A beautiful building in a beautiful setting, the gardens are tidy and well maintained, I imagine it to be stunning in the summer when in full bloom. Hazel and Ian were fabulous hosts, they couldn't do enough for us. The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculately cleaned, fridge with bottled water and fresh fruit was a nice touch and a tea tray full with a good selection of hot drinks, the bathroom was well stocked with any toiletries you could possibly need. Breakfast choices were great, the full English was delicious with local produce used, presentation of all dishes was spot on. We would highly recommend this hidden gem and we would definitely return.

The only thing to complain is the waitress in the restaurant. She’s so arrogant, cold. She seems the only one to take orders at dinner and breakfast time . It’s very hard to put up with her. I only left 2 pound tip. That’s only for the courtesy. she doesn’t deserve the tip at all! We planned to stay in the same hotel on the way back from Scotland, but hesitate because of her bad service as it’s hard to avoid . It’s inconvenient to have meals outside the hotel. .., Plus the salad served with old whole leaves !!! Outstanding, I had a superb stay ,the George is unique Whilst, having a timeless aspect ,magnificent historic building it has modern features, and aspects,that make it very comfortable. Visited the Station Hotel for dinner last night following a chance conversation with the Manageress in the local park. Absolutely blown away - very warm welcome, looked after very well by Jill and the food was absolutely amazing. Portions were so big there was definitely no room for dessert. Absolutely superb value for money and a good atmosphere. A must visit if you are in the area - you will definitely not be disappointed.

Excellent staff.. had a evening meal food was very tasty ... room was very nicely decorated with a comfy bed .. had a cooked breakfast then got talking to the owners before we left ... couldn't do enough for us
