The hotel is really great if you’re traveling to Beijing during fall or winter. The heating system in rooms is perfect for cooler seasons. I wouldn’t call it a 5 star hotel but it’s worth the price. It’s about 20 minutes by car/ 50 minutes by subway away from the Palace Museum. Will definitely book again.

Everything looks magic and brings us in an old Chinese movie around here. The simple and probably old renovation of the hotel respects this particularity, offering a correct comfort. The isolation is not optimum but I would not expect more from any other place in the town. We asked for the hotel restaurants and they gave us a coupon for one out (we’ve been there, it was really nice). The choice of breakfast (between western and Chinese) is great. Pickup service is perfect, very fast and convenient!!! The staff, especially Bae, is very nice and helpful. Our train was cancelled and they immediately took care of us, giving a new room (a suite, very beautiful and comfortable).

This hotel is very clean and well Managed. I had no issues from beginning to end. The only thing was room service did not bring cutlery with my meal. But everything els was 1000%. Great Hotel! Will certainly be back. The only complaint I have is with the details of my package. This was very misleading and not accurate at all. This hotel is located in the heart of the hutongs - not a great thing on national holidays or busy weekends but very pleasant the rest of the time. You cannot get a taxi to the door so don’t book this if you have a lot of luggage. The hotel is collocated with a Starbucks which we loved. Very close to sights like forbidden city, Tiananmen Square etc. We were given complimentary breakfasts by the staff, the first morning was fried bread and baozi, the second morning they rocked up with McDonalds and Starbucks - very kind! Our room had an excellent terrace which we loved to sit on. The room amenities were a bit suspicious, and included a box full of purchasable sextoys on the bedside. All in all we had a comfortable stay.

I don’t know why Ctrip defines it as an affordable luxury hotel. It’s just an inn. The location is amazing. It’s in Nanluoguxiang and very close to the subway station. My best friend and I have two kids. There are two double rooms and one is upstairs. The door cannot be locked. The window outside is the roof of the house next to it. The other room is on the first floor. In the middle of the night, I felt someone prying on the door and moving the window. It scared the baby so much that he dared not sleep. I called the innkeeper on duty and asked him to come and take a look. It took more than ten minutes to wait in such a small place. The next day I asked other staff and they said that Wong Tai Sin would wander around at night. Well... it's okay to just sleep for the location.

Their rooms are divided into the first floor and the semi-underground patio. For example, the Qingying room I booked is in the semi-underground and has basically no sunlight. The Chanjuan room is on the first floor and can have very warm sunlight. The difference between upstairs and downstairs is seven degrees. It’s 24 degrees upstairs and 18 degrees downstairs. I stayed in the sunshine room (female only) for four nights at Peking Youth Hostel and absolutely loved it! I made the booking last minute and the staff were extremely helpful. There was access to free cold water constantly, they would charge my portable charger for me as I didn’t have the right plug, had an efficient laundry service, and allowed for bag drop before check in. The room itself was sunny with a great AC, a bathroom shared between four people that was relatively clean, and good storage and locker space. The location was great, right on a popular food market Hutong and 3 minutes from a metro station. There was a cafe/bar connected to the hostel with great options. I would absolutely recommend this room and hostel to anyone!
