We stayed at the Winner Inn for 3 nights while part of a tour of 18 people. Check in went quickly and smooth. The front end staff was not overly friendly. There was an on site restaurant that was only ever open for breakfast. But there was always people in there. They did let us bring out own food to eat in there one night as long as we cleaned up out whole mess. Which was fine we would have never left a mess for someone else to clean up. The elevator was small but did fit about 4 guest and their suitcases. There was also a very tall, steep set of stairs. The floors all squeak very loudly. Didn't really bother us until late at night when the party crowds were coming back. The walls were also paper thin so you heard everything and I mean everything. We had a very large weird shape room. The fridge was not plugged in and had nothing in it. The tv was there not plugged in but did not work well. The bed was very soft (I prefer to firm over to plush) but still slept good. The what should have been a fitted sheet did not cover the bed (see pictures). We called the front desk they said we had to come get a new one or we had to switch hotels (really good service hey). We went and picked it up and it had a huge hole in it. Called again, did the same thing. This time it was another double sheet so we just put it on so it covered the end that was sticking out. The room was very basic and plain. It was actually very clean minus the one dead bug that was on the floor. The bathroom looked like it had seem better days. The shower was nothing special. The walls looked dirty but I think it is because they didn't use the proper grout for being in a wet space. Good luck getting warm water. It took me 15mins to get it warm. The toilet seat isn't the right style for the type of toilet it is (see pictures). No shampoo or conditioner. AC worked great. It is in an okay location. It is on a quiet back alley. If I were to come back to Chiang Mai I would look for something in an even better location. There was one restaurant on the street and the food was horrible. Even walking to the Main Street a few blocks away didn't really seem to have many restaurants. We started ordering from GrabFood (Transportation grab app) which got us some amazing food from all over the town. There was a 7-11 on the Main Street where we got snacks one night and shampoo & conditioner. Best of luck if you decide to stay here.

Let me just start with this... Old City Wall Inn is a tremendous value and I highly recommend you book a stay here if you are travelling to Chiang Mai. This review will currently only cover my very initial experience as I have just checked in. As always, I will provide updates based upon my continued experience. I just moved to Chiang Mai and my condo at the Astra will not be ready for approximately a month so my little sister who already lives in Chiang Mai was kind enough to find a couple one month stay options that are reasonably close to my future condo. Within those options, I chose Old City Wall Inn primarily for the following reasons in the order listed: 1) Bathtub - I have always opted to live in places that have bathtubs. It is an increasingly rare feature, but something I place a very high value on. 2) Location - Being close to walking street is great and there is no shortage of dining and entertainment options. It is also quite close to my future condo and my little sister already has a condo there so it is nice to be close to her. 3) A big white wall - perfect for watching movies from my portable projector and there is a couch ideally located to comfortably watch the movies. I chose the smaller and cheaper room without a kitchen because of the beautiful white wall. 4) Price - I was quite pleasantly surprised at what a great value it is. When my little sister told me the price, I was actually shocked at how good the price was. I was willing and expecting to spend double what I actually ended up paying. My little sister set up the reservation the same day that I checked in paying 1,000 baht to hold the room until I arrived and paid the remaining balance as well as an approximate 3000 baht deposit which is perfectly reasonable. My check in experience was very quick, pleasant and convenient. I was asked to provide a copy of my passport prior to arrival which surely helped to speed up the check in process. It was a pleasure meeting Golf, who I spoke with prior to arrival and the staff without exception seemed polite and competent. As I am staying for an entire month, there was a longer than normal amount of paperwork that had to be filled out, but as an attorney, I have a strange love of contracts and it did not bother me. This was also all ready for me when I arrived and so I had zero wait time for the preparation and execution of the documentation. The room is on the second floor and although I would have preferred a room with a street view, the rear facing room is probably a bit more quiet. There is a balcony that overlooks a garden and there is a sign posted forbidding smoking which is absolutely fine with me since the smell of cigarettes does have a tendency to permeate into the room even if smoked on a balcony. The only 3 things that I find so far to be somewhat lackingt: 1) The bathtub drain stopper does not hold water in the bathtub very long. My friend and I are models and we escaped Europe and fled from the COVID 19 carnage. We have been to Chiang Mai before (modelling) and loved it, the north of Thailand was fairly untouched by COVID and due to being 40 degrees each day we had decided that it had to be the destination. We booked this hotel with a swimming pool and aircon which would help keep our skin soft. We have been here for 2 months now and the staff could not have been more helpful for us, they have protected us from crazy fans and paparazzi with their lives. Unsure on the future here most hotels closed but Mandala remained open for us and some others. So it wasnt purely because we are both models, they did it out the goodness of their hearts. The pool is also very secluded which is great because we are models and need our privacy. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to all our modelling friends. MANDALA LOVING

