Hotel Santiago de Compostela - Guadalajara Centro Historico

Zona Centro Guadalajara|0.61km from Ex Convento Del Carmen
This pretentious hotel is all show, no go. Only in an alternate reality can this be a 4-star hotel! Yes, the facade is impressive, and the lobby with the working elevator are nice. But once you get to your double room, you realize it's a dark, and musty, cave-like space with no fresh air because the only window faces an inner courtyard that is covered. There is mold on the stucco ceiling (see the dark spots in the attached photo, sorry for the resolution). The bathroom is so cramped you cannot use the toilet with the way the garbage bin was placed by the careless cleaning staff (see attached photos). Speaking of the cleaning staff, I found a long, dark hair on the bed sheets (photo attached), definitely the wrong length and color to be mine. The worst issue I encountered beside the fact I felt like I was suffocating from the lack of fresh air, was that the shower wouldn't drain properly, and you'd end up standing in filthy water. There was very little toilet paper provided (less than half roll) and by the time I was out, it was too late and inconvenient to go down at reception and ask for more. While I was there, there were hardly any other guests in the hotel, so it was relatively quiet, but every small noise is amplified by the architectural design of having an inner courtyard covered (in Morocco, the same architecture has the inner courtyard uncovered, so the air and noise are not trapped). You could also hear the church bells, and traffic noises. The A/C works, but it's limited by central WiFi controls, and I froze during the January night I was there, with no blanket other than a polyesther bed spread. After only one night, I couldn't wait to get out of there! There is a central hostel that literally offers better amenities than this so-called 4-stars hotel (you can look for my reviews to find out which one). The best thing this hotel offers is luggage storage: it's safe, and they give you a ticket, so it's more secure. The staff was nice enough, especially Gloria at the reception desk, who is kind and helpful. IMPORTANT NOTE: The rating of this hotel here is skewed by the numerous 5-star reviews for the famous Cathedral ”Santiago de Compostela” in Spain, placed in the WRONG listing!

DoubleTree by Hilton Guadalajara Centro Historico

The hotel is in the historic center. Outside the restaurant on the 7th floor, you can see the church and the square next to the hotel. I did n’t know that the square was a place where many people would check in. The hotel is at Expo Guadalajara: A taxi takes about 13-15 minutes (with smooth traffic) and costs less than 150 pesos. Our flight arrived early in the morning, contacted the hotel in advance, and booked the car in advance by email via the hotel mailbox notified by Ctrip, and informed the flight number, number of people, baggage number, and arrival time The hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport. The 7-seat car we booked costs about 750 pesos. Tip 5 [%]-10 [%] if possible Hotel towels are worn out, it is best to bring your own towels. No toothpaste, toothbrush, or shower gel. Passengers are required to bring their own toiletries. There are small pieces of soap, shampoo ... Meal is on the 7th floor. The buffet breakfast is not suitable for Chinese taste. I eat eggs, fruits and toast for several days. Dinner is not cheap.

The Hotel Olga Cariada is in a very nice house, from the beginning of the 20th century, which maintains its original architectural style and has a charming patio: it was the first good impression that led me to decide to rent a private room for a month. I was very soon in the reality, but the place was clean in the boxes, with a dirty old age. There were some tinting clothing hooks, all sticked so used; the television served though well to well only one channel could be seen; the soap was too small and the bed was completely swallowed on one side. The patio is beautiful, but as nothing protects it from the sun or rain, I had to spend time in common areas that are frankly horrible. The furniture is old (old, not “retro”). The chairs were broken, with the dirty filling out everywhere and the chairs slew. The worst was the cloth that, for days, kept the same sauce and others in the same The manager is a good salesman, but once he gets the money, he is very little attentive (as shows, the aggressive way he has to respond to negative criticisms). The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable and it is very comfortable and very comfortable.

It came to 10am and they told me that at the moment it was not available because they were cleaning them, I went to the waiting room to be called and it was 1pm, I approached to ask and the girl tells me that they still haven't available, I tell you I have I'm listening and watching that they've already passed to four pairs before me. I'm gonna get back and start tasteing a cake leaving the problem to one of your fellows. I'm talking to someone from above, I'm explaining the problem, we go to reception and in what three minutes I had already room ...

This is a cheap & cheerful place. That’s been covered by others. It’s also dingy downstairs in the rooms, dusty, and poorly maintained. In true Mexican style, when something doesn’t work, they just leave it. Example, I first had an upstairs room. No light over the sink. Windows leaked a lot of air. No curtains so morning sun or late night corridor light is disturbing. One electrical outlet for the entire room, once the TV & modem were plugged in. Lots of sound travels room to room, so next door had a bad cough. I could hear it like it was, well next door. Then I had to move downstairs next day because of an error in their booking system with Booking.com. That room had 1 ceiling light. No reading light. The fan that turned on with the light banged every revolution of the blades. Had to ask staff to turn off the fan. The central courtyard is a sound funnel, so the staff talking at 6:30 am echoes throughout the place. The washer upstairs vibrates the whole floor. It’s not a quiet place. Breakfast was awful. Bad coffee, no juice, corn Flakes or Fruit Loops, sandwich bread to toast, butter, jam and cut fruit. Kitchen is a mess. Hard to know what to do as there were no staff around to ask. One front desk person, William was super nice & always responded when asked for information. Other staff seemed to be on a work slowdown. More interested in being on their phones. Place could use some TLC. What it gets now is bandaids. At least there’s potable water available.

It looks a lot better in person than it does on their website. It was walking distance from the Historic Center which is where the Cathedrals are located. Great customer service. The food was okay.,but I wouldn't choose to eat there again. But overall my experience was fantastic.
