Sycuan Casino Resort

I have lived in San Diego for over 25 years and finally stayed at the Sycuan Hotel that is on the grounds of the ******. I was given a complimentary stay of two nights in a deluxe king room and decided to go and get out of town for a couple days. At arrival into the room my first impression was that it was nice enough with warmish tones. The room was clean and standard for the price. Soon after, I noticed my room window opened up only about three feet and rest of the wall was concrete. They try to upsell you to a balcony room, but I guess that means a full-size window too. I had asked for a quiet room, and although I was given a room near the stairwell, I was also given a room on the valet and street side. I could hear the buses coming and going throughout the late night even at six stories up. The bed was okay, a little on the firm side, but their pillows are not supportive . They are those down-alternative pillows and when you put your head on them your head just sinks right to the bed. So my neck was really sore after the first night. If you're a side-sleeper you know what I mean. They should invest in some better, more supportive pillows. I also got cold in the night since the blanket is pretty flimsy. Another con was that they don't have a coffee maker in the room. I mean, come on, even the Motel 6 has a coffee maker. They give you two cheap plastic cups though to keep you in check (just like the Motel 6) and four tiny water bottles. I guess they want you to go downstairs and fork over six bucks for a morning coffee each day. They also have a reminder of how much each item in the hotel costs, should you decide to steal it. I was reminded that I was in El Cajon with that. Let's talk about emergencies...There is an emergency alarm and smoke detector up high toward the ceiling. The upper apparatus pulses a bright light continuously every 20 seconds or so . I swear the thing would shine through my closed eyelids if I was turned to face that wall while trying to fall asleep with the uncomfortable pillows. And speaking of emergencies, the hotel tripped some emergency alert drill at 7:45 AM the first morning I was there. It squelched loudly in each room several times and blurted ”There is an emergency in the hotel! Exit the hotel and do not take the elevators!” Maybe not word for word but it was something like that. Either way it was not pleasant and the lady across from me said it woke her up from the deepest sleep she'd had in months. Turns out it was just a test or something. False alarm or hotel routine testing, management needs to inquire into that episode. You actually had lots of guest making their way down the stairwells in the entire hotel to go outside in the cold first thing in the morning. So that's my review. I don't think I'll ever go back to that hotel, or that ******. The ****** has weak payouts on all of their video poker games (could not find a single 9-6 payout on Jacks or Better), the pit bosses don't give you comps for fo

I’ve stayed at this hotel several times while visiting family in the area. Decent hotels aren’t easy to find in this area. This place was the best I could find for a somewhat reasonable rate. This time around I stayed for three nights and noticed how it’s gotten far too dirty to be acceptable. The bed and linens were fine but the couch needed a serious cleaning. The carpet was vacuumed but it desperately needed a good steam cleaning. The hotel manager really should take a look in the rooms from time to time to make sure dirt and stains are being cleaned. There was cockroach on the bathroom floor on one of my midnight bathroom visits. I wore sandals from then on while in the room. I realize cockroaches can be anywhere but it was still a little alarming. The parking lot can be just plain ridiculous at times. The lot behind the hotel backs right up to a homeless encampment so I didn’t feel comfortable parking back there. The front parking lot gets inundated from customers going to the Inn N Out burger drive thru next door from late afternoon until well into the evening. The endless stream of cars block the parking spaces so it’s extremely difficult to park at this time of day. Three nights cost $710 for just one person! That’s far too much money for the reasons listed above! I won’t be back if things don’t improve. On a positive note, the front entrance staff was great. They were all very warm and welcoming! The bed and pillows were very comfortable. They also have breakfast which was fine and good coffee which was appreciated!

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times. The atmosphere around the hotel is ok. There is a Jack in the box, a bank,The Golden Coral,a car dealer, a local store, and numerous places to eat at within 2 blocks. The gas station/store is open 24 hours in within walking distance. I frequently stay at this hotel,I have health issues, and the staff accommodates me very well. I always have clean linen, the water pressure to take a shower has been very adequate. The maids come and clean every other day. My 2 dogs love it when we stay at this location.I stay to myself and very rarely do I get bothered by anyone. The management staff are very helpful and friendly. The hotel maintenance is quick to fix any problems that may arise. The maids ,I have always received excellent service. Even if they seem to be having a rough day they will give you a smile. I frequently utilize the service at the hotel. Very pet friendly. I would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay. The check-in and check-out processes were efficient , and the front desk staff were courteous. Navigation to the room was straightforward due to the property's manageable size. Although the room had a slight residual smell of smoke, the staff accommodated my request for a non -smoking room by having me sign a form. While there was a minor issue with towel replenishment , the staff readily assisted when requested. Despite the hotel's location outside the city center, convenient motorway connections facilitated easy access to key attractions. Overall, it's a suitable choice for those seeking comfortable accommodations without luxury amenities. The bed Wi-Fi, and breakfast met my basic needs satisfactorily .
