The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago

The RC Chicago was absolutely beautiful, and the staff were amazing. At one point, I needed to find a drug store to get my daughter some tampons (lol) because it was "an emergency," and when I asked the concierge for directions, she actually just got me some tampons without me having to go out to get them. I was so appreciative, especially since it was after dark. The patio was so beautiful, as was the lobby and atrium. We had the best time, and the hotel was mostly the reason why. The day we left, the elevators weren't working because of an accidental tripping of the fire alarm, so we had to walk down 16 flights of stairs -- but the staff we encountered were so helpful and apologetic ... and calm, which was surprising in that scenario. Thank you for a wonderful visit, and we will definitely be back!

I can't say enough about The Ritz- Carlton Chicago. I've stayed here multiple times. My last stay was in August. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. There's an outdoor bar and an indoor bar, both are gorgeous. The staff is amazing. Jeremy Roberts club level manager went above and beyond to make sure I had a phenomenal stay in August. He really knows how to make guests feel welcomed and special. The city room views are absolutely breathtaking. There's nothing better than laying in my bed gazing into my favorite city! The bellhops are wonderful too. Very helpful and always treat guests with the utmost respect. The check in process is always smooth. The rooms are very spacious and beds are very comfortable.

My history with this establishment spans many years. I first came to this Ritz Carlton in December of 1983. Unfortunately, this visit left a bit to be desired. My mom and I arrived on Sunday afternoon. There was no one to take our bags at the entrance. My mom is 85 and could have used some help. This lack of attention has never happened before at this hotel. We ate dinner in the bar area that night. After waiting for almost 20 minutes a server finally came over and asked if "we were all set." No, we are not. I was served right away in this bar area two years ago when I stayed at this hotel. The second night we ordered the charcuterie board. Could you have included some cheese on this plate? Daily swims were something I was looking forward to on this visit. But I could use the Ritz pool once during our stay because of renovations. My only option was to use the pool at the Four Seasons two blocks away. Last September I stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Rancho Mirage, California. The women's locker rooms at the Four Seasons and the Rancho Mirage Ritz were so much brighter and nicer than the facilities at your hotel. The relaxation room in your spa was cramped with old magazines and no snacks. Please consider renovating this space. That said the Chicago Ritz is still a great hotel. Our room was very comfortable with an amazing view. Your bathrooms are the best in the business. The front desk did a great job helping with a variety of tasks. But I think service needs to be tightened up and parts of the hotel need a facelift.
