Old Foundry Hotel by Ideas Cartel

De Waterkant
A quirky hotel in a business complex that has been designed into an old foundry. The decor and internal design are really good, but when it comes to the rooms ( that were very clean), there are issues. Ours was long and narrow. The huge TV jutted out of the wall at the end of the bed and you struggled to get past it without banging into it. Some aspects of room maintenance were lacking. The plumbing system is worth noting. Pressure is maintained by a series of (noisy) pumps. They warn you about this but the issue isn’t YOUR pumps, but those of nearby rooms. Access to the hotel is restricted after 7pm and this means you have to take a long detour round the back. Not good. On one morning we were woken by low frequency sounds from music. We think that this was from a gym class, also in the building. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is a public cafe, not a problem though, and the breakfasts were excellent. The WiFi is fast, near reception, but in the room we found it poor and erratic. Their idea for a quirky hotel is good, but some work needs to be done to improve standards.

Oranjezicht
The hotel is in an excellent location. It is in the city center, at the foot of Table Mountain. It is only a few minutes away from many museums and art galleries. It has a lot of parking spaces and its own restaurant and bar. You can enjoy delicious food without leaving home. However, the room size is small and it is very difficult to get to the hotel in the evening. There is air conditioning fan noise, which is a bit regrettable.

Camps Bay
We were anticipating a luxurious stay here at the end of our three week S African trip. We were sadly disappointed. First - be aware that the hotel is not in Camps Bay. It is situated by itself on the windy road - you cannot walk to any other place. Our experience: On arrival we were delivered through the garage and the hotel delivery and staff entrances because our transfer service was a van (Although the hotel van can use the main entrance). Then we asked the concierge to show us our rooms because we were considering upgrading. She must have been new because she led us up and down several stairs and corridors without finding our rooms. I read the room signs and showed her where we should be going - NOT A GOOD START! Rooms were fine, but a long trek down hallways and stairs with god awful striped, worn carpet that looked like something you would find at Motel 6. Breakfast was good, but two of three mornings had to wait over 15 minutes for a cup of coffee, and the third morning they failed to deliver a coffee within 30 minutes despite three requests (never got it because we had to leave). Didnt receive any turndown service on last night. Laid out by the pool, waited over an hour before there was any staff to get a drink there. This hotel better get its staffing issues together or they wont be there for long. Compared to our stay at the Fancourt Manor House, this was a 1 star hotel!

Green Point
Amazing place in Green Point very near to everything, we even had parking with no problems in the hotel car park which is not easy to find. Staff including Nadine, the owners and everyone else were very friendly and attentive, we were also upgraded. Great location, great breakfast, we loved everything.

I stayed at Mountain Manor Guesthouse & Executive Suites at the end of February during my trip to Cape Town. The intimacy and hospitality of the property owner, Michelle Whitehad was outstanding. I have enjoyed a beautiful breakfast with Michelle. Thank you once again for everything. if you are planning to visit the mother city, I highly recommend everyone check the availability of the property to have a wonderful experience.

Camps Bay
Our experience at this hotel went above and beyond our wildest expectations! The hotel's exquisite location grants you a balcony view of the ocean and the majestic Table Mountain as a backdrop. The level of service we received was truly exceptional, leaving us thoroughly impressed. The rooms were impeccably clean, and the range of amenities provided was more than generous. The rooms themselves strike a perfect balance between spaciousness and coziness, creating a truly inviting atmosphere. A noteworthy feature that sets this hotel apart is the complimentary mini bar, offering a variety of snacks and drinks – a rare find. What's even more remarkable is that these snacks are not only delicious but also cater to vegan and gluten-free preferences. Without a doubt, we are already making plans to return to this outstanding establishment in the future.
