The hotel is really great if you’re traveling to Beijing during fall or winter. The heating system in rooms is perfect for cooler seasons. I wouldn’t call it a 5 star hotel but it’s worth the price. It’s about 20 minutes by car/ 50 minutes by subway away from the Palace Museum. Will definitely book again.

Everything looks magic and brings us in an old Chinese movie around here. The simple and probably old renovation of the hotel respects this particularity, offering a correct comfort. The isolation is not optimum but I would not expect more from any other place in the town. We asked for the hotel restaurants and they gave us a coupon for one out (we’ve been there, it was really nice). The choice of breakfast (between western and Chinese) is great. Pickup service is perfect, very fast and convenient!!! The staff, especially Bae, is very nice and helpful. Our train was cancelled and they immediately took care of us, giving a new room (a suite, very beautiful and comfortable).

This hotel is located in the heart of the hutongs - not a great thing on national holidays or busy weekends but very pleasant the rest of the time. You cannot get a taxi to the door so don’t book this if you have a lot of luggage. The hotel is collocated with a Starbucks which we loved. Very close to sights like forbidden city, Tiananmen Square etc. We were given complimentary breakfasts by the staff, the first morning was fried bread and baozi, the second morning they rocked up with McDonalds and Starbucks - very kind! Our room had an excellent terrace which we loved to sit on. The room amenities were a bit suspicious, and included a box full of purchasable sextoys on the bedside. All in all we had a comfortable stay.

If you don’t mind to walk half a mile from metro station the location is good. It’s near a ancient culture alley with lots of stores. It’s easy to go to popular tourism destinations such as Tiananmen square, forbidden city. Be aware it’s hard for taxi to reach the front door of the hotel since it’s tucked in a narrow alley.

Their rooms are divided into the first floor and the semi-underground patio. For example, the Qingying room I booked is in the semi-underground and has basically no sunlight. The Chanjuan room is on the first floor and can have very warm sunlight. The difference between upstairs and downstairs is seven degrees. It’s 24 degrees upstairs and 18 degrees downstairs. The other room is on the first floor. In the middle of the night, I felt someone prying on the door and moving the window. It scared the baby so much that he dared not sleep. Location: The hotel is in the middle of Hutong community, it is great for getting a glimpse of life in Hutong. Once you make your way out of the Hutong, it is close to a variety of restaurants.
