Myself and my Son 11 years have been staying with Ken & Fon 1 month now and feel like part of the family. Have also met some great new friends staying here on Memory's lock-down special offer which is the best value in Central Vientiane only 100 meters to Mekong river and all attractions including shopping, restaurants + the amazing night market and fair which is very child friendly and fun for adults also. Nice breakfast juice + eggs any style. Travel Agency and Motorbike rentals. Walk in rate $15. Read more

Moved from continental plaza to Ji hotel for our last night in Vientiane. The hotel is especially for Chinese tourist… it’s good and not good… based in old Chinatown, the hotel is on the 6st floor of a building. Inside it’s very nice, quite new, and service was nice. Then come the morning and the included breakfast… only Chinese food combination… not really choices… no coffee, no orange juice or else, only a cup of milk… some porridges and Chinese rice rolls or buns and eggs, these kind of combination… not attractive at all… to eat the breakfast you have to go to 1st floor and walk outside to a partnered restaurant who will serve you a choice of 5 Chinese combinations food. Workers of the hotel are nice but don’t speak English only Chinese… have a rooftop swimming pool and a gym but exposed to sunshine so it was too hot to swim or to gym 🤭.

I stayed here for 4N. Was very happy with my time here. The hotel is in great condition, my room was nice. There is a gym which has basic cardio equipment and weights (which is enough for me to get a good workout!). Great location in the center of Vientiane. Breakfast was fair - appropriate level of selection for the hotel size. Reccomended!

Excellent hotel, clean, spacious rooms, and fully equipped. The manager provided me with som chai which was very nice indeed. I had a warm welcome and a very pleasant stay. Only snag being a lack to a tennis court at the hotel premises.

Salana Boutique is a must for a stay in Vientiane. The location is perfect for all the city sights, all within a few minutes walk and close to the airport. The Salana is a beautiful hotel, and the room was fresh, clean and welcoming. As you would expect from a top hotel the staff are very welcoming, helpful and very friendly. I would certainly recommend.

JJennifer (Jenna) ClarkeThis hotel is a pleasant 1 hour and 45 minute drive from Vientiane. The room was comfortable with a lovely view of the forest. The staff were friendly but not many speak English which is totally OK. The resort makes sure it employs local people from the area which I respect whole heartedly. Fortunately there was a lovely and attentive staff member called Bounthone who ensured I got everything I needed and helped me interpret. I left him a tip to show my appreciation. The manager Mr Xay was friendly and willing to assist when needed.
When I first arrived it was the last day of Pi Mai ( Laos New Year) so it was extremely busy with guests coming up for day trips. The day after was quiet and peaceful.
This time of year is dry season. I was disappointed that there was no water in the river and the waterfall as I was looking forward to a fresh water swim! I recommend a visit in the rainy season!
It was a comfortable stay. The food was okay. I will return when there is water in the river.

GGuest UserI decided to try this new hostel as a budget alternative. It is dormitory style, in a kind of mini-cube design, like Japanese hostels I have read about, but with curtains instead of secure doors.
On the plus side: Everything was very clean. The shower was nice and hot. The plumbing all worked. The reception area is a nice coffee bar with good food, coffee and tea and good WiFi internet and a nice loop of current music by the original artists. There is also a 4th floor balcony to watch the sunrise.
On the minus side:
There were no power outlets in the reception area. (But there are two in each cubiicle.) The shower had no hooks or rack to hang a towel or clothes.
The cubicles have no secure door, just a curtain. (But there is a separate locker for each cubicle to secure luggage and valuables.) There was no hot water for coffee available early before 6:00 am. And the sleeping area was refrigirated to about 20 degrees C (but the comforter was nice and warm all night).
I might try it again, and I will definitely be back to enjoy the coffee.

The room is on the 4th floor, no elevator, very steep stairs, but there will be staff to help carry the luggage in front of the room. The room is clean, new, white towels, spacious room, with windows on 2 sides, good balcony, clothes rack, bathroom has hot water but smells of pipes.
Breakfast is a basic menu, eggs and bread, but not as in the picture.

