The fishing village of Volendam itself is not large and the hotel is conveniently located near the lake and the main street. There is a problem. If you arrive by car, there is a railing to enter the fishing village of Volendam, which is 1-2 kilometers from the hotel. What password is required to enter the pole, but there are no instructions at the entrance and I don't know how to enter the fishing village. The business of the fishing village is quiet and there are many fish restaurants. If you sit in a restaurant overlooking the lake, the surroundings are good, the food is quite good, and the service staff is nice.

I loved this place, the beds are soo cozy! The location is super close to Amsterdam you’re there in 20 min and just one bus. Flor out host is sooo kind and helped us in every doubt we had, gave us coffee and water. 100% recommended!

Just back home after a 3 night stay at this hotel. I stayed on my own as I booked late and could not find a hotel in central Amsterdam for the Koningsdag weekend. Room was lovely and had everything I needed ( I enjoyed the coffee machine) Friendly and helpful staff and a nice continental breakfast. Great views across the river from the terrace. Nice place to stay if you are unable to find suitable accommodation in Amsterdam as the train station is very close ( 10 min walk), and its only 15 mins travel time to Amsterdam Centraal station, train runs until late ( last one back from Amsterdam is approximately 1am) so easy to have a good evening in the city. Only negative for me was the early closing of the bar/restaurant as it would have been nice to get a drink in the evenings past 8 pm!

Lovely looking boutique hotel in the center of Hoorn decorated with an eye for details. This included ear plugs on our bedside table, which you definitely need when staying in a room located at the square the Roode Steen. On Friday evening we could clearly hear the sound of people in and around the hotel and restaurant in our room (second floor, room 10). This was annoying but we managed to fall asleep with it. On Saturday evening all the noise of night live including yelling drunk people and the music from bars could be heard in the room till after 2 AM, making falling asleep earlier impossible. Needless to say that waking up on Sunday because the phone alarm in the room next door went off at 8.30 AM didn’t improve our impression of this hotel. So if you do choose to stay here, make sure not to sleep in room 10 or another room located directly at the Roode Steen. To end on a positive note, the breakfast was great.

Short journey from Schipol Airport, less than 30 minutes. The hotel is perfectly suited for the AK Alkmaar Football Stadium which is a ten minute walk away. It is 25 minutes walk into the fabulous town of Alkmaar. The hotel has a good onsite Sushi restaurant. The staff are great. The hotel is safe and clean. But it is limited. Breakfast is a basic offering, good variety but quality average. Rooms are ok, functional but again just. The hotel reception doubles up as a bar. Not ideal. So for me it’s a good base for exploring Alkmaar but it is a no frills hotel. If you want a bit more, you need to stay elsewhere.

We took a sate, and asked for a full red wine. The service advised a certain wine we agreed with. When we then got the bill, the wine was €8.00 per glass!!!!!! We find it obviously ridiculous and incredibly unfriendly for the customer that the service advises a wine but not mentioning that the wine is €8.00 per glass. We find this rather overdrived by a satin and I think that a cheaper wine would have been good too. In addition, for a €8.00 wine, I think that the bottle should have been given to the table in the glass and tested. This is now the 2nd bad experience (the first time was with a cup of coffee for which it was later found to be paid expensive, also unannounced) Be open and fair to the customer and let them decide what they want to spend their money so they don't get a bill for something they wouldn't agree with!!!
