Friendly staff, clean room, lovely food (discounted if your staying there). Will be pleased to stay there again.
Restaurant not open on Monday's, However, center is only half a mile away (10 min walk) - I recommend El Picante Mex Grill for that night.

This hotel is pretty good in Bedford, with a history of more than 100 years. The owner is very welcoming and the breakfast is quite rich. It is about ten minutes' walk from the downtown area, which is quite convenient.

We stayed here for three nights and had an okay stay. In summary, the staff were very pleasant but the whole hotel could do with a major overhaul and the bedroom was most definitely not luxurious. Given the price point and glossy online adverts, it just did not the meet expectations created by their website. On the surface the hotel looked quite plush with a black and purple colour scheme throughout. But, in the bedroom, the black painted crocodile skin design wallpaper, really weird leatherette tiles on the ceiling and black flat-pack furniture made it feel like a cheap set from a Hugh Hefner photoshoot in the early 90s. Best points: 1. Very good communication prior to arrival and friendly check-in staff (Yasmin). 2. Great air conditioning inside the room. 3. Free off street parking (but spaces are limited). 4. Good location 20 minutes’ walk from the river/bustling area of town. 5. The hotel had no double rooms left when we booked (only a twin) so, at our request, the hotel zip-locked the two twin beds together (with a topper) so we had a nice large king-size bed to share. 6. The room had a fridge which was a welcome sight in the middle of high summer. However, we did have to switch it off at night as it made an irritating clicking sound which kept us awake. Bad points: 1. The bed was comfortable, although unlike the photos on the website, there was no headboard (room 6). I’m assuming this was because the twin beds had been zip-locked together and the headboards couldn’t be? But the pillows were wafer thin and had no pillow protectors (just thin badly fitting pillow cases); definitely nothing like the plush and plumped-up luxurious looking ones in the photos on the website. Reception did provide two additional thin pillows on request, but the hard thin pillows and lack of a headboard made the room feel a bit down market. 2. The en-suite was the tiniest shower room I have ever used – imagine a converted cupboard. The 80cm x 80cm shower cubicle was akin to taking a shower in a phone booth. It was impossible for anyone bigger than a small child to bend down to wash their legs or feet. This was such a shame as there was space for a wider fitment inside the room, but it felt as if the hotel had just skimped on the size and opted for the cheapest (smallest) option available. 3. The showerhead holder on the rail was broken, so the showerhead kept slipping down to the bottom of the rail – poor maintenance. 4. The shower cubicle sealant was discoloured and had started to go mouldy, so could do with replacing. 5. The top of the wardrobe was coated in thick dust. 6. There was particularly poor sound insulation between rooms; you could hear other guests’ conversations/TVs quite clearly. 7. Water from an upstairs bathroom flowed down inside a boxed-in soil pipe that was located in the corner of our bedroom, just two feet from our bed. As the guests above us showered or used the toilet in the middle of the night, the gushing water was quite an intrusive sou

So, the room is was okay but no where to plug phones in near the bed . The fridge was a plus point . TV was tiny but it came away from the wall so I could plug my firestick into it . All of the random wires outside of the window and the power cut was rather annoying . And now to get to the elephant in the room !! The breakfast !! I have never had defrosted pastries on a plate with a scoop of baked beans !! Why why why ? Though one good thing the Thai food in the evening meal was good

Negative: First thing that hits you is the parking and the lack of. Roads all around have parking restrictions so if you don't get a space....... You can park in front of other cars but leave your keys at reception for them to move it if needed which I wasn't prepared to do having a 2 week old car. Luckily I was visiting family so got a visitor permit for parking on the road. The other thing that hits you is the smell. Air fresheners everywhere. Very overpowering. Staff were friendly and my room, although small was adequate, with tea and coffee making facilities. One bonus was air conditioning! Overall, wouldn't stay again

Hotel which was walkable into centre of Bedford (15-20 walk), Parking spaces at front, limited. Nice reception at desk, bed was comfortable, but desk would have been difficult to sit at. Ensuite shower was up a step and toilet was right behind the door (had to shut the door to use the toliet).

This is going to be my regular place to stay while in Bedford. A quirky looking hotel with lovely friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and clean rooms, with everything you need. My TV wasn't working in my room, so within 10 minutes of reporting, I was offered another room with working TV. Parking is free. Great little shower en suite, always a bonus. I couldn't fault the place.

I've had the opportunity to visit Bedford on a number of occasions over the last 2 years. On each occasion I have stayed at The Verve , usually for 2 or 3-nights at a time. On every visit I have been met by friendly professional staff who are very attentive. Rooms and beds have been very comfortable, clean and quiet. I also always take the chance to eat from their Thai menu, which I find to be delicious. I will continue to stay at The Verve during future visits to Bedford as its an easy distance from the railway station and the town centre.

Was woken in the middle of the night to the sound of dripping coming from the bathroom. I hastily got up to check if I had left the tap on but quickly realised it was much worse. I had walked into the bathroom and stepped into soiled contaminated waste overflowing from the toilet bowl. The smell was absolutely revolting and was making myself and my partner gag. It was overflowing from the bathroom straight onto the bedroom carpet. The waste stack was full and someone in an adjacent room or above us had managed to send the contents of the stack back into our room. Myself and my partner quickly grabbed our belongings and headed to reception and asked if we could move room and explained the situation. The staff were very understanding and offered us a single room as their were no double rooms available. We accepted but obviously had a very uncomfortable sleep sharing a single bed. After our stay we have contacted the hotel multiple times expecting some form of refund or compensation however we have been completely ignored.

Check in was quick and friendly. Lots of air fresheners in the lobby and nice decor in the lobby. Adequate parking. Bed was very comfortable - had a mattress topper. Big window, nice sized room. TV and wifi included. However, the bathroom was incredibly small. If you were a larger person you may not be able to sit on the toilet seat as it was wedged so tightly between the wall and the bath with an unmovable shower screen, it really is a tight squeeze. We chose not to have breakfast at the hotel as it was too expensive.
