The Deluxe room we were allocated was possibly the worst view you could get for the most expensive price you could pay. We were allocated a room ( 210) directly opposite the lifts and in the room out view consisted of overlooking a persons apartment and as they were having drinks on the balcony and we were maybe 2metres away from that building there was zero privacy . The curtains were very fine materiel so in order to have some distance between us and them we were forced to keep the heavy drapes closed all day and night . This made the small room very claustrophobic, the windows don’t appear to be doubled glazed so on the lower levels you can hear the bins being emptied and the general rough and tumble of the lower laneways and the residents in the adjacent building having late night drinks . When we enquired about moving rooms we were offered a room two doors down . The annoying thing was they said they were fully booked so there was no rooms on higher floors we could move too . A quick check on Wotif revealed that there were actually rooms available that you could book so there were vacancies , but l guess it was better to hold them open to get top dollar rather than to accommodate current guests who’d paid upfront 2months prior . I would have moved current guests who had a legitimate concern if it had been me making the decision as a gesture of support, but l guess they weren’t to concerned because we’d paid already but that type of contempt for guests who chose to stay in good faith wears thin . Not a pleasant stay wouldn’t recommend and will be happy for a refund !

City Edge East Melbourne Apartment Hotel

Excellent location just a short walk from North Richmond train station. Very friendly and helpful reception. Apartment was spacious and in good condition with all the normal amenities, and excellent heating on what was one of Melbourne’s coldest nights for the year, although the living room furniture is getting a little old. The only negative was that the guests directly upstairs partied late and then got up very early, a problem because there’s almost no soundproofing between floors.

We as a family have been coming to stay here for 8 years or so now. Since there has been a change of hands from the previous owners there has been quite a considerable decline in the level of service provided. For breakfast there were no egg cups for hard boiled eggs, my mum who is in her 60s commented that they brought out hot breakfast options after we had pretty much already finished our breakfast. Short on linen in rooms, no face washers provided. The hair dryer in our room didn't work but luckily there was a spare one. There was a missing towel rack on the back of the bathroom door. There is free parking which is a bonus. So all included, twin room for the night, breakfast and complimentary parking

Great location, easy walking distance to Bridge Road. Room was clean, bed was comfy. My own issue was the parking. Limited parking on site and you have to pre-book. No chance of finding a spot in the local area as it's either permit parking or a 1 hour limit. You may be lucky after 630pm. I had to park around 10 minute walk away down a residential street that had free parking after 6pm. But had to get back there by 7.30am before the parking permit rule kicked in. Value for money great.
Comfort Hotel East Melbourne

Although my Dayuse booking said from 2.00pm to 9.00pm, the Comfort Hotel East Melbourne REFUSED TO LET ME STAY IN THE ROOM for the full extent of my booking. After a very confusing argument at check-in, they told me I could stay until 8.00pm, so I agreed and paid. But then at 7.00pm HOUSEKEEPING ENTERED THE ROOM and when they saw I was still there, they brought the woman from reception to INSISTENTLY KNOCK MY DOOR and tell me that I could only be there until 7.00pm!!! SO THEY KICKED ME OUT WHILE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A MEETING BEFORE THE AGREED AND ALREADY REDUCED CHECKOUT TIME, AND KEEP MY MONEY FOR A SERVICE THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE TO THE FULLEST??? I FELT SOOO TRICKED!! THAT WAS NOT OK!! The rooms are clean and nice. The location is great as well. I am just ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED by the way they managed my reservation.

The hotel is very good, if you are going to Melbourne to participate in the marathon, it is a very good choice, 7:00 in the morning, 6:00 out will not be nervous, the hotel is a few minutes walk from the start and end. The hotel is equipped with a refrigerator, washing machine, microwave, bread machine, kettle, not suitable for Melbourne food, you can go to the supermarket opposite the Federation Square (about 1000 meters from the hotel) to buy ingredients to process your own food. In all respects, this hotel is very good, there is a very large and very beautiful park in front of the hotel.

Unsafe and awful experience. After returning from getting some dinner my swipe card let me in to reception (8.16pm as reception closes at 8). It did not, however, let me into the door leading to the hallway where my room was. After contacting the AHS number I was told there was a 45-50 minute wait for security to arrive. After waiting 50 minutes I called again and was told that security had been diverted to ‘something important’ and would be another 10-15 minutes. 20 minutes later, security arrived and his master swipe was also unable to get me into the hallway. After multiple calls, where I was told that they were attempting to contact a hotel manager ‘but none where answering’, I was placed on long holds multiple times. Finally in frustration, 2 hours later, I banged loudly on the door and another guest opened it from the inside. She also had been unable to get in, but luckily was staying with someone else who was able to open the door for her. This was unsafe and an absolutely appalling response to what was an issue with the hotel, not the guest. I would strongly advise others not to stay here.
