The family that owns this hotel cares nothing about customer service. We stayed 3 nights and received housekeeping services exactly ZERO TIMES The excuse was that my son was in the room. He was in the room briefly on the first morning but usually they return later to make up the room. The second morning nothing was done and the sullen woman at the desk claimed it was because my son was in the room again, which was an outright lie. This woman badly needs basic training in customer service. I don't think she knows how to smile. I said that the staff should return later when this happens only to be told they're much too busy for that. so I asked how many rooms each was responsible for and she had no idea. I then asked how she could say they were busy or not busy. She then said "I don't want to talk to you", and told me to call her brother. I seldom stay at these low budget dives for these very reasons and will be taking my complaints up the chain but am not optimistic given previous comments.

Those of us who stay in Red Roof Inns know generally what to expect: insufficient lighting, often a broken desk chair, unhappy front desk staff, and slow drains. But, most importantly, we expect a reasonable price. The Red Roof in Staunton, checks most of those boxes. The room was large, it felt recently refurbished, and the bed was comfortable, albeit a little squeaky. I appreciate the choice of pillows. The location, right off I-81 but otherwise in the middle of nowhere - i.e., no adjacent restaurants or amenities - allows it to have a generous area for walking pets and parking large vehicles. It even has a pool. My room was clean and decently appointed. Although the clock worked, the TV didn't, and there was no plastic bag for the ice bucket. The room did, however, come with a refrigerator and small microwave, as well as a coffee maker. It is a decent low-budget bet if you are traveling on I 81.

Location very convenient to Rt. 81. Property old and rundown,but in a safe area. Had to move from first room assigned due to moldy smell in room. Next room not much better- a/c unit vent filthy and lock on door broken. It is pet friendly, but you can tell they don’t like dogs! Staff not welcoming or friendly. Could be a nice place with a good cleaning and better customer service!

Stopped here over night on our way south. Little tricky getting off the highway and up a back road. I was in a motorhome so had a great parling lot with lots of room. Room was not great molding in the washroom was off color and black in places. Carpet smelled. Bottom in we should have slept in the RV. Won't stay here again.

The signage leading you to the 1/4 mile driveway is very good. The only problem is the hill you have to drive up. The clerk admitted that they have people go into the ditch if the road is icy. We stayed in a non-smoking king room (#126) by the pet walk area. There was plenty of electrical ports and the bed was comfortable and solid. It was remarkably quiet despite being adjacent to the I-81. Surprise! This hotel served a continental breakfast with coffee and orange juice. I had bagels and cream cheese. Not in the mood for cereal.

I stayed at this flop. The desk clerk was rude & argumentative. The tv didn't work. The room was filthy. It even had bugs on the walls. The room was dirty with sticky floors as well. Didn't honor app price. Ended leaving at 3 a.m.

My daughter booked a weekend stay to attend a wedding using my cc. They sent cc authorization, was filled and signed and accepted by Red Roof and forwarded to Staunton. Front desk said didn't get and cancelled when she tried to check in. Called guest services and they attempted to fix but location refused. Would never stay here or at any red roof ever!

The personnel was friendly. It seems popular for truckers and laborers but does not look foreboding. Located on the outskirts of Staunton, VA, the hotel/motel sits on top of a hill (about 5 minutes from the exit) in front of a golf course. Tricky to locate. If driving Southbound, take the exit and bear right, stay in the left lane, then take the first left that splits the highway. Looking immediately to your left, you will see a billboard saying Red Roof This Exit. Turn left onto the next steep hill, where you will see welcoming messages hanging on your right. * Only 1 dog allowed per room. * My room was impressive, given the location. * The floors were swept but dirty. My dog's paws were on the air conditioner right after we walked in. * My towels were extremely rough. * 1 piece of hand soap the size of a HALF DOLLAR * 1 piece of bath soap the size of a SMALL LEAF * 32 - 40 inch Digital TV (hint, channel 58 is the listing of stations) * No menus. Suggest you pick food up BEFORE CHECKING IN! * Designated somewhat lit area to walk your dog. Bags and waste cans are available. Considering I was given an AARP rate of $91 during a holiday weekend: this was a good stay. Next time, I will stay in the town center.

We have gone to this motel many times over the last decade and I've given it good reviews for being a clean, basic, no-frills place to stay. No more. Since our last stay, Red Roof has started housing formerly homeless people at their motel. We were comfortable with this as the permanent residents were friendly but it should have been made clear on their website. Don't know whether there is a connection but cleanliness has gone way down hill since our last stay. A chair in our room and an ottoman were badly stained. We found a wet rag on the floor of the bathroom and the shower plumbing was not working right. Also, the room smelled very stale when we first opened the door. Strangely, the swimming pool area and the pool were very well-tended and reminded me of a country club. Regardless, I can't recommend this place any more and won't be going there again.

It was terrible! They have people living there. The non smoking room smells like smoke. Creepy people hanging out by your cars. The rooms are dirty. I canceled my second night. Definitely does not feel safe. Hair on the bed and sheets are stained.
