We used Mt. Williamson Motel as our "base camp" while we did day hikes in the area and loved everything about it. It has the charm of another era (think 1960's/1970's family road trips in the West) but has been creatively and lovingly decorated, which puts it in a whole different class than those road trip motels of yore, has a fabulous courtyard with picnic tables under shade trees where one can relax in the afternoon after a day of hiking or chow down a hearty breakfast (including a vegan option!) in the morning - it was a lot of fun hearing what through-hikes others were doing as everyone gathered for breakfast. Finally, the folks running the place are super nice and helpful, and the hospitality is top notch. Huge thumbs up! If you decide to stay here, get on it early - they book up for the summer.
