Our family stayed here for a week’s skiing holiday at Easter. The hotel offers lots of understated, usable luxury, without any pretentious bling. Isabell was a gracious host and her staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was 5 star, as was the modern spa. Plus it’s hard to beat the location, just one minute from the in-hotel locker room to one of the main lifts in Zürs, from where you can start the famous 22km “White Ring” tour around the Arlberg, which we duly did. We have been in plenty of hotels in France, Switzerland and Austria over the years: some more elegant; some more luxurious; some more expensive. But none that hit the sweet spot for all for our family needs quite like the Albona Nova.

We have stayed at the Albona Nova every year for the past 11 years and it has always been amazing. Isobel has been an amazing owner with astonishing food, luxury new spa and lovely rooms. They are always clean with super comfortable beds. The chefs never fail to deliver delicious meals that are beautiful. The spa has a lovely relaxation area, with drinks and squash available, a steam room and sauna. The pool, kids room and teens room are all have great entertainment. Highly recommend for families and anyone wanting a lovely hotel with a homely, cosy, personal feel.

We have just had a fantastic holiday staying at the Albona Nova in Zurs. It’s a wonderful, small, family-run hotel that completely exceeded our expectations. We arranged the trip ourselves i.e. flights, accommodation and transfer, so no third party holiday company involved, and it was so easy to do. The hotel replied quickly to emails and offered to help organise transfers etc. We flew to Innsbruck and it was a straight forward transfer to Zurs with minimal twists and bends to make the kids feel sick. The hotel itself is done out in typical Austrian style and is very comfortable, clean and well staffed. We received a really warm, friendly welcome and we had 2 connecting rooms; a double for my wife and I and a triple for the kids. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, loads of space and we also had a welcome mini bottle of Prosecco waiting for us. The rooms were cleaned daily and I could not fault anything. The hotel was pretty much ski in/ski out, with the nearest chairlift just 50 yards aways or so, literally less than a minute’s walk. That particular chair lift is great as it takes you up to a nice easy blue, 2 easy reds and an easy black, although part of the black may not have been open as it seemed too easy. You can also access other lifts and runs from up there. The chairlift was really quiet and we never queued, we pretty much got straight on, and that was in UK half term. Zurs itself has a good number of runs, nothing too difficult, and from Zurs you can also reach Lech, Warth, Stuben, St Christoph and St Anton easily. The whole ski area is massive, runs were almost always quiet and we barely queued for any lifts. The free bus goes between Zurs and Lech and is very regular. You can ski to Lech but we just took the bus as the stop was literally down the hill from the hotel, 50 yards or so. I would recommend visiting Warth as it is quiet and has great snow and some great runs. The food at the hotel was outstanding with 6 or 7 courses every night. The help-yourself salad buffet starter was a particular favourite of the kids. The waiting staff were super friendly, really chatty and spoke great English, which helped as my German is pretty lousy. The sommelier was really knowledgable and introduced us to some great Austrian wines, which was quite an eye opener. Breakfasts were equally good with a huge choice at the buffet including muesli, fruit, hams, cheeses, salmon, pastries, boiled eggs, bacon etc. You could also order porridge, omelettes, crepes, waffles etc. The hotel offered lunches and had a good selection, but we ate out on the slopes every lunch time. The hotel has a cosy lounge and bar and most evenings we chilled out there. In the basement was a very modern, relaxing spa with a small pool for the kids and an adult (16+) area with sauna, steam room, infra-red room for back pain, and a chill out area with reclining seats and beds where you could help yourselves to water with various cordials. There hotel also
