The first time was six years ago, the service quality was very good, so it was my first choice when I came to Ireland after the new crown. Unfortunately, the whole feeling this time was far from the first time, and I was quite disappointed☹️… First of all, the wireless network in the room was often interrupted or there was no signal. I called the front desk and the reply we got was that the signal was not good in the countryside. Now that technology is so advanced, such a reason is really far-fetched. Secondly, there was no drinking water in the room. I asked the waiter to bring water, but the waiter asked us to get it ourselves. Is this the service that a star-rated hotel should have? I understand that the store uses handwritten menus to show their high-end, but the font of the entire menu is very difficult to read. It is so dense that people feel dizzy. It is not the kind of comfortable and clear font and layout. Since it is a castle hotel, people should be able to walk around. It was possible six years ago, but now many places are surrounded by gates. It is impossible to walk around.

The in put of the owner talking about the surrounding area and its history and the history of the castle and the past owners. The staff were very attentive and friendly , a very warm and welcoming atmosphere in the hotel.

This was my fourth time staying in the Abbeyglen Castle Hotel and that alone lets the reader know how wonderful this hotel is. My friend now also stays upon my recommendation. Upon arrival one has the sensation of coming home, knowing that the welcome will be. there, that the evening meal never disappoints, the bedroom so cosy. We look forward to the champagne reception in the bar in the evening with the owner informing us about the history of the hotel and area. We look forward to the keepsake photo that is taken of us and still have out photos. Every year we meet lovely guests to chat to in the bar and we look forward to our next trip.

Stayed here in January 2025 for two nights just after New Year's. Fantastic hotel! Where to begin... so cozy, very homely feel to the place, staff are incredible (really friendly, very good service). The food is so nice here, I had the black pudding starter one night and the calamari another night. For main course I had the beef, so nice, literally falling off the fork, cooked really nicely. Also, one of my favourite things they serve here is the champagne sorbet, which is delicious and a beautiful pallet cleanser between starter and main course. Another thing is the service is excellent here, did not have to wait long at all for any of our food (unlike some other places!). As for our room, it was really comfortable. I loved the carpet. The mattress was lovely, and my bed was very cozy. We had a lovely view of the gardens and of Clifden Town. The room was at a perfect temperature, not too hot, not too cold. I got two very good night's sleep. The best thing about this hotel, however is the craic and the ceol that takes place here every night! There's a lovely, intimate bar downstairs with a gorgeous turf fire. Before dinner the owner will give an interesting talk about the history of the hotel and of Clifden itself. After dinner we headed down to the bar, and what a lovely surprise to find one of the hotel's owners sitting at the piano (which was a nice baby grand, btw) and singing! This is something that you don't find in many hotels in Ireland. We were up till all hours, having the best craic ever! This was my second time staying in this hotel, and I'll definitely be back. I would highly recommend this place if you're planning on visiting Clifden, and if you're not... well you should, just to experience the Abbeyglen at least once!!

This little gem in the heart of Connemara is a rare find. Seeped with history, comfortable rooms and beds, spotlessly clean with friendly staff and owner. The food was very good with a great choice for all tastes. Music in the bar was good fun with everyone encouraged to join in. Unfortunately due to weather alerts and fears for being stranded we had to shorten our stay. The hotel refunded us which was very commendable. It was not their fault the weather had affected plans. I highly recommend this hotel , for a relaxing get away, friendly staff and excellent customer service.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Abbeyglen Castle Hotel. We were warmly greeted at reception by the owner, who provided us with champagne in the evening along with fascinating insights into the castle's history. Our dinner experience was delightful, complemented by engaging entertainment, and the breakfast was truly exceptional. We also appreciated the atmosphere of the piano bar following dinner. Our accommodations were outstanding and beautifully suited to the castle's character.

Spent one night here and it was amazing from start to finish. Hotel has superb food and an amazing atmosphere. The little extras they go above and beyond with and loved them all. If you are traveling the wild Atlantic way you should definitely stay and get pampered . Or if just local treat yourself you will not regret it.
