Miyako Hotel Hakata

9.5/10

It was a typical Japanese city centre hotel… small and comfortable, but I am not sure why they call themselves a five star hotel because it lacked a certain finesse. The roof top pool was ok, the room was small and the breakfast was average… it was ok, but I would say look for another hotel for this kind of money, I am sure you can get a better option.

Highly recommend this hotel in Fukuoka! • It's a brand new hotel (built in 2025). • Super convenient location right above the subway, and the attached mall is excellent. • The staff are incredibly friendly, and I was very impressed with the complimentary room service (all fridge drinks and alcohol are free) and free lounge access. • The room was clean, and I especially liked that it had hardwood floors instead of carpet, making it feel very fresh. • The windows open, which is great for ventilation. • You can get high-floor city views, and even a distant view of the sea and mountains. • The 12 PM checkout time gives you a bit more flexibility.

The hotel's location is pretty good – right above a subway station and very close to the Tenjin shopping district. However, I didn't find it to be good value for money. Firstly, the renovation smell was quite strong, which was a concern for me as a pregnant woman. Secondly, the room layout was a bit odd; while the size was decent, it was laid out longitudinally. I noticed a lot of ********* and Hong Kong guests, so maybe the hotel has strong marketing in those regions?

I enjoyed my stay here as a female solo traveler. The bed and room lighting are adjustable, so even if you like staying up late with the lights on, you don't have to worry about disturbing others because the bed area is covered by a privacy blind. It's very comfortable to have a queen-size bed in a capsule hotel compared to many others. There's no need to climb stairs, and there is plenty of space in the room to store your belongings. You can also leave large luggage outside your room. I also managed to do some night sightseeing around Tenjin and Nakatsu. The night views were beautiful. If there’s a chance I will definitely come back here again.

The rooms may be a little small but all the essentials are available to make your sleep and rest a pleasant one. The Lyf Tenjin Fukuoka is a lively and convenient hotel to stay. The reception is located at the 3rd level. There is a common kitchen and fridge area shared by all hotel guests at the 3rd level so you do not get a fridge in your room. You can find the laundry services at the same level too. The space optimisation is pretty amazing for each room with modern artwork and designs. We had 2 nights of good rest in this hotel. My only gripe is the lack of multiple entry parking offered by the hotel so we had to park and the next building (which is also a hotel cum residence) called Tenjin Place and it can cost quite a bit just for parking your rental car overnight. We paid as high as 2,100 yen for one of the nights. Also, because we do not speak or understand Japanese, took us a while to understand the parking payment concept and logic. If only the hotel could have a tie-up with a carpark management to let guests have free parking or multiple-entry daily parking pass for a flat fee. That would have made Lyf Tenjin as much more friendlier place for guests who drive. Would love to return to stay at this hotel again if the parking issue can be resolved. Till then, thanks for the experience nonetheless.

Good: Nice and spacious room, free parking good for us to drive around, powerful shower head which served strong stream and stable temperature for nice shower, big beds, convenient shops, food and big AEON store nearby with driving distance 5 mins, nice night lounge with free flow crafted beer, popcorn, and bbq marshmallow, my daughter requested to go every night But if you’re not coming with a car, it’s sorta inconvenient

Hotel is located on streets with many famous eateries and shops amongst local and foreign tourists. Tenjin Minami station on Nanakuma Line is 5-6 mins away on foot. Travelled in 3 pax and coincidentally on the weekend where there was a bunch concert and live shows happening in the city so hotel rate was extra expensive (normal weekend is alr very expensive).. Found this hotel within our budget and can fit 3 pax. Sofa bed was kinda comfortable but not the pillow. More used to firmer latex ones while the one they provided is either polyester or microfiber filled so it was very very very soft! Room was tight when the 3 of us opened our luggage. Shower has good water pressure. There’s also public bath on site. They provide in room water purifier machine too.

This hotel is small but perfectly formed, with an excellent location that's super close to popular spots like Ichiran Ramen, Tenjin, and the Yatai (food stalls) – all within a 10-minute walk. The self check-in and check-out process was very convenient. Plus, there's a bar where you can grab drinks and snacks anytime, which saved us a lot on beverage costs. The only minor drawback was that some corners of the room had a bit of dust, so that could be improved!

When I reached the hotel, I was stunned because the lobby was crowded with people enjoying a beer night or social gathering, which is definitely not my kind of activity as an introvert 😮💨. It was difficult to reach the front desk because I had to squeeze through the crowd to get in and out. I wish the hotel had separate entrances with clearer signage, such as a ”party area” and a ”check-in area,” which would be much more helpful. Surprisingly, the lounge area on the 3rd floor was quiet and comfortable, and both the bathroom and bed were clean. I chose this place because I wanted to visit Nakatsukasa Magotaro Inari Shrine (also known as the Cyber Shrine) at night. It's about a 15-minute walk from the hotel, but walking there alone can be a little scary because the road has limited lighting, and visiting a shrine at night always gives off a spooky vibe. I went there at around 9:30 PM. Since it’s not nearby the happening places like Tenjin or Hakata, there’s is no shop opening nearby in the night (except the convenience store), but if you are visiting the Ohori Park I think it’s just about 5 minutes walking.
