Let me start off by saying I am a very picky guest and always have high expectations. This Airbnb is absolutely amazing! Exceeded my expectations ! You cannot get a better location! It is right on the Main Street, a couple of blocks from the most popular beach on the island (Playa Norte). You walk out your door to the top rated restaurants in Isla. Not only that, if you mention that you’re staying here some of those restaurants will give you 10% off. The room itself is very clean, big, the air is ICE COLD, Netflix, YouTube, the water pressure is very good, hot hot water, a fridge where we put pop and water in that we bought from a store a couple doors down from our room. SAFE! We never felt unsafe. Isla itself is a very safe island but I was skeptical about staying in an Airbnb but I’m sooo glad we did! Jo was an awesome host, very kind, always answered our questions immediately. There is a book in your room with everything you would need to know about Isla. There is LOUD music every night (again you’re on the main *****) and she states this in the reservations so there shouldn’t be any stars unchecked do to this. It specifically states it when you check the place out online. We wore earplugs if we went to bed before music stopped. Never had an issue. But for some it might be. We are coming back in November and 100% will be staying here!

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of April in the Quintana Roo room. The room is huge & everything was very clean! The fridge is fantastic for keeping our leftovers, beer, wine & water chilled. The Super Aki is about 4 blocks down Hildago & had what we needed as far as grabbing some things to eat, beer, wine & extra toiletries. We had absolutely no issues with sound, slept like a baby! The bed & even the pillows were very comfortable. The rooftop has some neat swings, some chairs & small tables & bar stools overlooking Hildago. We sat up there quite a lot with a drink to people watch. Bathroom is very nice. Shower is very large...water pressure & temperature were way better than expected. Only negative I'd comment on is that the lighting in the bathroom is very very dim over the sink/mirror so it's really hard to put on makeup if going out on the town. However, there is a full length mirror in the main room so I just did mine there...really wasn't a big deal at all. There is a water cooler on the 3rd floor to refill your water bottles, which was a huge plus. Rooms have beach towels AND bath towels, which was an added plus for sure. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! We loved being in the center of things & the beach is just 2 blocks away. Jo, the property manager, always answered every question I had via email. I hope to have the pleasure of returning soon!