Located not far from the airport and city center the hotel was clean and modern but the best part of my stay was the staff...especially Deth and Julie! Deth and Julie were so kind and accommodating and were so well versed in English. I felt very safe and taken care of because of Deth and Julie's hospitality! GGuest UserI arrived Vientiane by train. There were two buses picking up passengers opposite the front of the station. One was a minibus going to the night market (30k kips) and the other was a public bus going to Vientiane Central Bus Station (25k kips). The minbus going to the night market was full so I took the one going to the Central Bus Station. On checking Google maps, the one going to the night market is the correct transportation to take.
It was close to 9pm when I arrived at the bus station. Note that the reception closes at 10pm. I took a tuk tuk at 50k kips (bargained from 100 kips). The fare was 30k kips when I took a car from the hostel back to the Bus Station to catch Bus 12 to Vientiane (Khamsavath) train station. Do note that this is a different train station from the station I'd arrived from. That station is used by the Laos-China train, while Khamsavath station is used by the Laos-Thai train.
The above described the location of the hostel in relation to the train stations and Central Bus Station.
As for the 3rd floor room (was it 2nd?? well, it was at the highest floor) that I was assigned, there is space enough for 6 beds (3 double deckers). My beddings were spotlessly clean. The aircon worked perfectly. The staff who had checked me in helped with my luggage, which was much appreciated. He pointed out to me the facilities too.
The bathroom cubicles and toilets are on the ground floor. They are clean. The bathroom cubicle i had used were without showergel/soap or shampoo. I did not check the other cubicles.
The common area is behind the reception on the groundfloor. It is air-conditioned and has comfortable seats. There is a water dispenser which dispenses cold water. Again, much appreciated.
In a folder on a desk opposite the reception desk contains information on transportation, fares and public bus schedules. Most useful!
The owner (i assumed he is) had kindly helped me call a car to the central station. He went out in the heat to look out for the car and bode me farewell. It is personal touches like this that warms the heart.
Yes, it is a hostel I would recommend. The 2 attached pictures were information displayed on the walls of the common area which i found useful.

GGuest UserOverall a really good hostel to stay in Vientiane. We couldn't find any available rooms online anymore so we direct messaged them on Facebook and it turned out they still had a twin room free for our dates. The room was not very large but big enough to be comfortable in. Bathroom was clean but the toilet seat was loose so had to be careful using this. All in all the room was good enough for us. The café downstairs is really nice, breakfast that was included was lovely and large portions (especially the rice soup) and the food we had for lunch there was amazing. Really nice vibes as well so you could even come here just for the food if you're staying elsewhere. The only minus for this place is the location. It's a bit on the edge of the city centre and quite a walk away from the hustle and bustle. There's some things to do close by, like the famous arch, but most good restaurants and bars are on the other end of the centre 15-20 minutes walk away. We don't mind walking a bit so not a huge problem for us but just something to keep in mind. We also organised our transport, the sleeper bus service to Pakse, which all went really well. They picked us up in a minivan at the agreed time and brought us to the bus station. There the driver paid for our tickets and showed us to our sleeper bus. We were surprised by the bus in a positive way, which was much better and nicer than we expected from all the stories we'd heard. It looked like the driver bought the tickets from a company called Chitprasong and they used King of Bus buses which were pretty comfortable. Just be aware the beds are for 2 people so if you're alone you'll have to share with a stranger. All in all highly recommend though

GGuest UserIt’s a great bang for your buck this hotel is! Communication is a breeze, and the free airport pickup and transfer to the railway station are just fantastic perks. I messaged them for a pickup as I landed super early, around 7:30 am, and guess what? The driver was already there waiting for me. Talk about service!
The room was spotless and really cozy—I slept like a baby during my stay. Since the hotel is pretty new, they’re still getting things up and running. For example, the free breakfast ran out quickly because of a big tour group. But no worries, Manager Chan was on it! He quickly whipped up some dumplings for the individual guests like me. How awesome is that?
The front desk staff might struggle a bit with English or Chinese, but they’re super eager to help. Google Translate can be a lifesaver here. The driver, on the other hand, speaks fluent Chinese. He even offered his WeChat, so you can chat with him in Mandarin easily.
One of my favorite spots was the lobby. Manager Chen often makes tea for himself and invites guests to join in. He’s so friendly and generous with his time. I learned so much about Laos and its culture just by chatting with him.
The only downside is that the hotel is a bit out of the city center and since it’s new, Google Maps isn’t quite up to date. This can make it a bit tricky for ride-hailing apps to find the place.
A few little extras like a hair dryer, a city map, and some tour information would be great additions for travelers. But overall, it’s a wonderful place to stay!

GGuest UserIt was my first time going abroad, and I was very worried about the language barrier. But surprisingly, the people who came to pick me up at the airport were Chinese. The Laotians could understand what we said. There were Chinese restaurants, Chinese supermarkets, and vegetable markets nearby, which was very convenient. They also lent us their kitchen and used disposable face and bath towels, which was rare.

Front Staff is helpful, friendly and informative except the housekeeping (they talked loudly in the corridor while cleaning and shouting) so noisy plus people slamming the door, couple fighting and shouting, construction noise. I can't even sleep well whole stay. Plus things is the amenity is complete, drinking water, comb, tooth brush, hair dryer , shampoo and shower gel.
