Kyoto Station
The location is very good - ten minutes walk from the train station. A bonus is its proximity to Higashi Honganji temple and its detached garden Shosei-en. The hostel itself is very well set up and very well run. The facilities are excellent - the kitchen is as good as any I have come across in a hostel in Japan. The bunk beds are comfortable. The lack of privacy curtains was not a problem in my stay, but with less considerate room mates it could be. The showers are very good: plenty of pressure and good temperature control. The common/dining room is spacious and comfortable but I found the piped 'cafe music' from morning to night there irritating. The desk staff were all helpful and competent, and spoke good English. The cleaning staff worked hard to keep the hostel clean, and it was reassuring to see them going around disinfecting surfaces in view of the current coronavirus epidemic. No fault of the Kyoto hostel, but booking on the K's house website is unnecessarily complicated. I found it preferable to pay more for the ease of booking.com than wrestle with K's House booking process to take advantage of their 'secret deals' (loyalty discounts).

<Good points> ・Near the bus stop. There are also two convenience stores nearby.・You can stay in an old folk house. My parents' house is almost the same age as this house, so I was immersed in a nostalgic feeling.・Tourist information is posted in various places, so it's fun to take a look. I participated in the morning service of Nishi Honganji because it was recommended.・You can stay without meeting the staff. I stayed overnight without seeing anyone.・There was a kotatsu in the private room. It helped that my legs were cold.・There was a sanitary box in the dressing room. <Things to be improved> ・I was surprised when I received a phone call from my cell phone number. I'm very cautious, so I try not to answer suspicious phone numbers, so I'm surprised when I get a sudden call... Also, the staff who called me spoke too fast. I asked him to speak slowly, but it didn't work. I could barely hear ”Haruya”. I don't really know what you're talking about, so please calm down and speak slowly. I can't tell you anything.・When I heard that they were making rice porridge in the morning and went to see it, it was empty. I probably didn't do it because the pot was dry. It may not be done in this day and age, but if not, I would like an explanation.・There was a water tank, but it was empty. I wanted to drink water to take medicine. I can't judge whether it's not done in this day and age or I forgot to water. There were white streaks on the tank. Did you wash it?・Rent out the bath, fill it with hot water, and when you soak in the bath, you will be surprised to see the toothpaste float to the surface! You didn't clean it after the last time you used it. Please clean it... the charter fee was wasted...・The dressing room is very cold. It's an old private house, so the cold came directly. I want a simple heater. It was interesting and fun to make the room, but I felt that there were many problems in the details.

We stayed in the family suite. There were 2 beds and 3 floor mats. The beds were comfortable but the floor mats were so thin it was impossible to sleep comfortably as an adult. The room itself was very clean and had a really nice bathroom. However do not leave anything of any value in the room while you are away. We had something that was charging stolen from our room while we were out one day. We immediately noticed upon our return and alerted management. They assured us we would be compensated if they could not be found. That never happened and once we left the country, they completely changed their tone and refused to do anything. There is not a safe in the room so just take it all with you!

We were very lucky to stay at this hotel opposite the Ryan coffee shop and can use the bar here every day because it was really great. The hotel staff is super friendly and very welcoming, there are very good different kinds of craft beer to choose from in the bar, some of them are really good, although most of the snacks at night are small, but the taste is very good, especially my favorite, Nan quite fried chicken. The fish is large in size and the potato chips are delicious. The ambiance of this hotel is always good at night, and some have a sake tasting event at night, which is very popular. If you are in the area, this bar is a very worthwhile place to come.

Kyoto Station
It’s right next to Umekoji Kyoto West Station. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to Kyoto Station. Originally, I decided to visit the Kyoto Railway Museum, but the museum was closed because of a holiday at the end of the year (crying~). Arrived in Kyoto early, the front desk staff helped me store my luggage in advance. The employees are all young, so they feel very close. The first floor is equipped with a computer and sofa, and the top floor has a kitchen and a place to eat and chat. The foreign boss (I heard it was an Egyptian) seemed to live there too, and had a face-to-face meeting.
