Courtyard by Marriott Fukui opened at the same time as the Shinkansen line opened, and we had a very comfortable stay.
■Good points
Excellent location. Close to Fukui Station, easy access from the Shinkansen line, and a tram stop right in front of the hotel, making it an ideal base for sightseeing.
All rooms are on high floors above the 17th floor, so the view is great, and you can see Fukui city and the distant mountains.
The stylish room amenities make you feel like you're staying in a good hotel.
A wide variety of meals are available in the commercial facility on the first floor. This time we had Fukui soba and sushi. They were all delicious and I'd like to come again.
■Bad points
If you don't upgrade the room grade, you won't get a room with a bathtub. This time I stayed in a corner king, but most of the lower grade rooms only have showers. I think this would be a harsh review for Japanese people.
It was a bit of a hassle to get to the front desk, as you had to change escalators many times. I wish there was an elevator that went directly to the front desk. At least I couldn't find one.
