Best Hotels near Nihon Ichiban, Ashinoko, Hakone

We had a terrific couple of days at Jemsty. It is very well located. If you get a Hakone Freepass transport is at your door. The room is nice in a traditional Japanese way. Futon beds and comfy pillows plus tatami mats create a lovely atmosphere. Fuji was visible from our window. Mac, the owner, is very helpful. He provided detailed explanations of how to get there and how to do the things we planned. The meals were superb. Breakfast was nice and the dinners were out of this world. I loved the chicken hot pot whereas my wife felt that the pork syabu syabu was the best pork she’s ever eaten. I can highly recommend Jemsty in every way of you plane to visit Hakone.

Hotel Indigo was recommended to us by a co-worker. She raved about how much she enjoy her stay, so we decided to visit for our Anniversary. We loved everything about this hotel from check in to check out, everything was amazing. The hotel staff always made us feel welcome, by greeting us (by name most of the time) whenever we were out and about in the hotel. Hannah checked us in. She was nice and provided us with information about the area. We had the breakfast included in our stay. The restaurant manager Koji-san was awesome. While not a picky eater, I do like my eggs cooked a certain way...lol.. On the first day of breakfast, my eggs were not cooked to my liking. When my plate was taken, Koji-san noticed that I did not eat my eggs. He immediately came to our table and inquired about the eggs. I told him that they were too soft for me. He apologized and asked if I had enough to eat and said that he would like to try again the next morning. I thought this was such a kind gesture. For the next 4 days, my eggs were cooked exactly how I like them. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. It is a bit pricey, but the chef is very good. The salmon and asparagus were my favorites. Our anniversary was on the 22nd and we received a call from the front desk asking if they could bring us a gift for our anniversary. They brought us an assortment of sweet treats, which we enjoyed with a cup of tea. Very sweet. Our room was spacious, clean with the perfect temperature. The television was the largest that I have seen a Japanese hotel. Our room was on the riverside with a private outdoor onsen. While relaxing in the onsen, you can hear the calming sounds of the river. There is also a foot soak in the garden area. it was a bit to cold outside for me, so I didn't get to enjoy it on this stay. The hotel was cleaned thoroughly and safety precautions were taken. All of staff wore masks and for breakfast, we were provided with gloves to get continental items from the buffet. All tables were wiped down immediately after a party left and were socially distanced. The hotel is in close proximity to just about everything. During our 5 day stay, we visited The Open Air Museum, the Venetian Glass Garden, Gora Park, and The Red Gate of Peace. We will definitely be returning and look forward to our next stay in the Spring.

Sometimes I said I would stay at the inn of Western dinner, and I made a reservation that it was a good evaluation. It was almost a good comment when I read the inn site. However, I wanted to check in advance, and even if I called, I was a message many times, and I didn't return it even if I put a message. I imagine a Petit Hotel or pension from the name, but when I stepped into the building, it was completely different. The room has a small sofa, but I couldn't feel very clean and didn't use it, and I was sitting on the bed all the time in the room. The bath in the room is a unit bus, but there is no outlet, and the dryer (also in the corridor) is not available in the unit bus. Anyway, there was no washlet in the toilet, and the seat was attached to the toilet seat, and it was wet when sitting, and it was disgusting to use the toilet and open the lid. The hot water in the bath is a white good hot water with a sulfur smell. The rental open-air bath is a good size even if two people enter together. Because the game machine fixtures remained scattered on the table, it may be a good inn for people who like games. Dinner was a western menu of courses at the restaurant. This was a satisfying content. The dessert was delicious. I expected breakfast for western food, but it was sausage and scrambled eggs that I was eating at my own house. There were only 2 super petit pans and I was disappointed with a small amount of breakfast. Also went to the breakfast restaurant at 8 o'clock, the start was 8 o'clock １０ minutes and I just waited at a table with nothing. At least I could put water or juice first. I was angry as I didn't complain about anything until now. There were a few customers waiting in this state, but there was no word that I had to wait. Also, as I drank the soup, I thought it was not cold soup, so I thought it was just wet. Although it should be possible to use the card, it was said that it was not possible to use the creditor's instrument or failure at the time of the adjustment, and it was paid in cash. Because I didn't feel hospitality at all and the inn that is not the same as the usual inn, the cost performance is very bad considering the 々 aspect. The Japanese rooms are almost to small to house two people with luggage, mattresses very thin, no Aircon available (only air clean). Room was run-down, the entire hotel is in dire need for make-over. It surely has seen better days. Therefore, it is overpriced. On the plus side: Food was good and so was the Onsen. But one would find similar Onsen standards nearby, in fact, next door. The nicely sized swimming pool closes at 5pm, can’t tell it’s quality. Massage service available, good service.

