Superior location. The hotel has good facilities. In front of the gate is the river. It's safe, too. I do a lot of running in the morning. Next to it is a new shopping mall. Later, I found that there are many noodles to eat. You can also see the scenery outside. Very good.

Lovely country house hotel on the southern edge of Aberdeen with easy access to city. Welcoming hotel with a very traditional feel in the main building. Bedrooms are modern and our Standard room was well equipped with a large double bed and plenty of tea coffee etc. The hotel is dog friendly for a small charge. We had lovely cooked breakfasts and continental also available. We ate breakfast in the drawing room, as dogs understandably not allowed in main restaurant. We only ate in the bar area one evening which was cosy and fast service. Friendly staff and nice touch of a Birthday platter delivered to room in recognition of a significant Birthday being celebrated.

We had the most wonderful holistic facial treatment and bank massage. Nikki and Leanne are just lovely and very very good at what they do. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome, relaxed and in safe hands! One of the best Spa Treatments we have ever had. Thank you Nikki and Leanne! Note: It is a small spa with treatment rooms and relaxation rooms however there isn’t a pool, sauna, hot tub etc. We were aware of this before we got there so not a problem for us but just putting this here for info for others because we found it hard to find this information on the website.
The Aberdeen Altens Hotel

On arriving at reception to check in on Saturday, the reception staff found that I had booked the room for previous night [Friday] and this had in turn been documented as a No Show. The staff were helpful in offering an alternative room- there were no Stanard King Rooms left for the Saturday Night, only the Apartment Suites. We thanked them and left, stating we would try and find something else. Naturally, I became upset on leaving after making such a mistake- When outside heading back to the car, the Booking Manager (i think his name was Barry) approached us and said he would have a look and see if he could help. He was able to move our booking from the Friday to the Saturday for no extra cost, and also upgraded us to the Apartment Suite free of charge. We were so grateful and appreciative for his help and he saved our weekend so we could continue to celebrate my Birthday as we had planned. The room was spacious and comfortable with a kitchenette, bathroom with over bath shower, king size bed and a fridge amongst the facilities available. 5 stars all round
Macdonald Norwood Hall Hotel

Recently stayed overnight for a wedding we were attending at the hotel. Staff were very attentive and welcoming. We received a free upgrade and the rooms were spotless. Breakfast the following morning was more than adequate with the option of a full scottish along with an array of food for a continental breakfast. I would have no hesitation staying at Norwood Hall again

While the room is the same style as most Premier Inns, the quality was poor and tired. The bathroom fan runs all night on low and never goes off. The smoke detector flashes a white light every minute or so and is bright enough to light up the bed once your eyes are accustomed to the dark. The floorboards above are extremely squeaky and when two massive lumps are walking around from 10pm until 2am it gets on your nerves. And when they eventually lumber into bed they have to get up 3 - 4 times a night and insist on flushing the toilet each time. Considering there is no sound insulation between floors it sounds like Niagra just entered the room ... then of course the waddle to the bed on squeaky floors again ... maybe just drop the phone for the tenth time too, just for good measure! The food in the attached pub / restaurant is pretty good and service was excellent. Such a shame the attached hotel needs a load of money spent on it. And saying Wi-Fi is free and then demanding that you give a bunch of info for marketing is a bit of a joke. Wi-Fi isn't free if you need to give up so much info. Email address and name fine, but this was taking the pi ....
