THE 1O1 Bali Fontana Seminyak

Legian Bali|0.08km from Holycow! STEAKHOUSE by Chef Afit
In my opinion the 101 Fontana is best suited to the seminar/conference/corporate market as opposed to the vacationer/holiday traveller. By this I mean the best Hotel stays are the ones where you say to yourself, ” I could see myself living here” or at least, returning. Somehow, although a Hotel, it has a homey feel about it. There is no homey feel about the 101 and I will not be returning. The rooms are clean and functional, not welcoming. As with most Bali Hotels staff greet you ( using your name if they know it ) with a smile, and here special mention must be made of Mr Radittya. The breakfast; OMG what a shambles!! 1) I wanted toast. There was no toasting machine. It was broken. So management, rather than source a replacement just shrugged their shoulders? If the toasting machine breaks, get another one. If no commercial is available, get a couple of domestic 4 slice toasters. IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! 2) Tea and coffee station. Cups ✓ saucers ✓ teaspoons × I had to ask for a teaspoon. The second time I watched where the staff got the teaspoon from and on future occasions went and got the teaspoon from the drawer. Put the teaspoons by the tea and coffee station. IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. 3) Although there was a variety of hot meals ( when the staff remembered to light the warmers )many were Asian meals with the Asian name displayed which meant I didn't know what they were. If you have international guests, write the name of the meal in the local language and English. IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. 4) In the napkins of the table settings were a fork and tablespoon, no knife ( I guess it didn't matter because I had no toast to butter ) It is a breakfast service, you need a knife to butter your toast and cut your ( cold ) sausages and eggs ( see 5 ). IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. 5) They have a staff member to cook eggs to order. No-one informed me. There were no signs. Another guest told me about it. If you are going to cook eggs to order in a large breakfast room, a) write the guests order down with a number b) give the corresponding number to the guest. c) when the eggs are ready give them to a staff member to take to the guests table and remove the number. IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. For a relaxing holiday avoid the 101 Fontana is my opinion.

The small villa has two floors. The room is clean and tidy with complete facilities. I stayed here for 3 nights and it was very comfortable. The kids love the swimming pool and soak in it whenever they have free time in the evening. The hotel occupies a small area, with only 8-9 independent small villas, which are small but sophisticated. The waiters have a very good attitude and will try their best to help and satisfy many requests. The hotel is not on the main street and the surrounding area is very quiet. Overall very satisfied.

The location is good for the price, but it seems too humid because it is not ventilated. I think the size and location are good except for the humidity. It is a good place for travelers who want humidity

Lovely place to stay for Honeymoon couple. Service was great. They made thoughtful effort to make our stay special. We were there for our third anniversary celebration. They decorated the bed with flowers. The room housekeeping was perfect. On our first night, we were out the whole day and it was a pleasant surprise to see a flower petaled note ”Good Night” on the bed. The common tropical mosquito/insect issue was mitigated by them spraying insect repellant in the room. Contrary to some negative reviews here about the breakfast, we thought the breakfast was spectacular. Four out of five stars. One less star because the tea and coffee were mediocre. Perhaps they have done something to improve on the meal offerings. We had a tiny issue with the stopper in the outdoor bathtub but was quickly fixed by them. The bluetooth speaker/clock wasn't working. The induction cooker wasn't working. But these didn't bother us so it's okay. Oh, love the fact that they have google/android tv so we could watch netflix, disney+.

Good Location. You will find a lot of restaurants around the hotel including a food center offering local food. Generally, the room is clean, bed sheet is clean and no spot, however if in the corner area of the window and bath, is not really cleaned well and this for sure can be avoided with careful inspection by the housekeeping. It seems that the hotel need a bit of make up and retouch and more attention on the maintenance and cleanliness. Breakfast was very simple, but its quite good for a budget hotel, however if you need more, you could go to Indomart which have a good coffee at their Point Cafe.
