I recently stayed at the Oriental Hotel, which is known for its grand size and prestigious five-star rating. However, my experience was far from what one would expect from such a highly rated establishment. Firstly, the hotel feels outdated. The furniture in the room was old and worn, which gave the space a tired and neglected atmosphere. Additionally, the cleanliness was not up to standard, which is a basic expectation for any hotel, especially a five-star one. Service was another significant letdown. On one occasion, I requested an iron to press my clothes. I called the front desk multiple times—more than four, to be exact—and even reached out to the duty manager. Despite my repeated requests, it took over an hour for the iron to arrive. When I finally encountered the staff member delivering it, she was smiling, seemingly oblivious to the inconvenience caused by the delay. Other aspects of the stay were equally disappointing. The mini bar in my room was empty, and the shower had issues, with water spraying from the handle, making it difficult to use properly. On the positive side, the breakfast was enjoyable, providing a nice start to the day amidst an otherwise frustrating experience. In conclusion, despite its impressive size and five-star rating, the Oriental Hotel fell short in many critical areas. The outdated furniture, cleanliness issues, poor service, and malfunctioning amenities all contributed to a very disappointing stay. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

Hello, Really nice hotel, in the center ok’f the town. My room 8.. was perfect with the view if the beautiful garden. Delicious breakfast. I was there for 6 days. I’m so satisfied ☺️ In add, no need to pay for the reservation

We were going to switch to Hilton (Diamond)until we found out you can offer us a room in building one which does not require us to walk like we did in the older section of the building which was extremely hard to go in and out of our room. Our new room A/C was on the warm side, hotel was nice enough to bring us a portable fan to keep us cool. Other than that, staff service was excellent, especially the concierge and bell caption, they went out of their way offering to pack our over weight bag, 5 Star service to Mr. Sung in the lobby area for your unparalleled attention to me and my wife, you are true asset to your hotel, thank you again for everything.

The location is nice , clean , and the gym is more than good , and price is cheap for such an hotel

The service was excellent with polite and helpful staff. They also let us check out at 2. The breakfast has good western and chinese options. Much better than most hotels I've been to in china besides big western hotels.

Wow! We normally don’t book such extravagant places , but the price was definitely worth the stay! What an amazing place! The interior decor is outstanding! The room was huge and comfortable! Every thing in the bathroom was clean and the towels thick. Aircon worked well and internet was easy to connect to. The concierge helped us ship a parcel back to England, everyone was so helpful and have very good English! It’s close to the metro, park and across the road from restaurants. The courtyard and swimming pool also added to its charm with gorgeous pools and fish and red flowers! Pure opulence ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The location of this hotel is very convenient, close to metro station and shopping mall. Although the building is little bit too old, the interior are maintained very well, the backyard is a nice place for strolling around, the swimming pool is pretty large with the maintained temperature. The breakfast is excellent, lots choices with different flavor.

Some rooms have no water in the tap and we’ve chamged the room. But in the other room toilet was clogged and smells badly. The view of the rooms are not nice.

Very goid hotel no halal food

I booked this room for my parents. My dad enjoy the pool with my kid and the elite twin room is just perfect for them. The staff Li Dan allows me to do early check in and made the whole check in process smoothly! I believe the y enjoy the stay in the hotel! Nearby we can find restaurant like dim sum and other eatery. We love the local food!

The biggest hotel I’ve stayed in Guangzhou. Was very happy to see the huge room with a separate living area, bathtub, separate shower and toilet. Then the leakage happened. What a shame, don’t know why there is a flood whenever we use the shower. The bathtub, toilet area and sink area is fine, but the water will flood most of the toilet floor after shower, and the worst is there will be a foul smell that comes after. Shower room is just next to the beds, so we ensure the shower door is shut when we sleep to keep the smell away. Other than the shower mishap, everything is perfect, I was surprised to see they even have different charging lines near the dresser and the tv area, very thoughtful!Location is the best, shopping plaza just across the road with a delicious dim sum restaurant on the 2nd floor, be sure to go early, I reached close to 11am and que for almost an hour to get a seat. The super market in the shopping plaza is expensive but the bread offers buy 2 free 1 if you go after 8pm, the bread is so tasty, I brought back to sg and ate for 2 days it still taste very good. Bought kiwis and persimmon back to sg and both taste very good as well. Subway is just 3 mins away and easily to get taxis from the hotel or from the roadside. Walk about 30 mins to qing hui yuan, one of the famous garden in Guangzhou, visit the huang fei hong and ye wen gallery. Take the subway 2 stops to Beijing bu xing jie, plenty of shops and vibrant place, it’s a must go. Really love the location of this old hotel, so convenient and surrounded by shopping and eateries, just need to make sure to have a shower room that doesn’t leak.

The room is bit odd but spacious. Location is good and close to Metro. Opposite is a shopping mall which has a lot of restaurants and small food stall.

After Canton Trade Fair got over I was planning to stay for a night and my wife and child joined me from Hong Kong. The hotel room had too many problems. The tap,in the bathroom would not fall in the sink but on the counter top, the bathroom door would not close, the WiFi was unstable throughout the stay and very poor and unstable. The front desk changed my room but same problems existed in the new refurbished rooms with toilet pot water not passing through,the banthroom sink water not passing through. The WiFi was u stable the entire stay and the staff could not be of much help. The front desk staff wrote for me In Chinese language when I wanted to go to One Link plaza which is so famous in Guangzhou and it is a 7 min ride from the hotel, but she wrote another plaza name and we got into a major argument with the taxi driver taking us round and round Guangzhou and blamed us for the wrong address and asked us to pay the absurd meter fare when it should have only been 18 rub from the hotel. The driver of the taxi got super violent and when we reported our incident to the hotel, they didn’t seem to care much even though we sat in the taxi from the 5 star dong fang hotel. We reported to the police but it was of no use and all of them suggested us to call 12345 to report to the taxi complaint unit but the hotel staff refuse to help us lodge the complaint with 12345 when they every well know we cannot speak Chinese me the only way to lodge the complaint is in Chinese, there was no help or follow up from the hotels end on this incident where their hotel guest lives were put I. Such great danger by such a violent taxi driver. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone, its unhygienic, fully carpeted, very dated rooms and it is just an unclean and non-memorable stay. Not worth 800 RMB per night it is similar condition to 300 RMB hotels throughout China. I will seriously suggest guests to choose other better hotels in Tianhe district but don’t stay here as the staff have no care im the world for their hotel guests.
