It is romantic with the night lighting. There's quite a selection of western, Thai and Chinese food from the hotel breakfast buffet.

Actually it is my second time staying at this hotel. The rooms have good A/C, shower, bath products, like toothbrushing sets. Comfortable bed, and a decent breakfast with a variety of products/meals. There is kind of a ”moldy” smell from the carpets, but it did not bother me so much since I was traveling outside the hotel most of the time.

A 5 stars boutique hotel located in old town, very convinence👍 Right in front is the walking street/ open market on Sunday. There is a school opposite to the hotel. Its rather noisy in the morning as my room is facing to the school, however trouist like us usually wake up early so no big deal. All snackssss/drinksss in the mini bar are free👍👍 includes cokes, beers, 6 bottles of water, lemon tea, chipsss, chocolate. 😅 😁 Afternoon tea by the pool is free too! Very good for those who want to relax in the hotel Staffs are very friendly👍👍

We spent a few days in August in this hotel and the truth is that it was excellent value for money. The friendly and decisive staff. Location in the square of Chiang Mai, totally central. On the other hand, the room was cozy, and the pool, although logical because we are in Thailand in the north, there were a lot of mosquitoes, it was clean and the same as the room, cozy and clean. There is a kitten that is part of the hotel super funny We recommend it to spend a few days in Chiang Mai it meets the essential requirements of quality price location We would return for sure

Stopped here a few times, mainly because my Thai in-laws love the place, only because it is so close to the airport. Every visit something was wrong!! Not exactly the cheapest accommodation either.The toilet would not flush in one room, the taps at the bathroom sink turned with the handles in another room. We could not sleep because of the road noise (we were on the 5th floor!) in another room. The wi-fi was non-existent in one room.There was no hot water in another room. Every room the shower trays filled up with soapy water and was very slippery; dangerous in fact. The breakfast was OK for me, nothing flash. Toast, jam, juice, tea, coffee, milo, all the basics. Not real sure why people were climbing through the window to get here though. One lady I saw scraped all the brown off her toast, so that is was just white!!?? (Something to do with Thais believing that toast causes cancer I was told). Loved the sign beside the toaster that actually worked (the other one was broken on every visit and was just sitting there collecting dust). No cancer from that one! Words to this effect: ”Please do not put butter and jam on bread before placing in toaster.” At least the beer from reception 'fridge was cheaper than most shops. Nice and cold too. Gotta love it!

I arrived to the hotel and on the outside it looked really nice, and the staff was very nice. The girl who checked me in thow wasn't that great to understand english, so I was lucky to speak some thai. The didn't help you with your bags up to the room, but I didn't mind because I travel with good working bags that has wheels. When I came in the room the first thing that hit me was a bad smell from the toilet. (I was given a room on the top floor 608 to be precise. The size of the room was ok, but the furniture I could see how dirty and worn down rhey where. It looked like something the bought on a fleemarket. Further on I tried the bed it was the worst matress I have ever slept on, not only that the hotel is next to a road and at night it was so noicy from traffic so I didn't get much sleep. Sometimes I woke up and thought I had a motorbike in my room. I had booked a stay for 5 nights, but after 1 night I decided to move. So after one more painful night I checked out from this hotel and will NEVER return again.

Loud music was played from 10:00 pm to 3:00 am and I had trouble sleeping during my stay. We recommend bringing earplugs. The pool is small, but the water is clean. The Brazilian Blue Cafe across the river in front of the hotel is delicious and good value.

Let me just start with this... Old City Wall Inn is a tremendous value and I highly recommend you book a stay here if you are travelling to Chiang Mai. This review will currently only cover my very initial experience as I have just checked in. As always, I will provide updates based upon my continued experience. I just moved to Chiang Mai and my condo at the Astra will not be ready for approximately a month so my little sister who already lives in Chiang Mai was kind enough to find a couple one month stay options that are reasonably close to my future condo. Within those options, I chose Old City Wall Inn primarily for the following reasons in the order listed: 1) Bathtub - I have always opted to live in places that have bathtubs. It is an increasingly rare feature, but something I place a very high value on. 2) Location - Being close to walking street is great and there is no shortage of dining and entertainment options. It is also quite close to my future condo and my little sister already has a condo there so it is nice to be close to her. 3) A big white wall - perfect for watching movies from my portable projector and there is a couch ideally located to comfortably watch the movies. I chose the smaller and cheaper room without a kitchen because of the beautiful white wall. 4) Price - I was quite pleasantly surprised at what a great value it is. When my little sister told me the price, I was actually shocked at how good the price was. I was willing and expecting to spend double what I actually ended up paying. My little sister set up the reservation the same day that I checked in paying 1,000 baht to hold the room until I arrived and paid the remaining balance as well as an approximate 3000 baht deposit which is perfectly reasonable. My check in experience was very quick, pleasant and convenient. I was asked to provide a copy of my passport prior to arrival which surely helped to speed up the check in process. It was a pleasure meeting Golf, who I spoke with prior to arrival and the staff without exception seemed polite and competent. As I am staying for an entire month, there was a longer than normal amount of paperwork that had to be filled out, but as an attorney, I have a strange love of contracts and it did not bother me. This was also all ready for me when I arrived and so I had zero wait time for the preparation and execution of the documentation. The room is on the second floor and although I would have preferred a room with a street view, the rear facing room is probably a bit more quiet. There is a balcony that overlooks a garden and there is a sign posted forbidding smoking which is absolutely fine with me since the smell of cigarettes does have a tendency to permeate into the room even if smoked on a balcony. The only 3 things that I find so far to be somewhat lackingt: 1) The bathtub drain stopper does not hold water in the bathtub very long. I came here without much expectation because it was cheap, and it was a very satisfying stay experience. The staff is overwhelmingly kind. It was touching to see that the five-star hotel took care of us carefully but not too much, unlike the service kindness of the five-star hotel. The room condition was nice and I didn't have any complaints. Breakfast is not a buffet, but a style of choosing 2 dishes per person, but it came out neat and delicious, so it was better than a buffet. The breakfast and swimming pool were always spacious, perhaps because there were not many family guests. There are a lot of reviews on soundproofing, actually it's really not soundproof, so if you're sensitive, you should consider it. However, most of the rooms seem to use it only as accommodation rather than enjoying something, so there was no loud noise.

Location is an easy 10 minute walk to moat and main gate of ‘old city’. However located in a quiet residential area, so away from traffic and night noise. Even a neighborly rooster to welcome the day! Each room is a corner room, with yes, a narrow terrace (good for cloths drying). Rooms are large, bright, clean, good a/c, mini fridge, soap and shampoo. No tea kettle, but there is hot water, coffee and tea in lobby area. Lobby/reception area is open and airy. Comfortable - great place to review day with a cold drink or plan day with a coffee. I loved the sounds of children singing and reciting their lessons from the nearby school I stayed 3 nights, went to pai and returned for another 2 nights. Staff is always available, helpful, spoke English, can arrange tours and such.
