We have visited Lusty Beg many times over the years and I just realised I have never written a review! Lusty Beg is our home from home. Our children have been going with us from they were very young and are now young adults. Lusty Beg never ever disappoints us. From the beautiful surroundings to the fabulous staff at reception, the spa and in the restaurant you will not be disappointed. We have made so many unforgettable memories at lusty beg and we can’t wait to return again soon this time bringing our 4 legged new addition to the family.

We had a lovely Sunday Lunch, walk, drinks here. Staff could not have been kinder especially the young gentleman operating the ferry, very accommodating to our disabled party member which meant a lot. Waiting staff were obviously ran off their feet but accommodating and helpful. Food was excellent. Children with parents and dogs but that added to the cozy feel.

A surprise Christmas present! Lusty Beg did not disappoint. Due to the stormy weather we had to leave our car in the car park. The boat crossing took less than a couple of minutes and after a short distance we were in the warmth of reception. Check-in was smooth and the staff both helpful and friendly. Our room was located in one of the cottages to front and right of reception. The room was quiet, cozy and welcoming it had a wet room with toilet and handbasin. Towels, shower gel and soap was provided. TV, tea/coffee making facilities and a hairdryer was available also. Afternoon tea was included in our stay. We had it in the front area adjacent to the bar. Both fires were lit which created a warm, relaxing atmosphere. The Afternoon tea was amazing . We couldn't eat another thing so opted for a cocktail each (Lusty Lady and Bombay Bramble). Would definitely recommend both afternoon tea and cocktails! We had a light dinner later of chicken burger with chips and chilli prawns with sourdough. Absolutely delicious and reasonably priced! We completed the evening by listening to wonderful music in the bar which suited all tastes. A buffet hot/cold breakfast was provided the next morning. It was very pleasing. I would definitely recommend and hope to return in the future.

Studio cabins are class. Heated, full kitchenette, brilliant shower, WiFi, comfortable double bed, spacious, amazing view! Dinner wasn’t madly priced. Breakfast buffet was fresh! Staff all very nice. This is Northern Ireland in a nutshell!

The Good: The ferry over was ideal, didn’t have to wait at all. We were also able to check in an hour early and the man at reception was very pleasant. The cabin was lovely and cosy, with the heat blasting which was very welcome. We were able to enjoy the views the following morning when the weather improved. Can’t fault the food. Vegan sausage rolls were unreal. Had both lunch and dinner. Although it was pricey (£18.50 for lasagne). The Bad: We read online that there were two specific time slots when children were welcomed to the pool so we booked outside of those times. When we got to the ‘spa’, the pool was full of children, so much so we couldn’t even attempt a swim. We left after 5 minutes. We found it so odd that there was no sauna, steam room or jacuzzi on site, given that it’s advertised as a spa. We had previously seen hot tubs in photos on the website. Since we now had 3 hours to kill before dinner we tried out the nature walk which was also a let down. It took us approx 20 minutes to walk out and back and there didn’t seem to be any other routes to explore as they were cordoned off for clay pigeon shooting and off road 4x4 driving. The wooden jetties down at the lake were also incredibly slippy so couldn’t walk out on them either. We had also been looking forward to going to the little thatch pub for a drink but found out at dinner that it wouldn’t be open again until April. Maybe we picked a bad time of year to visit but for the price we paid we felt there were no amenities to use and could have got an airbnb with a hot tub for much less.

We’re just back from a weekend stay in a chalet cabin. What we LOVED: -View from cabin was beautiful!! -Bedrooms were clean, good size -Cabin was warm, heating was great -Large enough to accommodate all our family -Time spent together -Fireplace ( bring fire starters, logs etc), dishwasher, cooking facilities -The ferry across- takes minutes, but makes it feel like you’re ’going somewhere secluded’ - Check-in was quick, man on reception was pleasant. -Dogs are permitted on island ( although not in our cabin, even though there were claw marks on bathroom door?!) What could have been better: -The one shower in cabin was stuck on extreme hot, making it unusable. (There was a bath available!) -Cabins would benefit from a small outdoor light so we could see which was ours when we arrived at 4pm in December. -Cabin windows and doors leaked in bad weather. -Would have been nice to get a courtesy call during v bad storm ( would have shown exceptional customer service!) -There’s no phone or any local information in cabin. We needed to ring the hotels main phone number to ask for more bowls, toilet rolls and towels. -Only one fire log provided, although we were there for 3 days. (More can be purchased at £3.50 per log) -Swimming pool area was dirty and cold. No staff member present at reception area when we attended. -Steam room, sauna and outdoor jacuzzi are no longer available. (We did not have any treatments) -Small and unkempt changing room ( one room for men/women), cobwebs, used towels and robes everywhere and dirt on floors. -Tv in cabin didn’t work, ariel cable was broken and shoved into TV, possible fire hazard? Discovered this on our last day. -No wifi in cabin -We were expecting more of a Christmas atmosphere- cabin would have benefitted from a touch of ’sparkle’- Perhaps even a Christmas tree to really give it an extra special feel. -Restaurant was expensive. Food and drinks, average. -We were there for a big birthday, had emailed and rang ahead regarding this, but there was no mention of this upon check-in/ at restaurant (although we did receive a plate with a chocolate ‘happy birthday’ written on it). I suppose I’m saying customer service could have been improved. -Customers are spending a lot of money to stay and eat here, we want to feel that our stay is ‘special’ Would I stay again? While I LOVED being able to spend quality time with my family at Lusty Beg, it was comfortable and the views are stunning, I think I would opt for a private Airbnb house with a hot tub for our next family getaway to get a more ‘special’ feel. That being said, most of which I’ve mentioned above could be easily achieved should staff wish, so there’s hope yet.

Stayed for weekend in lodge .well equipped with kitchen appliances . We had a leak in the bedroom which resulted in a puddle stretching to middle of floor, also a leak in living room . Floors were extremely dirty in lodge .Bar/restaurant very unkempt.A dog was at a dining table with paws resting on it, also dogs on fireside chairs in bar area. While I'm happy for dogs to be there rules should be put in place . Kids were throwing cushions off furniture having a cushion fight. No member of staff intervened in any of these issues . Food on floor in bar/restaurant hadn't been cleaned . Very disappointed at this visit . Staff friendly but I do not class it as 4 star .and prices too high for accommodation.
