The environment is very good, the traffic is very convenient, that is, there is no place to eat at night, the hotel bar is closed at 9 o'clock. There is no place to drink at night. There is a laundry on the second floor of the hotel, which is very, very convenient and easy to use. After washing clothes and drying, you don't have to dry them anymore. 1.25 US dollar wash one cylinder, 1.25 US dollar drying.

I believe that we were shown extra attention during the recent stay in the Story City, Iowa Comfort Inn. We may have been the only ones there but there were quite a few of us and nobody shushed us in the halls or in the pool. We 're a close family and having so many of us there for this occasion meant a whole lot. I might add that we've gathered in Story City the day after Thanksgiving for a family dinner many times so we may be guests again. One special kindness was locating my daughter's thermal cup that means a whole lot to her. She was just sick to think that it may have disappeared into oblivion but upon returning to the hotel after the funeral service, she was very relieved that it had been found. The room was fine and being 82 years old, I was thankful to stay on the ground floor. We all had a nice breakfast. Thank you for everything, Story City!,

Outstanding
GGuest UserI stayed here on October 27, 2019 with my son when we went to Ames for a tour of Iowa State. Location was close to campus and they advertised wonderful homemade breakfast. I even spoke to the manager ahead of time to make sure they could meet my son's dietary restrictions. When we went down for breakfast in the morning, no one from the hotel was there. The other guests and I waited for a while, tried calling the hotel number, but there was no answer. (We actually heard it ringing at the front reception area, but there was no staff in the building). While we were on the university tour, I received a voicemail message (which I still have) from Noah, the manager who apologized and stated that they were offering each of us 50% off on our next two stays. He stated that he would keep a list of our names and I should call, rather than book online, and he would be sure to give the discount. Well, my son decided not to enroll at Iowa State, so we had no reason to return to Ames. I thought about calling to request some money back, instead of the discount that I was not likely to ever use, but I thought that would be a hardship for a small business, and I didn't want to be ”that person,” so I let it go. I guess it doesn't pay to be nice. Well, now that my daughter is considering Iowa State, I called to reserve a room with my discount. They refuse to honor it or to offer any sort of discount at all. First, she said it was because Noah is not there anymore and they cannot find the list (but she was able to verify my prior stay). I offered to play the voice mail message that I still have. Then, the reason she gave is that she never would have resolved it that way. This leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. Too bad for them - we are going down on a Sunday night and the place will likely be mostly empty. If my daughter does end up going to Iowa State, we'll certainly never stay here.
GGuest UserWhen we arrived, there was no one at the front desk for quite awhile. Long enough that we shouted out for someone. My room was missing the closet door and had a light bulb out above the sink. The air conditioner quit working in the middle of the night. The next day we went down to breakfast at 7:00 a.m. because we had a conference to attend by 8:00 a.m. The man taking our order told us the cook was detained. I explained that we had a deadline and if we couldn't get breakfast before that time, we would go elsewhere. He assured us the cook would be there soon and gave us a cold stale pastry. We had a cup of coffee and waited. After we couldn't wait any longer for breakfast we left. I reported the light bulb out and the A/C not working to the front desk before leaving. When we arrived back to the room, the A/C appeared to be working, but the light bulb was still out. In the middle of the night the A/C quit working again. Some of the staff were doing their jobs. Others were not. I'm a City Clerk and we have a conference in Ames every July. We will not be back.
GGuest UserRoom seemed fine initially. Small but adequate since all we needed was a nights sleep. Didn't even check in til almost 11pm. But then I tried to get into the bathroom and it was stuck. Had to use alot of force to open/close and the door jammed at the bottom and it started falling apart. Then, went to shower and had no shmp/cond or soap so I had to run down myself to get it. But the kicker was the balled up wad of hair, that was NOT ours, in the top corner of the shower. From there, it just makes you question everything about the place, regardless of how friendly the staff was. Told the guy at check out and all he said was OK. Thank you. With no apology or anything. Needless to say, corporate will be called.