First and foremost, the hotel is just a road across the Yumoto station and bus stations towards all places in Hakone and is extremely convenient! The service was excellent and took my request in swift and prompt response. There is even a souvenir shop that gathers almost all kinds of souvenirs of the area. You can pay a little more to book a private onsen bath for yourself or your family. Will visit again if I come back to Hakone again.

Great value for money. It is very close to Atami Station, a 5-minute walk, very convenient. After exiting the JR station, turn left and walk straight ahead (passing the bus station, there is a Family Mart opposite). Self check-in, remember to ask the staff for a kettle when checking in, as there is no one in the room; disposable items such as toothbrushes and cups can be obtained from the elevator. However, breakfast is a small sandwich and coffee, which is not full and is not recommended. You can store your luggage in the hotel before check-in (automatic luggage box on the first floor). The MOA Art Museum can be reached directly by bus in front of the hotel, but it is still recommended to go to Atami Station to take the bus, otherwise there may be no seats. The staff is rather cold-faced and unenthusiastic. Another bad thing is that on the way from Atami Station to the hotel, you will pass by a heavenly burial ground, which is a bit unlucky~ Everything else is perfect~

On Friday, I had a break, so I hurriedly booked a plan for staying without meals. It is a mountain room in the pond building, within １ Person １ 10,000 yen. In the evening １７ I arrived at half past half, but the shops near Hakone Yumoto Station were almost closed. The correct answer was that I was procuring side dishes in the basement of the department store in Shinjuku. The convenience store was open. There are liquor stores and Lawson near the inn. The garden was an invisible room, but it was wide 々 and the scenery was good and I could see the mountains. The cleaning was well done. The futon is a style that you lay yourself, but I was grateful that you were prepared for a split, plate, and glass, probably because of the consideration for guests staying without meals. Coffee and tea were also set. It was good that the large communal bath and the bath in the room were both hot springs. The room was a unit bath, but I didn't really care. The next morning I took a walk in the large garden. I was able to relax. Hakone Yumoto is close to ８０ minutes from Shinjuku, and I think it is an affordable plan for train fares and accommodation plans for inns of this class. I want to go to stay again when I have time.

The hotel is conveniently located. After leaving the east exit of Odawara Station, remember to find the passage on the third floor to the hotel. Because the hotel does not have clear directions on the street, it took me a while to find it for the first time. Everything else is very good. There are also free hot springs for guests to use. I will stay at this hotel next time I come to Hakone.

I read great reviews about Hakone Pax Yoshino. It's an older hotel in a tourist town and appears quite nice. My room was OK, large and could use some updating. My traditional dinner and service was spectacular, hence my 3-star rating. What tainted a one-night stay is I was traveling with a vegetarian friend and not only was she shut out of a dinner she paid for, but the front desk agent said they couldn't accommodate her, there would be no refund or substitutions, because we were traveling as solos we couldn't sit together - so many ”couldn'ts” that were simply not true. This tainted my stay and I went alone to dinner - plenty of room for another person - which was great. I was embarrassed that I had picked this hotel for friends to stay separately and upon arrival was told that our plan didn't include meals, which they sure did. So, at the front desk for about $300 per night, everything is ”couldn't”. Breakfast was just OK compared to dinner. I loved wearing the yakata and having hot spring water in the room's tub (which could use updating) was nice. In the morning, I was told to reserve a spot on a shuttle to the train station for what reason, I'm not sure. When no shuttle showed up for me, my friend and others waiting - and waiting - and waiting - we were then told that the shuttle doesn't always show up. Why the reservation for something that doesn't happen? The front desk could not request a cab, another ”couldn't”. Since most of us leaving had trains to catch and tours scheduled, we walked the 15 minutes or so to the station in the rain. I saw other guests I met while waiting also drenched at the station. In short, I'm not impressed though so much of Japan has impressive accommodations and kindness. Hakone Pax Yoshino falls short. For that reason, I wouldn't stay again and don't recommend it. Too bad, because the traditional dinner and restaurant serving staff are top notch. I'm sure the chef - and a dinner this good has to have a chef - would have said to serve a vegetarian rice, vegetables, desserts of which there were several as well as a large drink menu and other dishes - and the experience would have been better. Unfortunate that the front desk person we had could only say no, you don't have, we can't. Well, I think they could have. Very sad.
