrooms, with an individual running air condition system, a private courtyard, living area, entertainment room, and rooftop balcony. The Capella Culturists offer bespoke services to tailor your itinerary for an insider's insight into Shanghai. le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire offers authentic French cuisine that are simple, honest and elegant. Open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant also offers an extensive wine list to complement your dining experience.Capella Shanghai, Jian Ye Li is attached to Capella Hotel Group. A personalized, unique and memorable experience crafted to cater to the most discerning of luxury travelers. Curated service and cultural hospitality combined with extraordinary design make Capella Hotels and Resorts the benchmark in their respective destinations. Amidst the stellar clusters that permeate the northern sky, the Auriga constellation stands out vividly amongst others –with the principal binary star “Capella” shining as one of the brightest in the firmament with first magnitude brilliance. This is the inspiration and impetus for the formation of one of the finest hotels and resorts on the planet.

"Feeling bored during the May Day holiday, I spontaneously decided to book a hotel and spend a day relaxing. Capella truly stands out among five-star hotels. Even though I grew up in a traditional Shikumen house, where my family of three squeezed into one room, none of them were as spacious as Capella's bathroom! The hygiene, service, and dining were all excellent. The room's fragrance was very elegant; as someone very sensitive to smells, I usually bring my own diffuser when staying at hotels, but Capella's scent was incredibly soothing and relaxing. I never take hotel amenities, but I couldn't resist asking the evening staff for an extra set – I absolutely adore the Frederic Malle scent. The afternoon tea service in the library seemed a bit understaffed, but there was a tall, bespectacled young woman whose awareness and service were spot-on, a definite plus. The in-room dining was a hit with the kids, very prompt, and the staff were extremely polite. Navigating the stairs can indeed be inconvenient; the section leading to the terrace is particularly steep, making it a hassle to go up and down for things. There was only one person at the front desk sometimes, so I occasionally had to wait. However, none of these minor points will stop me and my child from our 'date' – we'll definitely be back to stay and play for a day every holiday!"

"I visited Shanghai during the May Day holiday and on the last day, I finally chose to stay at the Amanyangyun Hotel, a place I'd always wanted to experience since my undergraduate days but never quite splurged on. Overall, the experience was fantastic. We arrived at 1 PM and immediately, a staff member came to assist with our luggage. Manager Zhou Xiaomeng then led us to a private booth in the lobby for check-in. She provided a very detailed introduction to the hotel's facilities and restaurants. Afterward, she drove us to our room in a golf cart and meticulously explained all the room's features, demonstrating great patience. The hotel also offers a rich array of activities. There was a 40-minute art exhibition tour in the owner's area of Amanyangyun Phase 1, which was very photogenic with vibrant colors. We also took a 60-minute traditional Chinese painting class; the teacher was very patient. We painted loquats, and they even framed our paintings afterward, which added a nice sense of ceremony. The hotel also provides free electric bicycles, perfect for exploring the nearby forest park, where you can spot black swans, grey ducks, and many rabbits. There are also two white peacocks in the hotel restaurant. The environment is truly exceptional. Breakfast was included even with the lowest-priced room type. I highly recommend the French toast; the strawberries and blueberries inside were delicious. The only minor drawback was that this dessert took a bit long to prepare, about ten minutes. In conclusion, I highly recommend everyone to experience Amanyangyun. After all, it's good enough for tennis legend Novak Djokovic!"

It's so true that Shanghainese people only get to be tourists in their own city when they're visiting from out of town! 😄 I have to rave about the Gold Room – every detail was just perfect! It's a shame I checked in late and missed dinner. I absolutely loved the breakfast at F9; it was much quieter than the first floor and the food quality was superior. The afternoon tea served with Narumi tableware was also a lovely, high-end touch. The swimming pool was quite small, and having three lifeguards watching just me swim was a little awkward. 😅 Many of the staff were Shanghainese, and hearing their familiar local dialect was so comforting! The parking garage, due to the historical nature of the building, had its inconveniences. Ultimately, the true highlights of the Peace Hotel are its architecture, the meticulous soft furnishings, and its rich historical heritage. Next time I'm home for a trip, I'll definitely be back to make up for that missed dinner!

