Maspalomas Princess

To begin with, the place is very clean, and beautifully furnished. Our room was spacious and modern. With a good sized tv and nice washroom facilities. Theres plenty of lovely pools to choose from that cater for all needs, and more than enough sun-beds for all. That aside, I think there’s a lot of finer details that mean this hotel doesn’t meet the 4 star rating it claims to hold. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable, and the pillows paper thin. There are no coffee making facilities in the room which I think is madness - I really struggled having to wait until I got down to the restaurant for breakfast. The air con is also pretty poor, in the bedrooms and throughout the hotel. Around a lot of the pool areas is what they call a “man made beach”, but it’s very thick and gravelly. Making it extremely uncomfortable to stand on. The stuff spreads everywhere too, including in the pool. I don’t understand what possessed them to use that stuff because everyone I came across complained about it. You also aren’t allowed inflatables - I think this is because the staff are too stretched to safely man the pool properly. Not good enough for a 4 star hotel! The buffet is average buffet food, nothing special. The staff were clearly in a rush, and some not as friendly as others. It’s a huge place and on our first visit we were seated and left to figure it all out on our own. I was a little disappointed in the selection for children, i’d have expected a few staples every night (chicken nuggets, plain pasta etc), but they were infrequent and difficult to come by. There is also consistently queues for the buffet at breakfast and dinner, and they often run out of glasses and bowls - something I’d expect as a bare minimum, let alone for a 4 star hotel. The AI drink selection was poor. The machines were often out of service, particularly the juices which again means young children were not well catered for. I’m also not impressed with the lunch time food/snack options, considering it’s all inclusive. We still had a nice time, it’s not a terrible place at all. But for the price we paid I’d have expected those finishing touches to all be there. I think they need to invest in few improvements, and recruit the extra staff that the place needs…or advertise as a 3 star.

This hotel had everything we could want for a family holiday with young children. I think if you want a quiet holiday and don’t have kids I would avoid school holidays. Kids pool had 4 flumes, need to be 1.2m to use or have to go down with an adult and a shallow area for younger kids which was great. Shame they only had deck chairs around this pool but assume due to lack of space. Kids club was a little chaotic, 49 kids one day but once I embraced this I was really impressed and my kids loved it and made loads of difference things. The staff were so enthusiastic and welcoming every day. Foam party was so much fun! They also fully embraced Halloween, such a good evening. Food was really varied, it was busy with lots of young children and during half term you had to queue for pancakes but staff worked very efficiently to keep things moving and replenish food. Help yourself drinks were great, beer, sangria on tap and cava in ice buckets. Being 2 hotels joined you had so many different areas, quiet gardens, adults only pool and bar, baby pool etc. not much near the hotel, but if you walk 25mins you hit the beach with loads going on and taxi back was 5euros. only downside was some of the staff, mainly reception were not overly friendly but I would still return and highly recommend.
