Hotels Near Tourist Island in El Cotillo

We stayed here in August of this year and had an absolutely fabulous time. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Yes the beds and quite hard, but surely that’s personal preference? The food was your standard all inclusive fair, which could get repetitive, but I find that everywhere. The staff were always very friendly, especially the entertainment team. We did have to get up early to put towels on sun loungers, but this is because we wanted pool side beds to watch our girls. We loved it so much that we have just booked to go back May of next year! Count down is ON!

Sceptical from reading others reviews but honestly a really good hotel, pool was small but never had a problem getting a sunbed at different times of the days, life guard on duty at all times, cheap vending machine was a life saver when we arrived really late at night, location is close to a supermarket, beautiful views from the rooftop terrace. The terrace can provide food and drinks Wednesday to Sunday all day , the music was amazing on the terrace and if you’re into parties, make sure you go on Saturday nights because wow. Locals in the area are lovely. The hotel is located 5-10 minute walk from the music square and other places to eat and drink. We had a small room so we made our space work, only downfall was the size of the shower, just enough room to stand let alone lather some soap on your legs wouldn’t say the decor was dated but could maybe do with some tweaking from maintenance (shower handle was a bit delicate & missing a door frame in bed room) but honestly would recommend staying here, it’s clean, staff are friendly. We couldn’t comment on the breakfast as we didn’t have any here. Drinks are reasonably priced at the roof top aswell if anyone is wondering. For the price we paid we couldn’t complain, thank you to all the staff❤️

From the moment arriving at the reception at Playa Park Zensation where the staff were very welcoming and friendly I could tell it was going to be a fantastic stay. We arrived before our room was ready however the friendly receptionist put our bags in a room and gave us our wristbands so we could start our holiday. Walking out to the main area we were greeted by Gino and Milen putting on activities for guests which we got involved in straight away and were made to feel welcome not just by them but fellow guests as well. When our room was ready the receptionist called our phone to let us know so didn't keep going to check which was great. The drink options were really good with alot of premium drinks included in the package. The bar and restaurant staff were 5 star giving exceptional service and always with a smile. The rooms were fantastic which were cleaned each day to a high standard. We stayed in the Zensation block which led to the infinity pool upstairs and the spa down stairs. The Spa was really nice and relaxing and the spa staff were very friendly as well. Food was exceptional the whole week with plenty of choice to suit everyone. The a la carte restaurant was very nice with table service and was a nice change from the restaurant which we enjoyed on two of the nights. My steak was cooked to perfection. Entertainment was fantastic with Milen and Gino doing games in the morning and then quiz and bingo in the evening. The evening entertainment which was varied with entertainment by the poolside followed by a act inside later in the evening. It was sad to be leaving and have already said will be going back next year as it was exceptional. There is so much more I could write as this hotel deserves all the credit it receives. We also found a great sports bar 5 mins from the hotel who showed a variety of matches and hosted a great bingo afternoon on Tuesday.

My girlfriend and I have just booked again for March 2025 after such a fantastic stay earlier on this year. After arriving early evening we checked in and headed straight to the onsite bar which had a great ambience and reasonably priced drinks. Strongly recommend visiting, especially on karaoke night. What a hoot! We then headed up to our one bedroom apartment which was very clean, bright and spacious. We were over the moon. Next morning we headed for the pool and managed to secure two sunbeds in a lovely spot quite close to the pool bar. After sunning ourselves for a while we visited the onsite supermarket for the essentials. Fantastic addition to the apartments as we expected it to be expensive but that certainly wasn’t the case. Thoroughly enjoyable stay and we must mention the restaurant above the reception. Staff very attentive and the food was second to none. We both chose pork in blue cheese sauce and both of us agreed it was the best meal of our week long holiday. Don’t be put off by the lower price tag. We can’t wait to return next year and are counting down the days.