Honestly, this stay far exceeded my expectations. The hotel's riverside view was delightful, and the artistic decor throughout was unique. The public areas were clean and tidy. Our room was meticulously cleaned, with brand-new, complete facilities, and the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a particularly quiet night's rest. Cici and Zora provided attentive follow-up throughout. Before arrival, they proactively contacted us about our itinerary and adjusted the room as needed. Upon check-in, they thoroughly explained the hotel's services. They handled luggage storage and extra toiletries efficiently and with polite, gentle service. With both great facilities and thoughtful service, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Shanghai.

I'd been looking forward to staying at the Kimpton Shanghai Qiantan for a while, and I finally got the perfect opportunity to experience it for a night. While the hotel isn't huge, its design aesthetic is by far the strongest I've encountered in any hotel, surpassing even the Kimptons in London and Suzhou. The design of all the public areas isn't just refined and beautiful; it's captivating, almost predatory. The guest rooms feature a sleek, black metallic finish. The minibar, TV screen, and desk are all electrically controlled and can be raised or lowered. The leather sofa has a metallic sheen, though it felt a bit short to lounge on. In the center of the room, there's a fireplace, with crystal lights mimicking dancing flames late at night. Even the toothbrush holders and cups in the bathroom are metal. The hotel lobby is strikingly high-ceilinged. Tastefully placed blankets on the black sofas, a predominantly black background with red accents, and sparkling handicrafts encased in glass create an enchanting and almost surreal atmosphere. On the fifth floor, the living room is dominated by a blood-red, lip-shaped sofa that commands attention, creating immense artistic tension with the surrounding marble coffee tables and leather sofas. The Western restaurant on the eighth floor gleams, and the bar opposite, despite lacking windows, is incredibly dazzling. Behind the bar, rows upon rows of bottles in the embedded, illuminated wine cabinet are absolutely stunning. The ninth floor boasts an infinity pool with a view of the West Bund. On the downside: The internet was unstable and slow. Also, on the night I checked in, it was the basketball finals, but the TV signal kept cutting in and out.

My stay at The Shanghai EDITION was absolutely perfect! The hotel's location is superb, within walking distance to Nanjing Road and The Bund. The overall decor is chic and minimalist, and the room offers a fantastic view. The Le Labo amenities, soft bedding, and meticulous cleanliness really show attention to detail. Check-in was smooth thanks to Winnie at the front desk, who was incredibly gentle and professional. She was very efficient, proactively told me about the hotel and breakfast times, patiently answered my questions about room types and parking, and even gave me tips on nearby attractions. Her service was attentive and thoughtful, without being overly formal, which made me feel very comfortable. The hotel facilities are excellent, the breakfast spread is extensive, and the rooftop bar offers breathtaking night views. The overall service standard is consistently high. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I'm in Shanghai, and a special thanks to Winnie for her thoughtful hospitality!

