Stadium Motel

Whitiora|1.6km from West Hamilton Community Church
We were in Hamilton for a week on business and stayed at the Stadium Motel, in one of three 2 bedroom duplex apartments located adjacent to the main accommodation wing. Lets start with the positives: Our host was a lovely lady who was very pleasant. The motel is not used for MSD emergency housing and our unit had quite new TV's in both bedrooms and a very large TV in the living area with good picture quality. And now for the negatives: Our apartment was tired, uncared for and worse, it was not clean. Stadium Motel is a very standard type of lodging that was probably built about 20 years ago, and since then has apparently enjoyed little maintenance and no refurbishment. Many of the fixtures and furnishings are stained, dented, broken or just old and tatty. But it was the lack of cleanliness that was most concerning. Crusty food splatters in the microwave and on a dinnerplate, dirty windows and walls, dusty grime covered appliances and surfaces, and curtains hanging off the rails were some of the faults that quite obviously have gone unattended for months or years. Much of this could be easily rectified with a scheduled maintenance and cleaning program, which I did bring to the attention of our lovely host. Stadium Motel may never be the destination for a family vacation or a romantic getaway, but it should be an okay place to stay, which sadly at the moment it's not. Instead it was a rather depressing place to be.

As I booked a cheap room I would have expected also a clean room by New Zealand standards. So I had a room with a toilet and wash basin there was a screen to separate the bed from the washing and toilet. One towel for a shower and a hand towel there was a clothes cupboard and a small side draw The bed and sheets and a blanket were ok but I brought my own Linen. My carpet looked like it had seen better days. The fan was a life saver as the room was hot and stuffy, there was no window to open but a small exhaust fan in the window. The air conditioning was in the hall way so had to open my room door. I stayed for 2 nights. The shower had excellent pressure and the desk staff are cool. There are permanent residents onsight. I did not have breakfast and eat out. Good location to CBD. My room was #26 and cost me $69.00 per night. Depending on your own personal expectations the over-all cleanliness of the facilities may be something to be aware of, other than that I did have good sleeps.

The hotel has convenient transportation and convenient parking. The room is large enough and it is very thoughtful with air and electric blankets. There is a double bed and a single bed in the room, and there is no problem with a child. The room layout is reasonable, there are kitchen stoves and refrigerators and dining tables and chairs, the bathroom is very convenient to separate dry and wet, will recommend friends to stay.

This was the cheapest hotel for Hamilton we could find, and it was absolutely fine. Ok, the location was a little bit hidden for a moment as it didn’t seem to clearly say ‘hotel’ or anything along the main road it was on, rather than it was a little turn off to properly enter it and see it. So, it needed to be more visible in my opinion. The top surface of the bed backboard didn’t look like it had been dusted in a while, but it wasn’t a problem. The beds were spring mattresses so that was a little old fashioned; it felt a little rickety and I would’ve preferred a normal mattress or similar. Apart from that, everything else was great and a great price too. Recommended if need a quick one or two nights.

Good location, by the river, you can take a walk when you go out. It is also located in the city center, and it is convenient to eat and shop next to it. The room is small, only the kettle and fridge. But health is good.

We were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, tidy, and really well presented. The bathroom was really big, and the shower was awesome. We were a bit worried about traffic noise as it's on a busy road and next to a BP station, but once the windows were closed, it was so quiet. You honestly couldn't hear anything. You do have to go to another motel to book inn, which isn't a problem, but it should be mentioned when you make your booking. Will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the novotel for 3 night while I had surgery. The hotel is clean and tidy. The rooms are great with everything you would need. We didn't get milk but saw them on a service cart so might have been missed. The rooms were quiet but wouldn't say sound proof. The only issue was parking. We paid 32 for valet parking and it's was fine first night as it was kept in the basement but then it got busy and they took it elsewhere. Hubby was trying to come see me after surgery and he waited 40 mins outside for the vehicle. He isn't someone who likes to go back and follow up he hates confrontation and he waited till 30 mins then went and asked. Staff were friendly and there was always someone on the desk. Room service was good and hubby had dinner but was quiet expensive. I wouldn't stay again if I needed parking. But if I didn't I'd stay there so close to town and hospital