We had a few issues with the villa on arrival. One off the doors wouldn't close or lock properly and maintenance weren't able to fix. I was told no other villas available just a larger bungalow at extra cost. I was also told they could do nothing until the following day and expected us to stay in a villa with a door which wouldn't lock or close properly. I was obviously not going to accept that and fortunately they managed to get the door to lock from the inside until it was fixed the following day. The shower flooded on our arrival and maintenance had to unblock the drain. The design of the on suite shower is a joke. The basin isn't deep enough and water escapes and makes the bathroom soaking wet. The outside light bulb had gone and I was not given the safe card at reception when I checked. Just annoying when you just arrive with the family and want to relax. We waited in Baileys Bar for hrs until they finally gave us the keys after 4PM. We had lunch at Baileys, they only gave us the expensive menu and did not make us aware off the lunch time menu which we only discovered later on. Even after I mentioned this to the owner ”Bailey” it happened again. My kids preferred the lunch time offerings and it was a lot cheaper. It was a shame as otherwise Baileys is an ok place to drink and eat. The pools were ok but need maintenance, tiles falling off. the whole place needs a make over. We had a car and I am glad we did, I used the larger Hippo supermarket in Playa Blanca which was fine for the essentials. The smaller Hippo Express were more expensive. We liked Playa Blanca, lots off restaurants. We esp liked it a around the Rubicon Marina and surrounding area. Some nice Tapas restaurants. The weather was random, cloudy in the mornings and sunny in the afternoons, also it could get v windy which was annoying. There was no option for late checkout or early check in, even after asking weeks in adv. Strange as a lot off villas were empty. Would we go again to JDS? Maybe once its been done up.

We have just returned from a 10 day family holiday at dreams. We had a room overlooking the kids slide pool and stayed on an All Inclusive basis. The hotel is stunning and is refurbished to a very high standard. The lobby and communal areas are beautiful & have a very luxurious feel. Our room was perfect for us - clean & comfortable. Rooms are cleaned daily to a good standard and the mini bar is replenished with drinks daily. The beds and linens are very comfortable - we slept really well our entire trip. Small gripe we weren’t given towels 2 days but we were able to order them on the app to be delivered to our room. The food in the hotel does vary in terms of quality. Breakfast in the world cafe is great - plenty of options to choose from and generally something for everyone. To be honest I can’t really say the same about lunch and dinner in the buffet, we only had dinner once and lunch once, and neither time were we impressed much. The coco cafe is a lovely alternative if you don’t mind a lighter lunch or some cake/coffee instead. They do a great caramel frappe and they also have some really yummy ice creams - our daughter loved it there. The A La Carte restaurants are much better , although again standards vary. Our favourite was Portofino closely followed by The Bluewater Grill. The asparagus & Iberian ham soup is gorgeous! Sabor had great starters and desserts but the mains were a little hit & miss. Himitsu was a bit of a let down for us. We stayed at Dreams in the Caribbean and Himitsu was our favourite, however my husband had a green seafood curry that was neither green nor curry. He said it was like drinking a salty soup. The chocolate dessert again wasn’t great, not a 5* offering. My main feedback or hopefully constructive criticism would be lack of consistency. I ordered the same dish two nights in a row - first night amazing - second night just ok. We also had a few occasions where we ordered the same thing but they came out looking different. Or dishes advertised as containing certain ingredients but arriving without.If things could just be a bit more consistent it would really improve the experience. One of my favourite things about the hotel is the staff. I’ve got to say that whilst there were times I could see that they need more, the ones that are there are incredibly hard working, passionate and professional. We were treated like family from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. I’d like to give a special mention to Maria & Sarah at the kids club who were great with our little girl. Victoria at the Marlin bar who helped me practice my Spanish - she’s a gem! Hugo & Denisa on the entertainment team - so much fun and laughter had with these two. And in the restaurants Aaron, Gorka & Marcos always made us feel so welcome and taken care of. And of course Daniel - every hotel should have a Daniel he is just so lovely and makes your guest experience very special. Our daughter was delighted every time she saw him. O
