We loved the tranquility of this historic inn with its beautiful grounds, amazing sunsets and comfy rooms. Breakfasts were simple, yet delicious and quite satisfying with bakery granola and yummy bread, yogurts, fresh Maine blueberries and strawberries, warm scones, boiled eggs etc. ... all yummy! It was a great base to explore the area including beautiful hikes, Bailey island, Lands End, lobster roll and oyster cruise, Freeport ... still more areas were left for next time. Thank you to the gracious, friendly and easygoing hosts for a lovely experience!

This is an amazing surprising place. The owners have done a great job in upgrading a VERY HISTORIC and old building. The sitting rooms are wonderful, with games, a small honor bar, water, coffee etc. Many rooms have en-suite bathrooms. The owner was wonderful, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good and we will be going back next year.

Perfect? No......some warped floors, spartan breakfast BUT great location, friendly people, lobster pound adjacent more than make up for any negatives. Within reasonable range of restaurants, beaches, shopping, sightseeing......so much nicer than cookie cutter type chain hotels. Very relaxing, great sleeping and very clean. We enjoyed our accommodations immensely and plan to return in the near future.

Our 2nd time back within a year with the new owners. Just love this place. I loved being able to kayak this time. Very comfy beds and spacious rooms. Breakfast always gets my mouth watering. Surrounding jaunts are beautiful. Nice access to hikes in the area. I love being able to make a cup of tea at my leisure and store leftovers in a frig. Thank you Kelsey and John for this great getaway with all the homey touches.

Historic and delightful Inn to visit in Harpswell. I believe the new owners, John & Kelsey, will bring a fresh vision to update but still preserve the historic beauty of this timepiece. Kelsey was a delightful host and open to suggestion to ensure her guests had a pleasant stay with all needs met. Wishing them good luck as we hope to return.

Our stay at The Harpswell Inn was excellent! It’s a beautiful old inn that shows the original charm complete with beautiful woodwork and flooring. The rooms were clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower was hot. Kelsey and John are the new owners and they have done a great job making the Inn enjoyable. There are Adirondack chairs spaced out around the property and rocking chairs on the Inn’s wrap around porch – borrow one of the blankets from the living room if it’s chilly outside! There is a large living room with a gas fireplace and comfy chairs to relax in, a game room with all sorts of board games, a self-serve 24-hour coffee/tea station, and delicious breakfast offerings each morning. Get a bottle of wine or a local beer (complete with glasses to use outside) from the honor system bar in the living room and take a short walk down the hill to catch a gorgeous sunset! The location is truly incredible. It is quiet and private – I curled up in a chair outside every morning with my coffee and enjoyed the early misty light. We spent a day exploring Harpswell, Orr’s Island, and Bailey Island meeting some friendly people every place we stopped. Brunswick is right up the road, Freeport and Bath are both about about ½ hour away should you decide you want to leave peacefulness of the Inn. We will definitely be back and look forward to seeing the changes that Kelsey and John are planning!

I believe establishments should be honest when publishing overviews of their facilities. This is a prime example. This 17 century property displays its age and unfortunately needs a great deal of effort and funding to bring it to the level one anticipates when reading their review and photos. Although after looking at the photo dates, that are eleven - twelve years old, perhaps over a decade ago the property was in a 4 - 5 star rating. At best, the property is a 2 at time of this review. We need understand the young couple purchased it two months ago, however, as owners they need to take responsibility for over embellishment of the property description and breakfast. Regarding property; this property is extremely tired. Entering the main area is not clean, wallpaper in the room we had is pealing off, ceiling going to second floor is falling due to what appears to be water damage. Breakfast area is lacking a warm welcoming setting. While on the breakfast area, the listing says a breakfast including local pastries, closest was store purchased bread and Thomas English muffin. The grounds currently are far from being in ideal conditions or close to the photos dating over a decade ago. When comparing this property to others we stayed at on this trip, we know our evaluation is fair. The new owners have a very large task ahead of them in getting this property to a true four or fiver star property. We wish them good luck and strong backs.

Just loved staying here. Very comfy bed and room with a balcony. Absolutely yummy gourmet breakfast and then there's the sunset view. We enjoyed nearby hiking and exploring a nearby beach at low tide. Kelsey, the owner was so helpful. Sure hope we have the opportunity to return sometime.

This was our second time staying at the Harpswell Inn and to our delight it is now under new ownership. The new owners haven’t owned it for very long, but it in the short time they’ve owned it they have made some wonderful changes. The main rooms all seemed brighter and welcoming. When we arrived we were greeted by Kelsey (owner) who gave us a tour of the downstairs, which consisted of a main room, game room, and breakfast area. There is coffee available all day and they also have a few snacks available. We stayed in the Captain Curtis room which has a balcony that you share with others guests. It was great to sit outside and have a view of the water. You could also sit on their wrap around porch and eat breakfast or just relax. Breakfast was simple and consisted of hard boiled eggs, bread, yogurt, fruit and some sort of pastry. You can take a very short walk down to the ocean to see a beautiful sunset. Kelsey and John we both great hosts and we look forward to visiting Harpswell again.