Upon appearance this hotel looks rather elegant and really quite charming and in a great location, close to local markets and bars and a good base for tours. The lobby is gorgeous and the lady checking us in was very informative and polite. The room we were given on the 18th floor. (1826) was huge and although dated was still very nice and with a great view of the city. The pool area is lovely too, but as you can imagine the bar prices were expensive. The good ended there. The lifts take far too long to come down. There is an express lift but is no faster. The wifi is very hit and miss. The beds were awful and were sleeping on concrete blocks. Had the worst night’s sleep for the 1st of 2 nights. 2nd night we actually slept quite well but mainly due to being so tired from the night before. The shower is nothing but a trickle, and there is a ledge on the floor in the doorway when entering the bathroom which is very easy to trip over, maybe get some yellow tape on it. Breakfast was mainly catered for asians, not many western options at all, and what was there was grim, we had breakfast included but didn’t bother the next day. Over all it is good value for money and if they were to change the mattress I would stay again but the beds were just truly abysmal.

Out of the lobby you can walk to the Night Bazaar immediately. About 7 minutes walk to the Food Market where there's live music performances. Monday to Friday are the best nights while Sunday most of the restaurants are closed. About 30 minutes walk from the right side of the lobby you can reach the Old Ciity Wall. It is romantic with the night lighting. There's quite a selection of western, Thai and Chinese food from the hotel breakfast buffet.

The traffic is very convenient next to my friend's house. There are hotel parking spaces. But it is recommended not to book the 1-200 rooms, which is not very good. The tall one is not bad. This house is free of deposit. Hotel rooms are non-smoking, you can smoke downstairs. Hope to help everyone.

To be honest, we had booked out stay at another hotel inside the old city walls, but that hotel cancelled on us last minute (we were already in Thailand!) and we were rebooked here into the Sridonchai hotel. At first I was less than thrilled to be staying outside the city walls, but I have to say, this place definitely charmed me! The location isn't bad, it is a short walk to the walls, but you are close to the night market and a bunch of bistelin shops and restaurants, so it is actually quite a good location. The hotel is very cute and my wife and I loved the style of it. The staff were friendly, and overall, we enjoyed spending part of our honeymoon here. Definitely recommend!

Needed a place in Chiang Mai for 4 nights. Didn't care about luxury but didn't want the cheapest place I could find either. Came across this on Agoda and thought it might be worth a try. It's 150 Baht ride from The Chiang Mai Airport. I arrived Check in Was quick and easy. The room is immaculate. Small but very clean. Great bed flat screen TV many many channels. The air condition is fantastic. It's a hostile but it also has. Individual rooms Which is what I booked. It's unbelievable value. 22.50 a night. They don't advertise free breakfast. But they have a common area just behind reception. With a big screen TV and it's got a full kitchen that everybody is welcome to use. If you clean up after yourself, they have all the utensils. They do have a small breakfast in the morning, which is free to everybody who stays here. Although they don't advertise. It waffles cereal coffee tea toast. Basic But very nice. They also have four or five bicycles that are available free of charge to use which is a tremendous perk. There are a couple of negatives but based on the value for money. I can work around them. Number one no room safe number two When you take the key card out when you leave the room the refrigerator also loses electricity. First I've seen this most hotels I've stayed at. Had the refrigerator socket wired to stay hot, even when the key card was out. And it would be nice if they had a chair. In the room nothing fancy just a basic chair. Should I find myself in Chiang Mai again? I will definitely use this hotel again. The staff here are very very friendly. From the reception to the room cleaners everyone always smiling willing to help out answer any questions. Making sure everybody has a nice day. I can't recommend this place enough.

Stayed for 5days, welcoming & friendly staffs esp. the manager & servers during breakfast. Location is superb, surrounded by many eateries and night bazaar is just around the corner. Room is clean although abit wore out, bed & pillow is comfy. The open air bistro is lively at night with reasonable price.
