We stayed here for a two night break, lured in by the stylized photographs. The hotel itself was built in 1926, and I think the rooms were last refurbished around 1976 the furniture is old and dated. The med was comfortable, but we found some serious stains on the bedding. The location is excellent for trams and access to Rundle St Mall, however being so close to Hi key Street means that there are council street sweeper trucks passing around 430am ever morning. Also, the lane way that has access to the hotel had a few undesirable characters camping in the doorway of the hotel, and having a little drink and argument to themselves quite late. The cold water tap in the bathroom didn’t work. We alerted the hotel reception who told us there was someone booked to come and fix it whilst we were out. When we returned it had not been fixed. We told the receptionist that it hasn’t been fixed so if the plumber had billed them, then he hadn’t done his job. Finally, the hotel policy has a clause for “night workers” who are to “escort their guests out of the building and ensure the security fort is closed” I wasn’t quite sure what that meant at first, but it didn’t take long for the penny to drop. Several times during the night there was a rhythmic banging of the headboard in the adjacent room ….. business must have been good! Overall, I guess you get what you pay for. We lamented over the additional $20 a night extra we could have spent to have a much nicer hotel, just an extra block away from being smack bang in the middle of the city.

You have to make your own breakfast. There is a kitchen, which is very convenient. One of the rooms has a bed in the closet, which can be taken out for an extra bed. Even the sofa in the living room sleeps comfortably, and there is free parking.

Great and convenient location. Close to 7 x 24 convenience store for daily stuff and simple meal. Also close to the ******************. Someone may like it. Some beggars and drunk people could be found near the hotel. Won't harm you. Just be careful.

I was looking for a touch of special to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. So I booked a room with a river view because I thought that would be nice to wake up to. Well, when we arrived, we had been upgraded to a 'suite'! We were blown away at this room, wall to ceiling views, dining room, bath, balcony. 'Pretty woman' eat your heart out. We didn't dine there as it was a Sunday night and not all of them were open but the facilities looked good. Staff were very professional and friendly at check in and check out. Very little surprises me these days. but EOS did. Thank you very much for exceeding our expectations and giving us an experience we will cherish forever.

The checkin was a bit slow, but maybe the people in front of us all had issues - it seems that way because our checkin was quick. The rooms were fantastic. Spacious, comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was particularly big. Good bed. Wifi worked well. Good toiletries. Breakfast was excellent, although the coffee machine could do with a bit of a lift. The staff were moving around between the kitchen and front counter so it's a bit hard to nail them down to make fresh eggs. Location is great. Easy to reach from the airport by bus (or taxi). Also a short walk to the train station. Really impossible to fault.

The start was not bad, nice greeting at arrival and help with the baggage. The allocated room was OK, though badly cleaned. The evening after we came back after dinner, we got the noisy climate in the room. We informed the reception but it was too late to do something. The next morning the technician passed and confirmed the high air volume, but it was technically related. Then we searched a new room with a staff member of the reception. After several trials we found one, so well as well. I would be at 4/5 points. Breakfast is very simple and of low quality, I would have paid nothing extra for this. So a point deduction and I would give the hotel 3 points. Last day, after lying up, I noticed a high-soiled mattress protection, typically German I wanted to turn it back and I saw, unfortunately, the mattress. The mattress was very dirty, just awful. I didn't look further, but I'm sure she was completely dirty. That's not possible for a 5Sternehaus with corresponding prices. So the 1 point, I would prefer to give 0.