Some great things about the property, and some that could be improved. The location is great-- right on the main pedestrian thoroughfare with restaurants all around, an easy walk from the ferry terminal, and just a block from Playa Norte. The owner was responsive and helpful, and has also negotiated discounts at a few area restaurants and the Green Demon Beach Club, which we appreciated. There also was a big water dispenser on the 3rd floor landing, which was helpful for filling up our water bottles for the day. (They also offer coffee and tea.) Beware if you're tall, as the building is not made for people over 6 feet. I hit my head walking into the building, as the stairs are steep as soon as you walk in, and you need to duck when you start up. Similarly, there's a big step up once in the room into the bathroom, and you'll hit your head if you don't duck. The stairs up to both floors are also quite narrow-- need to use caution. We stayed in the Quintana Roo room on the 3rd floor, supposedly the quietest room. While there is a warning that music can be heard into the night, only upon staying did I realize why it's so loud. The door to the room is flimsy and not insulated. In the morning, you can see light coming through the middle of the door. If it were replaced by a solid, insulated door, it might not be quiet, but it would be a much more manageable volume. The lights in the bathroom were quite dim-- and only located in the back of the room, so it was impossible to see one's face clearly in the mirror above the sink. The sink was beautiful, though, and the shower was huge. Unfortunately, it didn't drain well, and the door didn't close fully. The sheets and towels and pillows were high quality, and the bed was comfortable, which was a highlight. The curtains could do more to darken the room, keeping light out in the early morning, and the TV was tiny-- actually difficult to see, given how far away from the bed it was mounted on the wall. There was a problem with small ants, which seemed to come in from behind the a/c unit, though the owner said she'd have it addressed (I'm sure this is a tough problem to solve). The other a/c issue, though, is that it took over 5 hours for the unit to cool the room down to the temperature at which it was set. I understand it takes time, given the heat, but even if the door isn't optimally insulated, the a/c should do a much better job than it does. All in all, a decent place to stay in a great location, ideal for someone who wants to be out late and not spend much time in the room. Personally, I'd look for somewhere else next time I visit.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at Tres Mentiras while visiting Isla Mujeres recently. We stayed in the Quintana Roo room. Here are my thoughts. PROS * Location - This is located a short walk from the ferry terminal. It is also only a couple of blocks from Punta Norte. It’s on a walking street called Hidalgo which has most of the bars and restaurants of old town so you are right in the ‘action’. This location though is a little bit of a double edged sword and I go into that below. * Service - Although not located on site our host Jo was very helpful and responsive via WhatsApp with any questions. She also provides a fairly extensive compendium for the island in the room. * Value - Isla Mujeres is quite overpriced, probably 2-3 times the rest of mexico. We found that although this hotel more expensive than what we were used to it was comparable to similar set ups on the island. * Wifi worked well * Air conditioning worked well and was very much appreciated on hot summer days. * Rooms - Our room was very large! It was actually the size of two rooms. There was a large comfortable king sized bed. The shower was large and the hot water never ran out. There was a TV that worked well. I appreciated having the extra space. In addition to the rooms there is a terrace area outside that overlooks the walking street and provides ash trays. Because there are small fridges in the rooms we spent a couple of nights just drinking on the terrace with cold beers and people watching. You can hear all the music from the bars below. * Security - Locked front doors and doors on the rooms. No accessible windows. * If you mention you are staying at this hotel you get a free drink at the Tres Mentiras bar downstairs. Several restaurants also provide a 10% discount if you mention you are staying here including Tres Mentiras, Lola Valentina, Xantolo, Ocean’s and Geisha Valentina. CONS * Noise - Before I go into this I must emphasised that the owner makes it very very clear that this is a noisy place to stay. In fact I think we had no less than 3 warnings before we set foot on the premises. Because its located in the heart of things the noise transfers through the rooms. We actually found it quite quiet during the day but from 2000 - 0100am the noise from the bars really amplifies and you can hear it as you try to sleep. Just how noisy it gets really depends on which room you are in. The hotel has 6 rooms. There is 4 on the 2nd floor and 2 on the 3rd/ top floor. On the second floor the two rooms closest to the street are Puebla and Oaxaca. On the third floor the room closest to the street is Yucatan. I believe these all have balconies opening onto the street. So in summary from noisiest to least noisy its Puebla/Oaxaca > Yucatan > Chiapas/Jalisco > Quintana Roo. We were in the later and really didn’t find the noise an issue but I think we were in the best room for same. Overall loved our stay and would recommend this place to others.

Great location, we booked a king room with balcony on the top floor which opened onto the shared terrace . Lovely spacious room with a massive shower. You collect keys via a key safe at the front door but your fantastic host "Jo" was there if you did need anything. Location is in the heart of the night life area so either party or take ear plugs.

My boyfriend and I are not super high maintenance when it comes to our trips, so if you are then this probably isn't the place for you. But anyway, the room is adorable, pretty colors, suprisingly spacious, concrete floors. The bathroom was said to be tiny, but we didn't have a problem with it. The shower water would leak through the glass and wet our bathroom floors and lead to the room, but again this didn't bother us. Just wipe it up with some towels and you're good! We had a cute little balcony that overlooked the town. There's also a stairway that leads to a rooftop patio where you can see over the town, lots of places to sit, and there's even a room with sunscreen, snacks, glasses for water and mugs for tea and coffee, a water dispenser (you can't drink from the taps in Mexico), and other things. There is no continental breakfast, but my boyfriend and I are late risers so this wasn't a problem. The important thing to mention is that this place is in the heart of downtown so at nights it gets LOUD. Bring noise-cancelling earplugs to sleep and you'll be fine. I slept like a baby most nights and I'm a light sleeper. Another thing to mention is you are right above a restraunt that is always playing music. And they start playing early. Last, but not least, the lady that helped us out was WONDERFUL! Her name was Jo and she helped organize all our excursions. She even got a couples massage arranged for our room. My boyfriend lost the key to our room on the last night and Jo was very helpful and understanding in getting that sorted. She was always a text or a phone call away. It was very nice. On the first day she even gave us complimentary drinks from the hotel bar downstairs.
