2-Star Hotels in Ipoh

I'm enjoying my stayed at Sun Inns Meru , by far it has the most comfortable budget hotel I've stayed . The staff were very friendly and the hotel was in the middle of the city which you can easily find places to hang out .

Stay here, don't look at the hotel facade,they have great rooms and very clean. The hotel is just 10 minutes flat walk from Ipoh train station, although it is in the residential area but all the intersting place are within walking distance such as Concubine lane just five minutes walk, the night market just five minutes walk, the memory lane was behind the hotel. The lobby is always locked and you feel secure. You need your keycard to access the lobby and lift. There are few sitting area in lobby but enough space. The second floor are breakfast area. The room was clean, and bright as there are lights everywhere. There is complimentary coffee and tea, fridge and safety box. The bathroom is quite big and the water power was strong with hot water run constantly. There is not place to eat surrounding the hotel area except KFC and Pizza Hut at the left side of hotel (2 minutes walk). If you walk across the street from the lobby into a small lane,you will reach a traditional kopitiam that have plenty of choice to eat,they start at 6 morning until night. The kopitiam has dim sum, seafood noodles, char kue tiau, popiah (night time). Minimarket 7 Eleven just beside the hotel. Considering the affordable price and very centrally located, this hotel is the best option to stay in Ipoh.

Room is small but ok for it’s price. Book it last min before 1 day I arrive ipoh, thought only for a sleep so no need booking expensive hotel, but this hotel makes me not comfortable because someone wants to open my door at midnight 3am, not sure the ppl going to wrong room or what. I think it’s ok for budget travelers. I’ll book another hotel earlier if travel to ipoh again 😆

The hotel only has stair access, a bit inconvenient for those with heavy luggage. The hotel is conveniently located, within a 30 minute drive to various attractions in Ipoh, and close to Chang Jiang White Coffee, ideal for breakfast. The room was spacious, though cleanliness could be improved as my black backpack got covered in white dust after being placed on the floor. Amenities like towels and shower gel were provided, but no toothbrush, toothpaste, hairdryer, and mini-fridge... A shared iron available outside the room. I purposely chose a room with a window, expecting a pleasant view for the additional cost. However, all I saw was a construction site, which was quite disappointing and not worth the extra cost. Additionally, the hotel's water heating system is solar-powered and need some time to adjust, and I thought the hotel didn't have a water heater since the markings for hot and cold water were faded. The front desk staff was friendly and willing to help when I had problems with the water heater. Overall, considering the price, the stay were comfortable and suited for budget travelers.

Wir waren für zwei Nächte in diesem Hostel was für Ipoh auch ausreichend ist. Das gesamte Hostel ist modern eingerichtet, sauber und gemütlich. Es gibt ein Terrasse einen Chillout Bereich und eine Küche in der es auch Kleinigkeiten zum Frühstück gibt. Die Angestellten sind sehr nett und helfen gern auch spontan bei einer Tour zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten. Aufgrund der Liebe der Malaysier zu lauten Autos und Autorennen war es etwas laut aber es gibt kostenlose Ohrstöpsel. Für das Preis Niveau ein Top Hostel.

A boutique hotel with good room rates. Room’s clean, has vinyl flooring and built-in carpentry is in rather good condition. Bed’s firm and basic toiletries are provided (toothbrush n paste, bath n shower). Clean bedlinens though the towel I had was old with few grey-black stains. Bathroom’s large but the water pressure is slightly Low (our room’s on the 1st level, with Recep at ground). There’s a dim sum restaurant just beside the hotel but we didn’t eat there. A larger food centre is just round the corner, 5-10mins wall away. Good and value for money place to stay even with no options for breakfast.

This hotel can be categorized as a budget hotel. Facilities provided basic facilities only. For travelers who prefer a clean and comfortable room is not suitable. The advantage of this hotel is close to the ipoh toll plaza.

I checked in a suite on Friday night and left on Saturday. The room was very beautiful and comfortable. The security was a bit strange and you have to swipe your room card at the elevator when you enter the room. The parking lot has CCTV. The staff is very friendly. There are many restaurants and food stalls around. It is also very close to the city center. Checked last Saturday night I stayed in a suite. Very nice and comfortable. OOD safe access, via room card in elevator. Parking on CCTV. Friendly staff. Many restaurants and food stalls nearby. Very close to the city center. The downside is that the suite I locked is facing the roundabout, and next to it is Courth Mammoth, very noisy. After midnight, you can hear a slight hammer sound from Courth Mammoth. The cleaning staff didn't clean very thoroughly and I also found uncomfortable things that previous guests had left in the room.

Why glorify these dark alleys which look like the neighborhood where Jack the Ripper lurk for his next victim? The ”hotel” is supposed to be ”designer hotel”. It's a prison. Period. Full of hazardous corners and dangerous pits. Pool was so heavily chlorinated that the water stung. Door handle came off, stupid latch on the outside of the room, multiple key card systems that could potentially kill if a fire breaks. I almost got stuck in the common bathroom because the latch refused to budge when I wanted to get out. Sink at the common area was greasy. The reception was almost impossible to find. Do not take your elderly family members or small children to this hotel. I booked it coz I had no choice at such a short notice. Not worth the money either. Seriously, MPI should re-inspect that place and take back the accommodation license. Look at the ”barrier” from the rooftop pool to the ground below. No banister. It's lower than my knee if I stand next to it. One wrong move, you'd plummet down. Steps made out of metal grating. No safety yellow stickers to differentiate the levels. Totally NOT safe! Never again!

A very average stay at this hotel. The price was a little high for what was available. Unfortunately the rooms weren’t ready till 11pm so we had to wait while they were cleaned. However the showers were warm and there was a common area to make light meals. Would recommend If the price was more reasonable.
