I chose this hotel specifically for its close proximity to the train station, thinking it would be an easy walk. Even using Google Maps I struggled to orientate myself as whilst the hotel is relatively close to the train station, you have to walk convoluted counterintuitive route to get there, which includes a long dark tunnel, I can only describe as a "mugger's alley". Check-in was quick and staff were polite but I was advised that breakfast and use of the hotel restaurant had to be pre-booked, which I found surprising and completely bizarre. Never known any other hotel to operate that policy. When traveling for leisure I like the flexibility of being able to eat when I feel like it, within the confines of opening hours. Having to plan ahead for when I was going to eat didn't sit well with me, and in the end I didn't bother eating at the hotel, even though I had pre-paid for breakfast. The room is what you would expect from any chain hotel. I was disappointed to find there were no biscuits with the tea and cofffee. Only a trifling matter but it's what you come to expect from staying at hotels, so I'm curious as to why Premier Inn has gone against the grain. My only other issue was that I couldn't figure out how to turn the water off after having a shower. The dials kept alternating between bath and shower water. This may have been my neurodiversity failing to recognise "the obvious" or a plumbing fault, I don’t know. I reported it to staff but I was checking out anyway so I never found out the outcome. One good thing I can say about the hotel is that it's within spitting distance of the "The Great Western", a very good pub which does cheap food. If I was ever to return to Wolverhampton I would choose a different hotel, though