During the Dragon Boat Festival, I brought my family for a trip nearby. The Shimao Wonderland InterContinental, though I'd heard mixed reviews online, I decided to experience it for myself. After confirming our check-in time and our preference for a quiet room, Hanna from the front desk proactively added me on WeChat. She reminded me that because it was a holiday and there was an amusement park nearby, parking might be tight, advising me to inform her 30 minutes in advance so she could make arrangements. We checked in on Dragon Boat Festival noon, and I was surprised to see the lobby's seating area packed with people and a long queue at the front desk. However, thanks to Hanna's foresight, our room was already reserved, making the check-in process quick and efficient. Our room was arranged away from the elevator, and the soundproofing was remarkably good. We couldn't hear any plumbing from the adjacent rooms or the floors above/below, whether it was the shower or the toilet. This undisturbed experience is a rare find, whether in hotels built years ago or newly constructed ones, a truly effective soundproofing is hard to come by. There was a minor issue with the sink drainage during our stay, which was promptly resolved, showing their attentive service. However, I have to complain about the sink's design; it was a square basin, which easily splashed water, and water tended to accumulate near the faucet – not very practical. Our stay included a complimentary travel photoshoot with three free photos. The photographer was excellent at creating a lively atmosphere, and our family portrait turned out vibrant and natural, boosting our mood significantly! Online reviews for the Western restaurant were mediocre, but the Chinese restaurant, Cai Feng Lou, received many positive comments. I spontaneously decided to try it, worried about not getting a table, but Hanna immediately helped us book a table for that evening. The standout dish in the set meal was the diced wagyu beef – a true test of a chef's skill. Each piece was large, yet perfectly tender, flavorful, and didn't get stuck in your teeth. This mastery certainly justifies the numerous trophies and prestigious brand accolades at the entrance! At the restaurant entrance, there was also an introduction to the Shimao Quarry Hotel's background and construction history. Indeed, many aspects of its design were quite visionary, considering it took 12 years to build! The cliffside light show at 8:30 PM featured stunning opening audio effects, and the fountain design added a lot to the visual impact of the mythological story. The Chenshan Botanical Garden, included in our hotel package, was even more amazing. I felt like I could spend two days there, enjoying nature, the charm of the vast lawn, the beauty of the dawn redwood forest, and the tranquility of the camphor forest. Overall, it was a good experience, but the price was just too unfriendly. Even without it being a major holiday, it was so expensive. Given the current economic climate, a more affordable price would be needed to maintain sustained market demand.

Both the hotel itself and the guests staying there collectively create an atmosphere that made me feel it was truly great value for money. This is a hotel with genuinely sincere service and a superb location, well worth experiencing. I absolutely loved it.

Amenities: Absolutely beautiful and high-quality, couldn't stop taking photos! Loved the white marble paired with the green room aesthetic. The view outside was Yu Garden, no concrete jungle feeling, very much a vacation vibe. Cleanliness: Very clean. Service: Excellent, exceeded expectations, very professional. Butlers Amber and Frieda provided outstanding service, very responsive and thoughtful. Ambiance: Really enjoyed the rooftop bar. There was a DJ at night, creating a fantastic atmosphere. 24-hour beverage service: This was exceptionally good. I was so busy with activities that I forgot to order, and later that evening, the butler brought drinks to my room. So happy! 🥳 Breakfast was great, and the restaurant was absolutely beautiful 🤩. The lobby was also stunning. Overall, it's small yet beautiful, exquisite, and cozy. Perhaps it's because the original property was so well-built? In summary, this stay was incredibly satisfying. It's a peaceful retreat in a bustling area, with fantastic surroundings perfect for exploring food, shopping, riverside walks, and even a city walk. Simply versatile.

Nestled discreetly amidst the bustling streets of Nanjing West Road, this hotel is right next to HKRI Taikoo Hui, offering incredibly convenient access to transport and shopping. The overall design perfectly blends Eastern Zen aesthetics with modern luxury. The lobby's bamboo garden creates a wonderfully atmospheric setting, and the guest rooms feature exquisite soft furnishings. The bedding is soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing is exceptional, allowing you to enjoy a serene and pleasant escape in the heart of a vibrant city. My stay was exceptionally comfortable, and I'd like to extend a special thanks to the two front desk staff, Emma and Fiona, as well as concierge Lucas. Emma and Fiona handled the check-in process efficiently and smoothly. They were gentle and approachable, meticulously explaining the room amenities, breakfast times, and hotel benefits. Concierge Lucas was professional and thoughtful, assisting with car arrangements. I look forward to returning next time!
