Popular Carcassonne 4-star Hotels

What you would expect from a city centre hotel. Rooms were small but comfortable and as we didn’t spend too much in the room it wasn’t a problem. We did have trouble unlocking the in-room security box (before we’d used it) but this was quickly sorted. We had a balcony with a fabulous view of the river and old city.

First the positives , hotel is in a great location and is ideal for visiting the castle and it is only a short walk into the town centre. The staff we encountered were very friendly and hard working . The decor is a bit strange with black and orange corridors and the rooms were dark . The cost of breakfast was 16 euros each ….. and although the lady who served us was very friendly the choice was very limited . The price of the drinks in the rooftop bar were also excessive , you expect to pay more in the hotel bar but I found the prices a bit over the top . So for somewhere to sleep , shower and explore this hotel is great but I would definitely dine elsewhere

We stayed here one night as part of a tour group. Our group had a large separate room for a dinner together. Our room was small but we were on the first floor with a door out into the yard. It was lovely when we went outside in the morning and looked back at the hotel. We have a picture of us standing in the doorway taken from the garden and it is my favorite picture of the entire trip because it looks so ”French.” Breakfast was nice; nothing out of the ordinary but bright and cheerful. The hotel is only a few minutes walk to the Carcassonne castle so after dinner we took a stroll up there. The area was open and pretty empty and I wondered how safe it was going inside when a group of four teenage boys passed us as we were going out. They spoke to us, I said hello, then they said something in French that they thought was hilarious as they looked back at us. I would not have wanted to have been in there when they were.

So unseemable the house from outside, so extraordinarily beautiful and artful are the interiors. Very modern and practically furnished with a large garden and a winter garden at bad weather. The garden is a natural artwork and invites to stay and enjoy (e.g. at the Apéro or at breakfast. The owners are making a great effort to make the guests stay as pleasant as possible. Excellent ! Warm service and lovely atmosphere!

Where do we start with this one, to the warm welcome when we arrived from André. Then upgraded to a higher grade room and they are just magnificent. Free standing bath, very modern, air con that actually works how it should. Electric curtains, excellent Wi-Fi, fridge. It really is one of the best hotels we stayed at, added to this the fact that it has only 10 bedrooms and you are in for a special time. The pool area is gorgeous and most days it was like our private pool. I couldn’t praise this hotel enough but the add on the restaurant which is top, top class. This has everything. It is a bit of a walk in town 15 minutes but taxis and public transport is a nightmare in general in Carcassonne. Overall, superb break you will not be disappointed.
