This was a great place to stay. Ideal for people prior to heading on their mountain adventures. I was very pleasantly surprised. Nice, decorative property. Cabins are small but clean and well cared for. Nice quality towels, bed, etc. Also included is a sit down breakfast served to you. I highly recommend!

This is a privately owned motel. After a long drive from San Diego on our way home to Reno we stopped in Independence for an overnight. The room was quaint, beds comfy and Doug the owner was super, cooked fresh, delicious breakfast and served outside under the trees. We will definitely return.

Wonderful gem! I enjoyed a two night stay while supporting my husband on the JMT. A sweet, warm and welcoming spot. It was fun to chat with other travelers and hikers over breakfast each morning (served under a beautiful shady tree). We happened to be there when they were doing a pizza night and it was fun to meet some “locals” and get a feel for the larger community. If you are doing the JMT, be sure to check out their webpage for resupply and such. We would stay here again.

We used Mt. Williamson Motel as our "base camp" while we did day hikes in the area and loved everything about it. It has the charm of another era (think 1960's/1970's family road trips in the West) but has been creatively and lovingly decorated, which puts it in a whole different class than those road trip motels of yore, has a fabulous courtyard with picnic tables under shade trees where one can relax in the afternoon after a day of hiking or chow down a hearty breakfast (including a vegan option!) in the morning - it was a lot of fun hearing what through-hikes others were doing as everyone gathered for breakfast. Finally, the folks running the place are super nice and helpful, and the hospitality is top notch. Huge thumbs up! If you decide to stay here, get on it early - they book up for the summer.

I've stayed at Mt Williamson Motel and Base Camp twice - once in 2022 and once in 2024. The owners are friendly, helpful, and responsive. We were coming off a backpacking trip on the John Muir Trail both times, and we were well cared for. Highly recommend this place.

Mt. Williamson Motel and Basecamp was the perfect place for rest, relaxation and resupply in our section hike on the Pacific Crest Trail. From the welcome cold drink when we arrived to our ride back up to Onion Valley to continue our hike everything was perfect. Dan and Lauralyn were so welcoming, warm and helpful our entire stay. Our room was comfortable and our resupply buckets were waiting when we arrived. The office had most of the supplies we needed to supplement our resupply. The scrambled eggs, English muffin, bacon & fruit breakfasts were delicious. But the most wonderful part was the friendship of our fellow hikers and the hospitality of our hosts. We got all kinds of tips and encouragement that made our journey easier and more fun. Don’t miss this gem in Insependence!
