Riverside Motel Cache Creek

The long weekend can be a bit of a crap shoot to find a place to stay, but we travelled north from Whistler and had a very nice drive and decided to stop at Cache Creek. I read the reviews for the various places and decided to give this spot a try and phoned ahead while on the drive. We did not have high expectations as it used to be a motel six, but the counter person Christine was very helpful and nice to deal with and the room turned out to be clean and comfortable. The price was under $100/night for the two of us and we had two queen beds. It advertises that it is newly renovated. i would say that they did paint and added a cute towel holder in the bathroom and the furniture was in good shape. The only comment we might make was that there were little flies that would come into the room at sunset and landed everywhere, but there weren't too many and we weren't terribly bothered. It is situated along a small river and although it was close to the highway, we managed a decent sleep. Christine was so nice and her little dog greeter was so sweet. I would recommend people stay here from our experience and I can be a fussy person.

This hotel is basic and outdated, but comfortable bed and linen. The room (no. 9) could do with a bit of modernising, even just the doona cover would have made a difference. The furniture is all mis matched and had no logical placement. The lighting wasn’t great either. 2 lamps, one that looked around 50 years old. There are no PowerPoint in the bathroom which is very inconvenient frustrating. My husband said the mattress felt like it had a divot in it. It probably needs to be turned over or replaced. The other rooms on the website look a lot nicer than room 9. My first impression was “holy crap what have I done booking this hotel”… I’m usually the one who books the up market hotel rooms with modern facilities and views so this was a very big shock to me!… but I got through it! I rushed to book as we arrived in town and my husband had a headache and just wanted to lie down and he was already annoyed we hadn’t booked anywhere. The backyard area is atrocious. The pool is out of use, grass is overgrown and junk everywhere. It’s on a main road so it was quite busy but we managed to sleep well. This town is really just a stop over, so I didn’t mind for 1 brief stay on the way to Whistler. We passed through Kamloops but decided to keep driving so we had less of a drive to Whistler on the next day. Kamloops has a lot more options and nicer accommodation if you prefer a big town. The gentleman who checked me in was lovely and friendly and great customer service skills. It was very cheap too $129CA, so you get what you pay for.
