The staff were not following COVID protocols. None wore masks. Day manager actually spoke to us with mask on chin and AROUND the safety barrier. One pen used for everything by everyone. Night manager & staff as well as other guests were all maskless. We were not asked to show proof of our vaccination status. Inspired ZERO confidence that they were actually sanitising anything. My partner also felt unsafe as there were a lot of people loitering around the building. The room was clean and tidy. Located excellently for the event we were attending. Hot water worked, loved the choice of flooring. That was all. The room offered only one single bar of soap. No shower gel, shampoo or any extra toiletries as is expected from even the most basic accomodation you can stay in anywhere else. I have stayed in youth hostels in the outback and even they offered more than a tiny bar of soap. There was no indications of any extra services offered or being available. There were no extra pillows or blankets available in the room. One very flat pillow per person and a thin doona only. The pillows were so low that I could not sleep on it and when I asked for another pillow from the night manager I was met with rudeness. He finally gave me an old, dirty pillow with no pillow case (see photos). When I asked for a pillow case he acted like I was being ridiculous. We slept badly as the bed was very hard. Actually went home and slept as we were so tired from the uncomfortable bed. Upon checkout we got stuck in the lift as the door to the G floor would not open. We finally called for help using the phone but even though the front desk manager answered and said he would be with us immediately he was not. We finally left by going back to our floor and using the fire escape to exit via the basement parking. He then told us he couldn’t hear what we were saying on the phone so basically ignored us, and then gave some rubbish excuse about the one elevator being an old one that was not for guests. Basically if we had not exited the way we did we would have been stuck in the elevator for hours being ignored. There was no signage indicating anywhere that one of the two lifts was not for guests, and if the lift was not for guests you would think it would be clearly marked so.

Lygon Street
The picture on the website is for a front room. It cost us $190 for Thursday Sunday and Monday and $198 for Friday and Saturday nights. It's right on Lygon Street which is very noisy with traffic. The room had a small balcony. Curiously there's no hotel chain represented in Carlton, but having stayed at the Clocktower (which is VERY basic) we opted for this property. It does have a small lift but you walk through the carpark, past boxes and bits of old furniture, rubbish bins etc. to get to it. The room itself was quite big, with a separate bathroom (very small shower) and kitchenette area. It was clean and the towels were good, toilet paper very cheap and thin, always a worry. The air conditioner in our room stopped working the night before we left, and the bathroom door handle became very loose as a screw fell out of it. Lygon St itself looks sad, with many restaurants and shops up for lease or closed permanently, thanks to Covid. For nearly a thousand dollars for 5 nights, we will not be staying here again.

This is a wonderful place to stay. I had an upgrade through a rewards program and I was delighted that it was available because the views I had were simply amazing. Also through rewards I was welcomed by a free bottle of white wine and the opportunity of late check out. As I arrived very early, the receptionist (who was incredibly friendly and smiling) was happy to keep my luggage so I could head straight out and enjoy my day. When I returned she explained all the available facilities so that I didn't have to chase anything up. Up on the 47th floor, I simply towered over most of the buildings around me. I also had a corner room (4713), which meant I had a view from two sides. It's essentially a studio, but with the bed tucked away from the main living area. The condition of the room was great, with a very modern feel. The bathroom, albeit a little small, was clean and appeared as brand new as the rest of the room. The bed faced out into the city which offered an amazing view. Definitely one for couples as well as singles. Great touch to have bedside controls for blinds, mood lighting and power points also. I would definitely stay here again! Location in CBD is great with trams and metro nearby!

It is equipped with a stove, a refrigerator, a washing machine, a bowl and a pot. It is very convenient. I bought six boxes of eggs in a small supermarket and burned them myself. The hotel has no breakfast to eat on the street, in the supermarket.

Front entrance welcomes you with a small Zen feel. The lobby is connected with the restaurant in an open floor space. Stayed in Standard King Room, was very spacious with small arm chair, desk, TV. The bathrooms are very modern with touch enabled mirrors. Absolutely enjoyed our stay there. Would definitely book again
