Hotel le Colombier

Colmar|0.13km from Quai de la Poissonnerie
To start, the hotel is in a perfect location - steps from Little Venice with lots of restaurants, wine bars, sites within a 10 min walk. The rooms (in the suite across the street) were also a good size - which was great for my 4 night stay. That being said, for the price there were definitely some things that you should be aware of. As the previous reviewer mentioned, some rooms - especially in the suites across the street - did not have an elevator. This was not communicated ahead of time so is a bit difficult if you have larger luggage. I booked my room at Le Colombier, but was given a room at Le Colombier Suites. Luckily i'm in decent physical condition so lugging my bags up and down wasn't the worst for me. Additionally, while the room itself was nice, there were some aspects which I didn't like - for one, the toilet was completely seperated from the shower/sink area - in a completely isolated part of the suite (i couldn't even find it when i first checked in, i had to call and ask where it was). Again, not a huge deal but when you use the restroom in the middle of the night and have to walk around in the dark looking for the toilet and then walking all the way to the other side to wash hands, it's not ideal. Second, there were spiders in my room. I killed 2 during my stay - I wish I had taken photos to show them, but was too freaked out when I saw them to look for my phone. I know its an older building so there will be some bugs, but again for the price this was pretty frustrating. And finally, (this may seem small to some people but was impt to me), I booked this hotel because they said there was a gym. Which is true, there's a ”gym” but its literally 2 machines, in a space smaller than my hotel room. And it was in a 3rd building, two streets away from my room. Again, not the end of the world but was just very inconvenient and not communicated appropriately ahead of time. Overall, I would give this hotel another chance because of the location and room size, but definitely a few things to keep in mind.

We stayed here as a stop-over on our drive from Calais to Lake Como. Colmar was somewhere my husband had always wanted to visit and this hotel was a lovely place to stay. We arrived tired after 7 hours on the road, and the hotel warmly welcomed us and quickly directed us to a super convenient place to park 5 minutes walk down the street (we hadn’t booked parking so didn’t expect to park at the hotel itself). The four of us stayed (2 adults, 2 teenagers) stayed in one room which was a pretty good size, an executive suite, with the children on a fold out bed. The bathroom was modern, with a good shower and nice that the toilet was located separately. We ate breakfast at the hotel and also enjoyed a drink at the bar in the evening. Breakfast was busy but had a great selection of buffet options which pleased all the different tastes of our family. The hotel is about a 10 minute easy walk from where the central restaurants and old houses are located. We liked this as meant it was slightly quieter than being right in the middle. Colmar itself was certainly very beautiful, though I confess we didn’t love it quite as much as we thought we would as it was heaving with tourists and we also found it very challenging to find a restaurant with space that offered vegetarian options for our son. If we were to return we would certainly book ahead for food - we knew it would be busy of course being a weekend in the summer holidays, but have never been anywhere in France (including many summer weekends) where we struggled to get a table - lesson learned! But great hotel, and would certainly recommend the hotel to other travellers.

Ibis Budget Colmar Centre-Ville

The staff could not find our booking, neither with name nor with confirmation number. We said we booked with trip.com. We had confirmation mail and login to trip.com with confirmation. We then waited about 20 minutes until the reception staff came to us and thought he had found the booking, we had given him wrong information, we had booked with ”niki-travel”. But instead of making the check-in and giving a room card, the staff was saluting at the holiday evening. We had to stand back in the waiting line behind about 20 guests for check-in with the new staff. Not very customer friendly.

This is a very good house. It is an old house. It used to be the local mayor. There are 105 people on it! 🥰 It is now one of the must-see attractions in Colmar! Everyone must pass by to watch the show! And it is a Michelin-starred restaurant! There are years of history and culture, and the service is very good. On the day of the check-in, we received the door to the front desk, explained the project, and sent the cake! The video was taken in the morning to open the window! Feel the experience of fried chicken sticks! The location is not far from the entrance to the Old Town of Colmar!

Wife and I were here for 2 nights in Nov. The hotel was located just 2 blocks from the train station. It was an easy straight walk to get here. Our check in process was friendly and simple. We were given a wonderfully decorated room with plenty of space. Our room was clean and comfortable, bathroom amenities were pretty good with a nice hair dryer. WiFi worked great through out our stay. From the hotel we were able to walk to everything we needed to see in Colmar. There was also a Monoprix just about a 6 minute walk from the hotel which was convenient. The kitchen area serves all day drinks that was included (coffee & tea) which was nice. The kitchen also has plenty of plates and cups and utensils which we used every night to have dinner. Staffs were all masked up and they checked our Pass Sanitaire. We were here during the time when there were Xmas Market shuttles for all the small towns around Colmar leaving from in front of the train station. We utilized it for Equisheim and Turckheim. Breakfast was wonderful here every morning with lots of options. The hotel was pricey, I am glad the price matched the amenities and services. The hotel kept saying they didn't pre-charge me for the tourist tax before hand. but no matter what I do to convert the charges that was charged 6 days before arrival. The prices just don't line up, and it was roughly the 5 Euros tourist tax. I paid it anyways since 5 Euros isn't worth the time to argue. When we got home, my bank told me the total price in Euros they charged which included the tourist tax. So, I suppose they over charged me by 5 Euros, oh well. Somewhere there was either a mistake or miscommunication. Overall it was a wonderful hotel and we had 2 great night sleep. We will be back again.

We enjoyed Primo Hotel a lot as a family of four because it’s location makes walks through Colmar easily possible. The hotel has everything go need, even air condition, hair dryer and parking is available on public streets.

The almost complete lack of facilities makes this hotel more of a B&B than a four star hotel. The hotel advertised itself as having a bar which is barely true and seem to consist only of a wine vending machine a few tables and chairs. We sadly chose a ‘suite’ in an annex across the road only to find ourselves at the top of two flights of stairs (no lift) in a pokey loft room unwisely divided into two rooms to fit the definition of a suite. Bearing in mind we paid over €260 per night for this room and we’re in regional France, we were not happy. Our unhappiness was compounded by virtually non existent WiFi and an appalling breakfast set up. We arrived for a late breakfast to find every free table covered with other people’s remains. The breakfast offering was more two star than four star with poor coffee, messy jam jars and only two items of hot food. This hotel does not warrant the cost. You’d be better off in the local Ibis.

Location is excellent. Everything else is sub par. The internet never worked in our room despite repeated assurances that it should. The heating in our room didn't function. We had to insist they bring in an electric space heater for us. The breakfast was not very good, - no eggs of any kind, no fresh fruit, lots of guests who brought their dogs in with them to the dining room. I would save your money and look for a different hotel. Definitely did not find this one to be one I'd recommend to a friend.
